KR - why waste your time on women's sports if you dislike it so much?  Did your wife make you watch it?

My son scrimmaged the women's team at ND his senior year.  He used to express views similar to yours about women's athletics but earned a good deal of respect for them after that year.  Strap it on with a good women's team and I doubt you would be boasting as you do.  BTW, I don't watch the WNBA either and Title IX grates on me in many respects, but there's no need to go overboard.  I haven't heard the WNBA players demanding pay equity and it's easy not to watch them.

Besides, you may be blessed with daughters.  I hope so. :D

I didn't watch it, one of the few times I've been grateful not to have cable, otherwise I might have stumbled across it and seen a few seconds.

In high school, our wrestling team scrimmaged our girl's b-ball team. Our tallest guy was 5'11, they had 3 girls 6'1 or better. We won 42-15 without taking a shot inside of halfcourt for the entire last 5 minutes.

Odds are I will have daughters and they'll probably play some sorts of sports, at least I'll be watching my daughters which will maybe give me something to make it more interesting.

You'll like this one, KR.  One of the OL from my son's school (good kid, big kid) went to Carleton.  However, in his SR year of HS he also wrestled.  This being the Bay Area, wrestling here is coed (big woop).  Well, poor guy - in the finals of the conference he lost - to a girl.  I shuddered when I saw the report in the local rag.  Poor guy.

He's back home now - only lasted one year at Carleton - seems he reinjured his shoulder so isn't going to be playing any more football.  And maybe he didn't like the coed dorms.  Anyway - one story in the many in the big city.  But he wasn't a bad fb player (believe me, if my son says a guy isn't bad, he can't suck).

Saw this gem on a bumper sticker today...

That is a fantastic bumper sticker...............

Just wanted to make a stop by to point you all to my blog. Will you enjoy it? Probably not, considering it's for the most part devoted to Nebraska Football and the Big 12. But if your bored and are looking to see what I'm thinking on a given day, its something for you to check out. I'll be getting back on here more often as football season nears, and if I hear anything about spring ball......anywho....

Tonight it's Boof under the roof for win #2.  ;D

Fins I thought about you eating dogs, beans and chips all through the game last night with son-of-a-fins.

Having beers, you Hamm's him root.  ;)

We grilled steaks to mark Opening Day.

Heard a great Herb Carneal story on the radio yesterday.

Seems back in the '60's he and Halsey Hall were doing a game out in Anaheim.

They were remarking on how romantic this one couple was sitting in front of them.

Halsey Hall said "They kiss on every pitch. He kisses her on the strikes and she kisses him on the balls."

Apparently there was no announcing for about 10 minutes after that, just crowd noise.  :D

Top of the morning to you BDB.  TDT has been tackling the day since 4:45am.  That's how we roll baby (as my buddy DustySJU says)...

I was thinking that BDB may want to become the "Official Convenience Store" of the MN Twins.  Be a win/win.  Tickets, advertising, mode of entry into the Twin Cities marketplace, excellent opportunity to expand the empire...

I think I'll stick with being the official convenience store chain of Stiftungsfestivities instead.  ;)

Pohlad would want a king's ransom for teaming up with him.

TDT - you called the Gators by 15. What happened?  ???  ;D

Geez, BUd, why not a Bethel blog? What possesses an Iowa guy who attended Bethel to be a Husker fan?  Why take two hits?

FWIW, I spent 2 years in Lincoln and had an office in Burnett Hall (that's the classroom building closest to Memorial Stadium).  My best Husker story: I was flying out of Lincoln on the same small plane as Dave Remington when he was flying down to Houston to sign his contract with the Oilers (c. 1983 - right around the time TDT was born).  Dave was a, ahem, big guy (we'll leave for now the probable cause for the sudden development of all those enormous All-American linemen at UNL - almost none of whom ever made a dint in the NFL - a la Tony Mandarich).  The pilot had to come back and ask Dave to change his seat to move further back toward the tail; he wanted to make sure he could get the nose up on takeoff. :D

And did I mention those were real venison weiners, from Sam, my neighbor across the street, grilled to perfection (crispy, but not too crispy)?
For tonight's pre-game meal we switch gears. It looks like take-out Chinese from the Hong Kong Restaurant, washed down with the same 2 beer varieties from the Bob & Steves mugs.

Good call on the Gators, TDT. WIsh I was back in Gatorville, it's snowing like crazy here today.  :P

That story was told about Dizzy Dean and Buddy Blattner at a Cardinal game about 20 years before that.   ;D

I've got it circled on my calendar already.  8)

Excellent!

I've been having a big day.

Besides the Aquafest deal.......

I just learned that we got selected by Skoal to go to the Indy 500 and sit in their VIP suite, which is sweet!  :)

Everyday should be like this.  8)

You lead a charmed life, BDB.

I see Trick Pony is scheduled for Thursday and Blood, Sweat & Tears for Saturday...nice lineup!

Now if anybody has any leads on tickets for the Kentucky Derby....that's where I want to spend my 50th birthday, soaking in a mint julep.
