I know personally, as an Ole fan,  I enjoy reading these postings daily.  They are entertaining and often enough, informative.  I don't usually post but felt as if I should now.

It really doesn't matter how well your team did in high school anymore... Putting a few players from a past successful team on a current team together does not guarantee anything.  There are over 100 other guys they have to work with to find their way to success together as a team.

St. Olaf does not have a great past of defense as a whole.  They really need to step it up this year.

Talking some serious crap will always be a part of fooball, and it's great!  But if you don't have the team to back you up, you deserve all the crap you receive. St. John's football is amazing, no one can deny that no matter how much you hate to admit it.  They can talk the crap because their team has repeatedly backed them up. That doesn't mean that no one else can talk, just be prepared for the fire you may receive in return.

I can not begin to express my excitement for this coming football season!  It is going to be another great year!  Good luck to all MIAC teams and we'll see you on the field!

Boy, I was gone for a couple of days and had to read a novel to catch up! ;D

Welcome Stanbob! As far as I am concerned, feel free to stop by and take the courthouse back to Currie whenever it is convenient for you! ;) The "new" one isn't anywhere as cool as the old one was.

I too miss Mighty Royal. Everytime I channel surf past the Halmark channel and they are showing Walker Texas Ranger I think of him! :D

I took a mini vacation up to Portland so that my credit card and I could spend some quality time together downtown! ;) I also took a jetboat cruise from Portland to Astoria. Learned a lot about the shipping industry, Lewis and Clark and bar/river pilots. I also learned that standing unprotected on the deck while cruising at 35 knots is not for the weak at heart or easily chilled. ;D The Maritime Museum in Astoria is amazing! I gained a whole new respect for the Coast Guard. :D

I think i'll put the auggies favored over Northwestern, although they will have the advantage with one game already under the belt.  Is Haege gonna get smart and start camp a week earlier like the rest of the MIAC (anybody know how many other teams start a week later or do I not know what I am talking about?).  From what I saw last year the auggies had a very young team.  They had about 7-8 freshmen starting on defense and prob 5-6 on offense.  The offense had some good moments where everything was clicking (the gustie game for example).  But who knows, I would think after a year of playing together the offense and defense should improve (graduated prob 8 seniors last year).  Haege is also a decent recruiter with his Arena football connections so they could get lucky with a couple of stud players but it's all up in the air for now.  I would give them the benefit of the doubt and say they will most likely win at least 3 games this season if not more.  They will prob rank 2nd or 3rd place at the end of the season.  And Haege will be closer to another MIAC championship.  I'm just kidding.  Usually that's what auggie fans say every year.  I bet you were thinking I was serious and getting ready to post the crap out of me . . .  ;D

Greetings MIAC PP's,

Fall camp has finally arrived!  Which means only 3 weeks til the start of an exciting MIAC season.  Good thing that there is always a few things that will be guaranteed before the season starts. 1) Gags will be SJU coach forever 2) Bethel sucks 3) Coach Meidt will be disliked by everyone in the league.

Question for the johnnie faithful...who is vying for the RB job after Luberts transferred for his legal issue?

Baby Biggin

Hi,
Obviously from my number of posts you can tell I am new to the board. I have been reading for a while, but noticed a lack of Oles. I thought I might add a voice to their numbers.

So my question is for those other Oles or those that want to contribute. Where do you think Matt Penz will be on the career passing records after this season. He comes after a string of record setting oles, Senske and Wilsey. (I was there when Wilsey took 3rd for career passing yards). But Penz had a great 2006 season and it looks like he will do even better this year. He returns with Horace Gant and Andrew Schmiesing to throw to. Also I have never seen up and coming Ryan Saint John drop a ball. These are the top 3 while the oles have many other competent receivers.

Yes the Defense has had trouble, but look for a strong Ole Defense this season. Maybe some changes have been made...

Whew!  You know football season is approaching when new faces start showing up and football actually gets discussed.

As for the running back question, Patnode is back (102 carries for 446 yards, 13 games in 2006).  Aaron Blackmore apparently has a broken hand right now, but he looked good in 2006 (28 carries for 116 yards in 9 games) and should be back by the first game.  He's a bigger running back that Patnode.  I also remember Mark Waring looking fairly promising in the limited action he saw.

I've also read of a Nate Anderson who has bounced around to Concordia St. Paul and SW Texas State who could also be a running back.

Plus, I'm sure someone else will pop out of the woodwork!

A tradition unrivaled...

I thought they all lived in Florida (along with Tommie) until school started.

Biggin, Banana:
Youse guys circle October 6th on your calendars, big homecoming game in Collegeville. We'll feed you first, then we'll see about that defense of yours.  ;)

Nice to have you on board. All this Hamm's talk really gets old after a while. ::)

The first permissible day of practice is dependent on the date of your first game and the day classes begin.

bennie,
Have you started to put together a bunch of minnows to break this record yet?  ???

That is impressive!

I am a delicate flower that requires an indoor heated pool. No open water swiming for me! :D

On my Astoria trip I learned that to be a Coast Guard rescue swimmer you have to be able to swim 25 yards underwater 4 times in a row with no more than a 90 second rest between laps. I would be a floater before I made it the first 25 yards underwater! :P

I was also there the day Wilsey took third for career passing yards... Penz is going to be huge this year!  He had an amazing 2006 season behind that Olaf O-line.  He has quite the arm and I think he will surpass Hammond, Ohm, Wilsey, and Karpinski, and possibly Senske.    Thank goodness that he still has Schmies to throw to this season after his outstanding achievement in baseball.  St. John, well both of them, are great football players as well, and Horace has amazing speed  Endsley is another player to look to for leadership in his return yardage.  This offense is quite experienced and I would say have proven themselves to be great, I'm hoping the defense is better this year and can bring this team together to make this another great season for the Oles.

The game versus St. John's is always the date I look for first when checking out the upcoming year's schedule... can't wait for it!

As for the Florida thing, I believe that one of the coaches previously coached there or something like that to start the recruiting process and as more guys from florida come up, they recruit friends from home for the next year.

Since I knew you were a delicate flower, I wasn't asking about you doing any of the swimming  ;D
