+K for the great analysis of what's wrong with the NHL.

...and for pointing out that the NHL is NOT the NBA....

(I once had someone tell me that the average NBA player was tougher than the aveage NHL player....and he was serious)....unreal

JR,

How was the Cubs game last night? I got vetoed out on driving 50 minutes to eat burgers (the best in the world) and watch a game between two teams of no interest to me (so I was told).

I'll make it to MIAC Night sometime in my lifetime.

The Gagliardi special was on FSN this afternoon again.  How long now until practice starts...

Piperinsider, the MIAC Night went well. Weather was perfect, the Cubs beat Apple Valley and we sold 120 Stiftungsfest burgers. We had alums at the game from SJU, St. Olaf and Gustavus. Sorry you couldn't make it.

While I'm sure it's a rhetorical question, players report Aug. 12.

Had my first fat tire last night at Patrick's.  Even at 7.95 a bottle, it was still pretty tasty stuff.  They have to drive up to the cities and buy it on their own  at a liquor store since there is no distributor of it down here.

As a recent SJU grad and friend of many SJU Rugby player I can attest to the wonders that the Hamm's Bear symbolizes.  A friend of mine claims that her Uncle worked for Hamm's and was actually responsible for drawing the Bear.  Seems a little contrary to the website's info though, she certainly has no Ojibwa affiliation in her family.

As far as the Twins go I enjoyed a great game Saturday, Joe's inside the parker was fun to watch.  As a Red Sox fan first and foremost who just enjoyed 3 easy wins in a row I think I know the cure for the Twins offensive woes...play the White Sox as much as possible, they totally blow.

Is Dusty still on this board?  You have any kids yet?

My buddy Brian who I went o HS with out east (hence being a BoSOX fan) is now living in SC writing Sport for the times, he called me last summer when he was offered the job and wanted to know what SC was like.  Had to bite my tounge before I responded.  Either way hes a great writer and super smart guy, his weekly column is available online every monday.

Right on BDB! Who is the fruitcake that wrote that? No way does the Hamm's bear get beat out by a dandy in oh-so-ghey outfit. What a farce.

TDT's Vegas Agenda may or may not include...

*Bernard Hopkins vs. Winky Wright fight Sat night at the Mandalay Bay (on HBO Pay per view)

*Celine Dion Concert

*A bender in the recliner at the Caesars Sportsbook

*4 hours of sleep

*Appearance at Minxx paying homage to Pac Man Jones "making it rain"

*Harry Potter campout at the Barnes and Noble on The Strip

*Lounging by the pool fighting off the dreaded Level 6 hangover (tough duty reference Finsleft pictorial)

Fellas the trip was a success.  I have been baptized to Vegas and will be making numerous return trips.  What a place.  Weekend consisted of sports wagering, a few slots, many brews (including an extra tasty Alaskan Amber Ale), numerous hot broads, and unreal eye candy around the pools.

Celebrities spotted by TDT include: Joe Montana, Steve Smith, Shaun Alexander, Shawn Springs, Kenyon Martin, and former heavyweight champion of the world, Hasim Rahman (sp?).  Oh and 2 Wild players...Brent Burns and a TBD'd blonde Euro

A big thank you to my buddy finsleft for maintaining order in the MIAC PP while I was away.  Much appreciated and you can sleep well tonite knowing that I enjoyed a frosty beverage in your honor down in the Boogie Down...

For one thing, you can tell that the Striding Man is definately off to do his drinking in a place where his pink underwear will soon be off.  :P

The Hamm's Bear however, looks like he tipped a few on the boat while catching some pike and is now heading for his HD Plasma TV to watch some baseball.  ;D
