ESQ: Agreed about Ray Christensen. Guys like him, Carneal, Harwell, etc., made me want to be a broadcasters. I didn't have the guts to put my college degree aside and pursue it full time, but listening to those guys growing up taught me a lot about the games, as well as how to call them.

And nothing like listening to Al Shaver calling the North Stars while driving through a snow storm to see the girlfriend.  :-*

By the way, Norm Green still sucks.  :-X

TDT: Any fearless predictions on the hardwood tilt this evening?  ???

Often times even if I was watching the Twins would turn the sound off on the TV and listen to Herb!

sumander, be careful not to turn down the sound when Bert is on.

You might miss the next f'nheimer he throws out to the airwaves.  :D

First off: Was it worth it?   8)  8)

Second: You know the routine BDB, Gators by 15.  If you've learned anything it is that Touchdown Tommy is a great sports mind.  Wager accordingly...

TDT - Said girlfriend turned into said wife who worked for the North Stars for several years in the accounting department.

Free season tickets had me and the wife/employee attending virtually every game during the good old days of Bobby Smith et al.

Was/is worth it.  ;)

I'm psyched. Fins IV and I will be enjoying a meal of hotdogs, beans and chips before we settle in front of the large screen with our peanuts and beer (root for him, Hamm's for me). Hope it's broadcast in HD.
Go Twins!

Mongo - If you promise to TiVo the season finale of "I Love New York" for me this Monday night, I'll bring your shirt back the next time I'm invited over.

I have more respect for myself than to watch or even TiVo a show as bad as "I Love New York"

Now "Bad Girls Club", that's a good "reality" show
I'd post a lot more if I had a real job

KR - why waste your time on women's sports if you dislike it so much?  Did your wife make you watch it?

My son scrimmaged the women's team at ND his senior year.  He used to express views similar to yours about women's athletics but earned a good deal of respect for them after that year.  Strap it on with a good women's team and I doubt you would be boasting as you do.  BTW, I don't watch the WNBA either and Title IX grates on me in many respects, but there's no need to go overboard.  I haven't heard the WNBA players demanding pay equity and it's easy not to watch them.

Besides, you may be blessed with daughters.  I hope so. :D

I didn't watch it, one of the few times I've been grateful not to have cable, otherwise I might have stumbled across it and seen a few seconds.

In high school, our wrestling team scrimmaged our girl's b-ball team. Our tallest guy was 5'11, they had 3 girls 6'1 or better. We won 42-15 without taking a shot inside of halfcourt for the entire last 5 minutes.

Odds are I will have daughters and they'll probably play some sorts of sports, at least I'll be watching my daughters which will maybe give me something to make it more interesting.

And one of them could be a future Touchdown Tommy Trophy Wife....Oh the irony
TDT, my daughters will have too much class in their little fingers to marry the likes of you. Besides, something tells me you'd be more attracted to my sons.

Really TALL daughters!!!    ;D ;D

I'm 5'11, their mom is 5'6. Not real worried about that one!

Reason #5,493 not to watch women's basketball at any level:

Umm KR, could you run through the first 5492 reasons again?  ;D

Most of them have to do with the lack of skill, lack of entertainment and my preference to watch paint dry.

Buckeyes win 72-64 You heard it here first!

In his post-game conference, Billy Donovan announces he's going to Kentucky and will henceforth be called Billy-Bob Donovan.

KR here for my reservation, party of 1, I'll be having a large heaping of crow with a side of sour grapes.

I'll be taking this to go for a hiatus into the thinking chambers to ponder the implications of Florida now owning a large land mass in the midwest between Pennsylvania and Indiana.

I will return after Donovan signs with Kentucky or after I figure out what the hell a Joakim is and which Star Wars it was in.
