Pep, I hope you can make it to Collegeville for a game this fall. If you stay with your cousin in Savage, let me know. It is not too far from where I live. I would be happy to pick you up and transport you to Collegeville. You would be an honored guest at the Stiftungsfestivities. If you have any type of relationship with Paris Hilton, bring her along. ;)

Fins: Did you make it to the game last night?  I need to know if this means the J's jump ahead of the hated Toms in the rankings...

No, didn't make it out to the game. I was listening to the Big Lebowski call the game on the radio out in the gee-rodge, while I tinkered with my antique snowmobiles.

I need to have them ready to pull the hoops bandwagon if we get a lot of snow.

Johnnie Red:
Alfred has a Week One open date (that's when Pep holds Band Camp) so, since Pep can't direct himself out of a paper bag anyway, perhaps he'll get a real band director to take on Band Camp and Pep will meander to Minnesota for the Johnnies' opener with Marietta Sept. 1. Pep appreciates the kind invitation and, having seen some of the Stiftungsfestivities website, is looking forward to it. Pep realizes it probably doesn't bode well in Red's eyes that Pep has a dear friend who's an alum of Bethel now pastoring a church in Milton, WI. Unfortunately, Pep has not had relations with Paris Hilton.

Pep, even with the dear friend who went to Bethel, you would still be welcomed in Collegeville. To have the strength and courage to admit such a friendship speaks well for you. ;)

Not only SJU, but the MIAC.

QuoteMIAC claims 2006 Division III Football Attendance Title

http://www.miac-online.org/news230.html
February 8, 2007

St. Paul, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) led all NCAA Division III conferences in football attendance for the second straight season in 2006. The conference's nine teams averaged 3,222 fans per game, which was a 204 spectator per contest increase over last season. Over 46 home contests in 2006, the MIAC total attendance was 148,203 fans.

For the 10th time in 14 years, Saint John's University was the top ranked institution among NCAA Division III football attendance leaders. Saint John's averaged a school-record 8,547 fans per game and attracted 51,284 spectators during six home games in 2006, an increase of 622 spectators per game from last year's figures. The Johnnies average attendance of 8,547 per game outdistanced second-place Wabash (Ind.) at 5,447 fans per game.

The MIAC's attendance mark was also bolstered by three institutions with average attendances in the top 20 nationally. They included Concordia College-Moorhead with 3,747 fans per game, followed by Bethel University (3,684), and St. Olaf College (3,424).

Following the MIAC in Division III conference attendance was the American Southwest Conference with 2,742 fans per game, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (2,667), Old Dominion Conference (2,437) and New England Small College Conference (2,430).

NCAA overall football attendance set a new standard during the 2006 season as 615 schools combined for a total gate of 47,909,313, shattering the 2003 record by 1,764,774 fans. Division III realized an increase of 11,727 fans from 2005 to 2,099,746 in 2006. Coincidentally, the average number of fans per game (1,840) matched the number from 2005.

Michigan once again led Division I-A in attendance by averaging 110,026 spectators per game, Montana led Division I-AA by averaging 22,600 spectators per game and Fort Valley State (Ga.) led Division II by averaging 13,682 spectators per game.

With signing day passed, has anyone heard where Cretin's QB (Springer) decided to go? I know he was looking at few MIAC and Ivy league schools.

Would the Sept. 1 Marietta game be a good one to attend? Pep will need to look up Marietta to get some info.

Yes.

The Warrior is back to say:

Wonka "borrowed" a shirt from me to play basketball in, then never returned it. The only thing saving his live is having a cool sister.

Gustavus upset St. Thomas in basketball last night, once again proving that I and Frank R are better than TDT.  Wonka, I can't include youi in on this until I get my shirt back...and you start drinking beer.

I just saw Robert Goulet in a Emeralds Nuts commercial, thereby making my day.

that is all.
I'd post a lot more if I had a real job

Brown.

What do you all think about this?

There is still a lot of solid players that didn't sign yesterday that are available to the DIII schools of the state. Somebody is going to get a nice quarterback in Dan Raisanen from Dassel-Cokato. Just ask his coach. He said junior colleges were a liklihood for a few of his players.

Well, being that his coach is a Johnnie, I hope he steers him the right direction ;)

PI - GAC was looking to start some sort of random drug testing in 2005. I believe everything was all set to start in following Luther's gameplan, but I haven't heard anything about it since I graduated. It may have fallen through when the cost to do so was tallied.

Mongo - I just put your shirt in the wash. It will come back next time I'm invited over.

Update on GAC's football stadium
Who starts digging BEFORE getting bids from contractors? I may be a rookie with such endeavors (if you don't count my extensive Madden stadium building projects), but that seems simply asinine to me. Sounds like it isn't a sure thing to get done by next fall as well, which could be interesting... ???
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.
