smedindy-  You're picking a good weekend to make to Gustavus.  There should be plenty of people there for the opening of the new stadium and admission is free.  Here is the schedule of events for the day:

* An open house from 9 to 11 a.m. where attendees will be allowed on the field, in the stands, and in the press box.
* A dedication ceremony at 11 a.m.
* A family-friendly tailgating opportunity from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
* A 1 p.m. game versus Willamette University (no admission will be charged).
Heaven isn't too far away,
Closer to it every day

Freebird,

Good to see that you are active on the board again.  how is life treating you these days?  Always nice to see some controversy between BU posters.

Congrats to everyone on the 2000 mark!

Any predictions on the 3000 hit?

Controversy? What controversy?  :)

I'm doing pretty good, gearing up for a busy fall.  Things for me kick off Saturday as I head to San Francisco for my first game of the season.  Have you seen Maroon&Gold lately?

Still hanging around the board now and again. Good to hear that things are going well for you.

Alright Johnnie fans, here's your chance to tell me how great your team is(like I had to give them an invitation to do that). I realize that it was only one game, but where do you put this year's team in comparison to teams of yesteryear???
RB George Rogers, about the upcoming season:
"I want to rush for 1,000 or 1,500 yards, whichever comes first."

M&G,

How are the troops going to fare against Pelican Rapids this friday?  I say you fire that O-Line coach you have, you never can trust the expertise or lack there of a red head.  Just kidding.............but seriously.   Good luck.

Hey, everyone. I just relocated to the Cities from Indiana and am going to get my D-3 fix here. I've only missed one Wabash game since 1983 (well, it helps if you were the PA announcer and did the defensive stats, too) and due to work I only will be able to get back for a couple of games there.

Saturday, I'm going to try to make it to the Gustavus Adolphus game if my client review meeting lets out in time! Any Saturday I'm not traveling this year I hope to make it to a game somewhere close by.

Excited for St. Scholastica football in 2008?   I imagine you would know more about Greg than anyone in Minnesota.

For those who didn't know, the formerly all girls school in Duluth will play their first ever football game a year from now.  Greg Carlson, who was the head coach for 17 years at Wabash and most recently a defensive coach in the Arena football league has been hired to start the program and has been on the job for a few months now.

Not to pick a nit -- Mercy! I'd never do that -- yet I don't believe St. Scholastica was ever an "all-girls" school -- unless it happened to have a 9-12 grade academy. However, it just might have been, at some point, a women's-only college.

OK, now return to talking amongst yourselves ....

smedindy

Yes, I have seen MANY Greg Carlson teams in my day. He's a good coach and I think St. Scholastica is in good hands.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I think it will be interesting to compare and contrast game days at Wabash versus other D-3 schools up here. Of course, when I get out to games,  I'll have a close ear on the PA and will want to get a copy of the game stats just to be sure they're not inflating tackle numbers anywhere!

Just checked and I only have 3 packs of Redenbachers. Hope it isn't a tight game.  :-\

You might need to rethink this in the future.  Check this out.

Actually Pat, I'm a junior at Olaf who was forced into retirement because of a concussion I got during fall camp.  I figured since the "no current players" rule no longer applied to me that I'd start posting to inform the rest of the board that Olaf is going to take the MIAC title this year.

Oh, the optimisim of youth.   ;D

Don't ever lose it.

Reality bites:  Olaf is as likely to win the MIAC as the Vikings are to win the Superbowl.  8)

Don't know who will be giving us a close game but I guess I'll have to take my chances if it happens.  ;D

Skol Vikings!  The Vikes will run the ball and play D.  Smells like victory.  The same isn't true for Olaf.

Gotcha.

Yeah, the rule is put in by schools, not by us, so I would think you're set to go. :)

Welcome aboard. But I'm not sure sex charges are something to joke about publicly.
