I won't be able to attend next week's game so if someone else wants to bring a grill and brats to help ease JR's workload I'm sure he would appreciate it.

Clark, I hope your son's knee is fine.

Go Johnnies!!!

As I'm reading the board, I had the Food Channell on in the background. They had a show on Diners throughout the country. The show after that was about vending machines. They had an interesting fact. In the past five years, over 40 people have been killed trying to shake food out of vending machines, and having them fall on them. Just another way to clean out the gene pool. OOPS!! One less Moe-Ron.

I ain't never had one of them thair vendin masheens falls on me yet.

besides you don't pull them towards you, you lean them back and then let them fall on the front legs so the nutrition gets shaken loose.

Is that a sneaky way of saying you're going to help Frank, Mongo and I baptize the new Gustie stadium??
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Tmert, looking at the recap I see #2 son had 4 tackles including one solo! Not too bad!

He played well (he likes to knock the blocking back into the ball carrier on the kickoffs) but hurt his knee in the first half so had a tough time in the second.  He wasn't walking too well yesterday - we'll hope it's just twisted or a sprain.  Kyle Schroeder really took a shot to the knee as well and was in a brace Sat. night. Don't want to lose him.  Lots of good sophs.

He was very conspicuous on kickoffs.  Looks like the speed is ok.   ;)

Hope the knee is feeling better.  Lots of ice.  No such thing
as too much ice the first few days.  (I'm a former trainer)

having had my share of knee injuries/surgeries in the past I can without a doubt say nothing can take the place of a combination of ice....(as long as the ice is in a glass with a large quantity of scotch) and a "few" narcotic pain killers (my personal favorite being the "yellow" one)  :)

cobbernation

Johnnie Faithful-
Besides blackmore who had a decent day running the ball on saturday, who will also carry some of the load at the RB position this season.  Did I read the stats right as to Weber not carrying the ball once?  However, he did do well receiving.  I thought he was a RB last year?!?

DuffMan

Cobbernation.  You're thinking of Cory Weber.  He graduated in 2006, I believe.  Brian Weber, the reciever, is his younger brother.

Mike Patnode should see a lot of carries (returns from last year), but he is supposed to have broken his hand last week in practice.  How long he will be sidelined is anyones guess.

So, how good is U.W. River Falls, anyway?

Big size advantage? Speed? Skill positions?
What can we expect against them?

Thanks!

For a more in-depth breakdown, DuffMan will be covering all of this shortly in his Week 2 Preview at www.johnniefootball.com.

When the Johnnies beat UW-RF 41-9 in Week 2 last year, the Falcons ran the ball 45 times (131 yards) and passed 13 times (59 yards) even though they were down by a double-digit margin from the middle of the 2nd quarter on.  For the entire season, UW-RF had a 75-25 run-pass split in scoring 13.1 points per game.

Fast forward to their opener this year against 2006 D3 Playoff team Hope--UW-RF passed 30 times (46% of plays), ran up 336 yards passing, and scored 54 points (roughly half of their season total from '06).  Obviously, they made some pretty big changes in the offseason, but who knows if it's because they are more talented or just wanted a different distribution of mediocrity.

Who knows what their defense looks like, but it should be interesting to see what kind of success UW-RF has on the offensive side of the ball.
