Touchdown Tommy

BDB: Think Hybrid...I know they are the Devil to your business, but you gotta think outside the box.  Also, I noticed that hat on the dood last night while watching the news as well (BTW: is watching the NBC nightly news a sign of getting "old"?).  Didn't really think anything of it, but now that I look closer at him he reminds me of Veek...

Anyone else win big on Sunday?  My main man Charles Barkley took home a cool 700K in Vegas...

I won a buck from Fins III on the coin toss. He picked tails.
Before the game I gave him a stack of 10 one dollar chips to bet me with. Just before kickoff, I offered him my stack if the opening kickoff was run back for a touchdown, or he pays me one chip if it isn't, i.e. 10:1 odds. He didn't take it. After that we bet on things like would the next commercial be for food or vehicle. I wanted to give him a good taste of the betting life so he can grow up to rake like Sir Charles.

For those of you that don't wander over to the Basketball board, the first regional rankings of the year are out. Here is what they look like:

3 St. John's 16-5 16-2

I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

In breaking news, the Tommies suck, no matter how highly they are ranked.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Touchdown Tommy

Wonka that is a blatant attempt at +Karma.  And Touchdown Tommy likes it...

Only way to bring that into line is to beat them, so thanks for taking care of that. :)

TDT - Apparently Pat is a Tommie fan, as my K took a 2-point fall between your post and his. But thanks for biting the bullet and helping me out, no matter how insignificant it is now.

You were smited three times, actually: A Tommie fan, a west coast fan and a Johnnie fan.

I stopped smiting you when you stopped making your ridiculous and unfounded claims on the WBB board.

Pep has just finished reading Austin Murphy's "The Sweet Season," about the SI writer's sabbatical as an embedded journalist with the St. John's University football team and its legendary coach, John Gagliardi....incredible! The Alfred Sun gives a two thumbs up and declares it a "must read" for D3 football fans.

Gags reminds me of Alfred's long-time coach, the bulldog-faced Alex Yunevich out of Purdue who put Alfred on the map....right next to Tinkertown.

After reading the Sweet Season, AUPepBand has in his mind a trip to Collegeville for a game. Pep has a second cousin who taught at the "U" who still has an apartment in Minneapolis.....plus a first cousin living in Savage, MN. Heck, Pep has relatives everywhere!

I was the Johnnie fan--I won't stand for your karma pandering and false accusations against me :P

Pep, of course, would like to first become acquainted with some of the Johnnies posters, particularly any of the characters who made it into Murphy's book.

You see, Pep grew up in Alfred when the entire town and student body showed up for football games... because Coach Alex Yunevich (177-85-12), no matter what kind of talent he had (and his recruiting budget amounted to some postage stamps), put on a show with his Saxons. Pep fondly remembers some of the "big" games at the old Merrill Field, back when Pep's grandfather, as director of buildings and grounds, oversaw the maintenance of arguably the most beautiful natural grass football field in the country. "Bepa" built the original press box and, given his knack for tinkering with sound equipment, was the "Well Hello Dere" announcer at Merrill Field. The "stadium," sandwiched between the Kanakadea Creek and the base of Pine Hill, had an odd dial-type clock that made it difficult to know for sure when time had expired.....

Heck, Pep's rambling (again)....perhaps Pep should just write a book. Suffice it to say, there's a similar heritage of football at Alfred that's fodder for a book much like "The Sweet Season." But for now, AU Pep Band has been invited to strike up the fight song before the highlight film at Saturday's football banquet...so Pep needs to pass the word along to get the band ready!

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Touchdown Tommy

You just rollin' outta bed, Flash???

Wonka: Just remember you have invaluable dirt to be shed at a future date...

Fins: Did you make it to the game last night?  I need to know if this means the J's jump ahead of the hated Toms in the rankings...

Tmerton must be busy this week out at PEBBLE BEACH.
