If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Oh my....The Godfather giving some DAP to Kilted Rat and the Stiftungsfestivities.  Very nice piece.

JR,

Nice article.  That really speaks to the man you are.  Hope all is going well in the new judgeship.  Glad you were not like another prosecutor in the news lately.  My heart may be with the Dutch but being born in the great state of Minnesota there are always ties to that state.

Nice piece JR. Quite a legacy in your family.  :)

My little league squad had a barn burner last night. Playing the team with the other half of the hockey kids on it, it was grudge match city.

Son of BDB goes 3 for 3 and our pitching held up going into the bottom half of the last inning we are up 6-1.

Suddenly, under the lights, the other side turns into the 1988 Oakland A's and the ball is flying all over the place. Game is 6-5 now bases loaded 1 out.

We decide to bring in Drew to pitch. He is one of our best hockey players, best athelete on the team. Problem is he is either Nolan Ryan in his prime or he can't hit the broad side of the barn, one of the two.

Well, last night he was Nolan Ryan in his prime. Drew slices and dices the next 2 batters. BDB's team wins 6-5 with the other squad leaving bases loaded.

Victory against the other hockey/baseball team was sweet.  ;D

Thanks for all the kudos. To make sure the record is correct, KR brought the burger down to Salem via his dad's truck, not on the bus. KR picked up the burger the Thursday before the Stagg Bowl in Maple Grove and then drove to Ohio to hook up with his dad.

Speaking of Tommies, I had a young man appear in court before me Monday afternoon. He had a misdemeanor offense which he pled guilty to. His attorney said he was a college student and wanted a break on the fine because of that fact. The attorney then mentioned that he goes to St. Thomas.

At that point I raised my hand and stopped the proceeding. I told the young man I was a Johnnie and inquired if he still wanted to go ahead with the plea. The concern was whether I could be fair and impartial to a Tommie. ;) The defendant got a smirk on his face and his mother, who was also present, started to laugh. Needless to say, we went ahead with the plea and I did give him a break on the fine.

After court was over, I tracked the young lad down by probation and took him to my chambers and gave him a tour of the Johnnie shrine. He did acknowledge how much better the Johnnies are in football vs. the Tommies. Turns out he graduated with my daugther from Chaska H.S. He also wants to go to law school in the future.

JR;  The infraction should qualify him for long career in law enforcement.  DSJU

Ironically, it seems the Johnnie-Tommie agon may have worked to the young man's advantage.  :o

[An editorial note--Agon was word of the day for June 20th.  My agon was to find why it changed.  A more languid effort on my part may have failed in solving this dilemma.  One of the supplements in the D-IV Working Group Document addresses the vocaulary requirements for message board contributors in D-IV. --Ralph Turner]  ;)

I think sports writers have had to become pretty familiar with the criminal plea process. ;)
