Royce-Diop was listed as a senior on the football roster last year but I see he is listed as a junior on the baseball roster.   ???

Royce-Diop did not play baseball last year, therefore, he has another year of eligibility on the diamond.

I thought they were all studying for their GEDs right now...

And I haven't been to the post office yet to see any Auggie ones on the wall...

Seriously, I've seen Thurston play a few times (headed to Bethel, I believe) and he is a very good athlete, but is a bit of a tweener-- his best fit would be as a safety, IMO, but he was All-State Honorable Mention at running back, for which I think he's a bit small/thin for the rigors of the MIAC.  His arm isn't strong enough to be a QB, but that could be improved.  Concordia ran the spread option which gave him lots of touches, and he was pretty good at shedding tackles.

I saw tape of Overman and he was fundamentally solid.  Billy Lawrence and Griffin Hayes were St. Thomas Academy's defense this past year, so that's a nice pickup for SJU.

I have seen Hengel, Virnig, Rotschafer and Gieske play.  Really nice additions for the Johnnies.  I am certain they all recevied DII offers. What happened to the WR from Alexandria?  Anyone else see any of the Johnnie recruits in action?

Coach Gagliardi on the cover and a feature article in Athletic Management mag, April/May issue. Article is on "Thinking outside the coaching box," which he clearly does.

Willy Wonka

*GAC football update, skip over if you're so inclined*

Wonka spent the day on the GAC campus yesterday working (in Mongo's t-shirt while he undoubtably lounged 3 blocks away, oblivious), and was able to confirm a rumor I first heard roughly 3 weeks ago.

GAC's Jay Schoenebeck has handed over the reins of the offense to assistant Tom Brown. With the transferred playcalling duties, the best QB is GAC history - Bobby Southworth - may also reassume his role with the offense after taking over the DBs when he butted heads with Schoeny one too many times over the play selection.

Is this enough to take GAC to the next level? That remains to be seen, though the football team is buzzing with anticipation. However, I think it should be enough to make them prohibitive/prohibited (What's correct here? I always just mumble it when I say it) favorites over the Hamline's of the world once again. Hey, aim-small, miss-small, right? :)

For what it's worth, the only time Brownie has been able to call plays in the last five years or so GAC went to the lockerroom up 34-0 this past fall over Augsburg. Granted, Auggie Tech was winless and terrible...but they managed to outscore GAC 27-7 when Schoeny reassumed control at halftime.

In other news, the equipment manager could not confirm that the new stadium would be done in time to open next season. Wonka was too lazy to bother asking anyone else if this is truly a real concern. Developing...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

By next season, do you mean 2007 or 2008?
