I love how you guys can so efficiently get rid of new non-Johnnie supporters that try to add their 2 cents on this board. Its pretty rediculous. For eternity, everytime you guys want to make a smart a** generalization about another school or its football program -- just remember that a Johnnie football player committed a felony with a 14 year old girl a few weeks ago and think about how rediculous the comments would have been on this board from you clowns if it would have happened to another MIAC football player. I'd predict that anytime a supporter of that MIAC school would have made any comment on this board that would have come up again. Sad but true. Its also sad that the actions of one guy can taint the perception of a whole football program like that.

wahoo, perhaps you should go back a few weeks period of time, I believe every regular Johnnie poster chastised said ex-player and his actions.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Here's a good reason to get a Europass on your trip to Germany:

When the beer tap failed on a special train carrying German soccer fans to a match, railway officials halted the train for 25 minutes in order to have a replacement part delivered by taxi.

Where else but Germany could this happen?

I don't pretend to read everypage or go back and review the comments that have been made, because they are very predictable. I'd assume that there have been comments about Hamms and with the Gophers up in Collegeville probably some comments about how the Johnnies could beat the Gophers and maybe some talk about how Kofoed needs to be a man this year and how the Oles have no defense and how Bethel are biblebangers and how sweet Blake Elliot was and how cool Gags is and how some probably were in class with Gags and how sweet that was, etc. Thats about all that is usually talked about. My previous post was just predicting what the conversation might have been. I'm sure the Johnnie faithful did chastise the guy, I'm just saying there never would have been an end to the conversation if it would have happened somewhere else.

Its just funny that eventhough I only check this site once a week or so that everytime I read up it seems these guys are trying to convince some new guy that they have no place posting on this site.

I've never got the feeling that new opinions weren't accepted on here.  Coming in and spouting off a bunch of crap should be, and is, called out.  And  what's the problem with talking about things that are actually occuring, like the Gophers practicing at St. Johns, Oles having no Defense, Tommies Sucking and Bethel being bad?  The reason that there is a majority Johnnie talk is that a lot of the people on here are Johnnies and the Johnnies have proven to be the best team in the MIAC.  That being said...

I had the guys in the bar this week that are putting down the turf at the new Gustie stadium.  They are putting the finishing touches on it tomorrow.  They are saying it's one of the nicest stadiums they've seen...so take that.

I wish I had a Hamm's to drink right now.

Its also sad that the actions of one guy can taint the perception of a whole football program like that.

What is also predictable is every year a few Oles come onto the board early on and talk up their team as the MIAC's answer to Mount Union, and every year when St. Olaf manages to choke when it counts most, those posters seem to enter an early winter hibernation until the whole thing repeats the following year.

Most Johnnies are very interested in what goes on around the MIAC, but we also are pretty knowledgeable and realistic about what the current state of the conference is.  Reusse has picked St. Thomas to win the MIAC title before and we know how far that has helped them.  For recruits, we aren't impressed by a good high school record, and St. Olaf has had a Florida pipeline for years and that hasn't translated to a single MIAC title.  So we'll point out the ridiculousness of the Ole boasters (not boosters) fairly and reasonably.  And when the Royals and Johnnies get together to out the Oles...well, that isn't a good sign...

And by the way, there is an ALLEGED crime to have occurred, since the individual involved is innocent until proven guilty.  However, that said, there hasn't been a single Johnnie excusing his alleged actions and some have been more critical of the school for not being tougher with him.  By and large, the comments here have been far harsher than those found in the St. Cloud Times.  But if you seem to think that the actions of this individual should be imputed to the whole, well, we should talk about the heroin problems in Northfield then...

Esq,

I was going to hit you with some +k and then I noticed you are at 409.  That was my room number in Benet Hall freshman year and the title of an excellent Beach Boys song.

Just couldn't do it.

Willy Wonka

wahoo - Your criticism is likely to fall on deaf ears on here, and has on the few that have already responded. I'm with you though, as your message echoes almost exactly the emails I get from Papa Wonka twice a year saying "I don't even know why I try to read the football board. It's just a bunch of Johnnies talking about how good they were or will be and ripping anyone else who posts."

The obvious problem with the non-SJU posters is many *ARE* bandwagon fans looking to stir up trouble with wild posts. Knowledgable posters — anyone remember USTbenchwarmer?? — who can keep an even keel are generally well received, though those like TDT will attack anything not related to the red and white no matter their message.

With that said, have you ever been to a Stiffyfest? With a few exceptions — TDT being the big one — the SJU posters are good people who provide surprisingly good company even for unabashed SJU haters like me. Some have hot daughters (ROR), some wear ridiculous hats cocked sideways while grilling free food (Judge JR) while others stick to drinking while talking football or making fun of Pat and his brother (Veek, Duffman and all the rest).

PS - Your point about the rape case is duly noted. Had it occurred at Bethel, that would clearly take the place of the win-a-playoff-game trash talk or the no-defense mantra at Olaf. It will be interesting to see how fans around the league take advantage of this golden opportunity to rip the SJU program, on here and with signs in the stands. I can only imagine what OAS would have conjured up if Mac were still on the SJU schedule, or how high Gags would have run up the score in response to OAS' creative genius.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

57jonnie, thanks for the update on the auggies this fall.  Wahoo, you have made some good points.  Throughout the good part of the last 3 years, I have come to this site to catch up on some MIAC football.  Everytime the auggies come up it  isn't really constructive.  But, of course, I understand smack talk is just part of the game.  Beating up on your little brother is kinda easy, isn't it?  57-I highly doubt the Auggies will go winless this year.  Thanks :).  (I'm gonna get slammed for this . . . )

Willy,

I'm just going to let the first part of your post go.   Basically a cut and paste from 12 months ago.

I can't let the last paragraph go.

I was highly impressed with the discussion that took place on this board regarding the alleged rape.   By Johnnies and non-Johnnies.

If a football player from another MIAC school had been involved in something like this I don't think the discussion would have been much different.  Had it gone in the direction you speculate I think there would have been a swift and direct response from other posters, Johnnies and non-Johnnies alike, to bring it back to a respectful dialogue.

You paint with a very broad brush.

p.s.  Not only are my daughters hot, they are highly intelligent and quite mature.  For those reasons, you and TDT don't have a shot.

p.p.s.s.  Does your dad know you refer to him as "Papa Wonka?'
