Can't believe I believed the cable box on screen guide and missed the game.  >:(

Hopefully the boys can make the adjustment to playing in the 30's in Chi-Town.

In the meantime, the A's get their pre-game dance on.

I'm with you fins. Wild and Frozen Four on the Duece. Sioux/BC game @ 7pm should be the championship tilt.

Sioux have played in three straight pressure cooker games! As much as I hate the Sioux you gotta pull for the WCHA!

Fin's Jonesing????

Did you guys see the story about this pervert?

"Paton apologized to his victims, drawing special attention to the fact that one of his victims was turning 16 today. Choking back tears, he said to that boy: "Goodbye. I love you. I miss you already."

I think Paton will be making some new "friends" in the joint.

Border wars, eh?  I was hoping for an ND vs ND final but the other ND didn't come through.  But I, too, will root for this ND - or for any other team that plays BC.  BTW, do the "Fight and Sue" have their special non-ethnic uniforms and banners for the NCAAs?  Or did they just put tape over the offending words?

Maine's up on Michigan State 3-0 after the first.

Tmert. I think they just have to cover the logos if they are hosting an event at the Ralph! I do know they didn't have the Sioux logo covered whne they took care of the Golden Rodents in the West region finals.! :(

Looks like they made Maine give one of those first period goals to MSU.  Final: MooU 4, Maine 2.

Based on this AP article from August 2005, team uniforms can't have Native American mascots on them during championships ...

Associated Press

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA banned the use of Native American mascots by sports teams during its postseason tournaments, but will not prohibit them otherwise.

The NCAA's executive committee decided this week the organization did not have the authority to bar Indian mascots by individual schools, committee chairman Walter Harrison said Friday.

Nicknames or mascots deemed "hostile or abusive" would not be allowed on team uniforms or other clothing beginning with any NCAA tournament after Feb. 1, said Harrison, the University of Hartford's president.

"What each institution decides to do is really its own business" outside NCAA championship events, Harrison said.

"What we are trying to say is that we find these mascots to be unacceptable for NCAA championship competition," he added.

I swear to God that's what the official NCAA Frozen Four website said. Maine up 3-0 after the first.

When I went home and saw the real score, I knew you guys would fry me.  :D

Once again, thanks NCAA.  :P

BDB,
Thanks for waking me from my offseason hibernation. I'd watched the 1st period and saw Maine gets up 2-0 in the first 3 minutes then get blanked. Love the Frozen Four, although the 2nd game last night was probably the title game. And it's a shame they put the U and UND in the same regional. Both teams could have beaten MSU or Maine. But them's the breaks.

tmert,
before this season, the last decent Irish team include the flyer great Dave Poulin, a tremendous keeper from IFalls named Dave Laurion and Don Lucia, the Gophs coach. ND Coach was the amazing Lefty Smith. They've stunk for decades.

to steer this back to FB, Lucia's dad was a hard-nosed old coach up in the northern stick. once after a particularly bad effort, he stopped the bus a mike from school, got the players out ... then made them push the bus back.

and here's the kicker: it was a nine-man.

repete, Some of the things the "range" Fb coaches did were outrageous. I remember hearing the story about John Davies, long time coach at Crosby-Ironton. He was unhappy the way his team hit in a game, so on Saturday morning he brought the boys in and lined up half the squad on each goal line. One by one, A player from each goal line would start running full speed toward mid field where he would meet that player from the other goal line. If they didn't hit hard enough, weren't running fast enough or coach wasn't pleased they went back and did it again! I believe he got one of his better running backs hurt during this little drill.

Speaking of recruiting, two D3 schools in Southern California - California Lutheran and La Verne - have gone almost two months and still have not filled vacancies in their head football coach positions.  No public announcements and no end in sight.  How do you think recruiting is going for them?  Must be that laid back SoCal lifestyle.  :o
