Duff, now you need to scratch that church wedding and have JR do the honors.  ;D

Cue the Flintstones Music: "For he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow..."

The Godfather is extremely deserving.  I am appalled that Gustiesoaps newspaper account failed to recognize his long term dedication and charitable giving to the Stiftungsfestivities in Collegeville, MN.  This guy is beyond generous and always the most hospitable (even to the Bethel fans).  Heads need to roll.

BlueDevil Bob: The Patriots are the clear favorites to win the Super Bowl.  This is the model franchise of the NFL.  I am thinking the 72 Dolphins may be going down this year.  Just a hunch...

Great work Johnnie Red.  I move that you change your name to "Johnnie Judge" or "Judge Johnnie" in honor of the new gig.

Oyez, oyez, oyez - All rise for the Honorable Jonnie Red.  Congratulations to hizzonor!

I suspect this means the stories about the latest cases may come to an end.  Guess we'll have to wait for his memoirs - My Thirty Years on the Bench.

Yeah, I don't think that our Catholic families would go for that idea.

Johnnie Red

My thanks to everyone for the congrats! Very interesting process to go through to get the appointment. I must admit that I did have a Bethel grad praying for me that I would get the judgeship. :o

When I had my interview with the judicial selection commission back on February 21, I was asked by one of the members what I liked to do when I wasn't at work. My response: Johnnie football. He was somewhat dumbfounded, but most of the other commission members got it since they knew about my passion for SJU.

It will be so nice to be in a position of authority to pass judgment on Bethel grads, permit Willy Wonka to change his name to I'm a Donka and to hold TDT in contempt. ;)

Once I have the date for the official swearing in, I will post it since everyone on the board will be invited. There will be a Stiftungsfestivities celebration that same day, hopefully someplace in Shakopee. Developing....

As to changing my board name to Judge Johnnie, I will probably stick with Johnnie Red. Don't ever want to be accused of having "black robe disease." ;)

JR, first of all congratulations on the appointment, that is quite a honor.

Second, during this process did you get a chance to ask Gov. Pawlenty the reason he wouldn't do the coin toss for the SJU/BU tilt in 2005?

I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Johnnie Red,

Congratulations on the well deserved honor.  Looking forward to your swearing in.

Here you go, JR. Get used to it. ;)

Two duck hunters ran into one another early one morning. One of them noticed that the other's dog was just sitting there, with no interest in retrieving any of the fowl his master downed.

The first hunter asked, "What's wrong with your dog? The last time I saw him he was one of the best bird dogs I'd ever seen!"

"Well," the other hunter replied. "His name's Lawyer. He used to run all over creation working hard and getting the job done. Then one day, someone made the mistake of calling him Judge. Now all he does is sit on his ass and bark."

I didn't know you had to be a judge to hold TDT in contempt. If that's the case, how did he become our worthy President?  ???
