Veek

Hello friends,

I just caught up reading the last 600 pages of post patterns.  It took the last half of July but now I am finally finished.

Given my extended hiatus it was nice to see that I only had to go back a few pages to find mention of myself.

I'm gearing up for the annual stiftungsfestivities push which will begin shortly.

What a dumb move by Luberts.  Enough said.

And then last night to see the bridge collapse.  My heart goes out to all those affected by the tragedy.

Duff - nice bass back a few pages.  I had one of my St. Croix rods break on me while walleye fishing a few years ago.  I mailed it in and then received a new one.  I love the sensitivity of their rods but they do break occasionally.

Ritz - feel free to stop by and play poker anytime.  Our group is always happy to accept new money.

Fins - we should get together and play a round of golf this summer.  Of course we would need to be accompanied by 12 or so Hamms.  Ritzy can join us.

Frank - are you ready to break in the new stadium this year?  It looks sweet.

TDT - I can't believe it but somehow you have managed to remain on this site.  I applaud you for controlling yourself.  I'm sure it was eerie to be so close to the collapse last night.

JR - get those grills scrubbed up for another grilling season.  See Fins if they are in need of any repairs.

ROR - I hope your back is doing well and you are in prime shape for another football season.

Zip - I hope Kim, you, and your family are all doing well.  Plan to get up to a regular season game this year.

Football season is almost upon us.  I love this time of year.

Oh, and GO JOHNNIES!!
Go Johnnies!!!

D O.C.

My heartfelt prayers to everyone whose life will never be quite the same.

I, too, took a second look at that bridge last month on my first ever visit to Land o' Lakes. It just had a noticeable presence.

I was there to visit my cousin and learned her husband is head of that hospital right by the Dome.  I would imagine he has not been home for hours. He has struggled to keep the emergency facilities there viable to the community. What a way to get attention to the problem.

Condolences to all. A classmate of my youngest brother is among the missing.

As mentioned, those side rails always stood out as too low.

The Strib had an interesting list of bridges today. http://www.startribune.com/10204/story/1341088.html

I'm headed to the area next week and it's good to see that the state had already closed two of those bridges (a 34 and 20.4) on the route home. I don't think I'll mind the detour as much.

Here, I'll link a happier story to help change the focus a little bit. It may not bring us all the way back to the merry days of ripping Mies and Meidt, but it's a start :)

PS - Frank is currently begging for TDT to use his mom's credit card to finance a PP trip to Kansas City next week...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Wonka, u going to K.C.? I'll be down Tuesday through Thursday afternoon. Student tickets $3 on Wednesday.

Story from the Daily Planet on the Golden Rodents invading Collegeville. Hard to believe the players will be able to go all week without cell phones!  ;)
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

PI - Was, until Frank bailed for being broke. I refuse to do anything with just TDT. I don't trust that dude after all the stories I've heard...

FYI: Don't assume that I would willingly spend time with WONKA either...

RE: WE Fest

Awaiting official report from Finsleft about the festival.  Just read a story on the strib.com and sounds like it was a wild weekend.  Hopefully Finsleft participated in the Watermelon contest...

Veek: Pay attention now and don't fall 600 pages behind!!!!  Need to get focused for the season now.  You have NO idea the self-control that I must exert at times.  Good to have the old veteran back and ready for the 2K7 season...

Speaking of the Florwegians, does anybody know if it is possible to get tickets to the Johnnie/Ole game ahead of time. I sure don't want to drive 1300 miles and then not get tickets.  ???

57Johnnie,

They never sell out of general admission tickets.  And I am sure one of the esteemed posters on this site will have a spare reserved seat or two to offer up.

Thanks +k. I sent an e-mail to the Athletic Dept. I'll see what they say.

So I'll be back in the land of Hamm's later this week and while that brew won't be hard to find, how about Fat Tire? I had one on a trip to Missouri in June but would like to have several more on this junket. Haven't found it here on the East Coast.

Is Surdyk's the best bet? Did someone say $40/case? After buying quarts of Walters (actually marked "Family Size") for 47 cents back in Waite Park during the "olden days"... well, I'm sure it's worth it.

Any recs for a good meal in MSP? Nothing too fancy but a nice place with a leisurely, casual dinner? Thanks.

Can't decide if I should swing by 56321 to check out the rodents ...

DuffMan

Should be able to find Fat Tire just about anywhere.  I found it in St. Cloud a few weeks ago, even.  In the cities, I know MGM and Byerly's carry it for $4 a 22oz bottle.  I know I have seen it at other liquor stores, but I am positive those two have it.  It's become very common in the month we've had it.

I would recommend trying their 1554, as well.  It is mighty tasty.
