I found this interesting.  I know they do this all the time at the the D-1 level, but I guess I've never heard of it before at D-III.  Although, if you can make an extra couple G's, why not.

Cost for an adult on a per game basis is $6 for volleyball and women's hockey and $7 for football (with the exception of the St. John's game on Sept. 8, when the charge will be $8),

I'd like to hear an explanation for that.

Cha Ching!

With River Falls ranked 170th in attendance with a total attendance last year of 4311 (1,077 per game), I am guessing they are wanting to make some money when the opportunity presents itself. Assuming that the Johnnie fans arrive in mass, they may have more people at that one game than they did all of last year... :o

bennie,

you must have been awake in math class.  A very good analysis of that I would say.  Same reason until this year Iowa State always charged an extra 10-20 bucks for the home game when Iowa came to Ames.  This year there are no single tickets for the Iowa-Iowa State game.  The AD said if you want to see the Iowa-Iowa State game you had to buy a season ticket.  A way to limit the number of Iowa fans at the game.  Iowa State did sell a record number of season tickets this year but 35,000 in a 60,000 stadium (with hill side seats) I think it will be an empty place.  The AD's look for money any way they can.  Except in ST Johns spot when they are a sell out every game.

DI tickets are getting to be so expensive, gone are the days where your average fan could come with their whole family. Out here, pre-season games are $35 per ticket, regular season games are $47 and rivalry games are $60.  Heck, it is $22 for a standing room only ticket for the UO/OSU game!

Now to show off my math skills! ;)

If you take your family of four to the USC game, you will pay $240 for tickets, between $10 and $20 for parking near the stadium and probably another $30 in gas while you are virtually parked trying to get into/out of parking area before/after game. Last Saturday while driving around at 6 pm I encountered bumper to bumper football fan traffic trying to get onto the interstate...the game started at 12:30 (I am not sure when it ended)! :o Better feed those kids before you leave home! ;D

You couldn't order a day more perfect than Saturday in Collegeville.  Not a cloud in the sky, good friends, good tailgating, good bevies, and a thoroughly dominating performance by the Johnnies.  I've seen a lot of Johnnies' games over the years including many on the national playoff scene against really top notch competition and this just might be the MOST complete, dismantling I've seen.  Marietta kept their starters in the game well into the 4th qtr and the J's 3rd/4th/5th string was still moving the ball scoring with relative ease.  The future is bright in Collegeville.  Really liked the looks of kids like Hansel (QB), Boyle (QB), Schnobrich (RB), Luke (DT/DE), Eid (LB), and Gliadon (K).

A few observations:

1. Ran into Red Hot Bennie on the concourse before the game.  She was there with the bionic man and little Julio.  Everyone was in good spirits but I had to give her Sh!t about being a NO show at the Stiftungsfestivities.  Speaking of which, Where were you Frank?
2. Apologize for hardly ever answering my phone when people tried calling me.  Things get hectic at the tailgate and it is damn near impossible to hear the phone inside at the game.  I attempted to return phone calls ASAP once I realized people were trying to reach me.  Duffman, I believe Ritz left you a message from my phone???
3. The Alumni Association has decided to get involved with the Stiftungsfestivities.  They provided an 8 ft table, a Porta-potty (proper noun on purpose, and aimlessly close to precipitiously tumbling down the hill towards the Natural Bowl), and a large grill.  JJR and I talked to Troy from the Alumni Association just after arriving.  I tried to convince him that a Keg of Olde Johnnie Ale in the neighboring garbage can would be a welcome addition to the Stiffyfest.  He said we have to prove we are on our best behavior (to which I am thinking 5+ years and we are the best behaved group they could ask for, but I digress).  I am not sure what to think of their involvement.  OAS and Walter Sobchak woulda been disappointed because the Annex was locked.  Rent-a-Cop/Fat Slob Extraordinaire Chuck is still working in Cville.
4. Very nice to meet kcreds at the Stiftungsfestivities.  Best of luck to your son this season.  You represented the Marietta faithful well, thanks for making the trip.
5. Paris Hilton has been replaced.  Yes catch your breath Stiftungsfestivities' regulars.  The Honorable Judge has selected Nelly Furtado as the Music de Jour this season.  Buckle up it's gonna be a wild ride.

I'm working on it.  In exchange for a B-Day gift (today by the way, Happy Birthday to Me!) from my wife, I'm trying to get a pass for the day to the game.  I even offered to take my 6 year old daughter with.  So I guess if you really look at it, it's more of a gift to her than it is to me.

I won't be able to attend next week's game so if someone else wants to bring a grill and brats to help ease JR's workload I'm sure he would appreciate it.

Clark, I hope your son's knee is fine.

Go Johnnies!!!

I'll bring a grill and some brats.

Another typical, poorly managed game by Coach J has left me considering writing a letter to Brushaber and Bjorklund calling for him to be replaced.  I won't actually do it nor would it make any difference but how many times does he need to lose a game by making dumb calls like going for in on 4th on our own 39 yard line?  He is a good coach but I doubt he will ever get the team past first round playoff loses and very poorly managed games.

It seems to me that the team survives off of talent alone and is helped very little by coaching.  Very very few players come to the team and become BETTER players.  Almost every talented player I can think of has come in as a starter or started in their freshman year.

A win against SJU every four years shouldn't be enough to keep him around but I guess it is for some people.  In order for BU to go to the next level they really need a new coach.

Am I being to hard on him? Thoughts?
