WAHOO,

Bechdol played, I looked at the stats and was also very surprised to not see him in the box score. He had good pressure on the QB and didn't make any glaring mistakes, just no recorded tackles.

D O.C.

QuoteHe raises the price of tickets a buck only for today. Parking is usually $1, locals told me, but today it was $3. (And who charges for parking anyway at this level?)

That is thought provoking. You guys probably aren't sure whether to take pride in that kind of move or be insulted.

Heck, everything was free at Gustavus Adolphus yesterday! Well, except the program and the popcorn and soda. But still...the football was free! Can't beat that with a stick!

Smedindy,

You were witness to a new era of Gustie football, that was the reason for no charge.
Carleton, to my knowledge, never charges for admission.

You should plan a trip to Collegeville on Oct.6th  for Homecoming vs. the Oles or the hated Tommies on the 27th for Family Weekend. You will get the true Collegeville experience, visit the Stiftungfestivities and witness the Johnnie Nation. Perhaps with all the red & white it will remind you of Wabash ;D

BTW, how is your QB? I read yesterday he was hurt in the game.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Oct. 6? I should be here, so yeah. That will be a treat! I would love to hook up with some of the crowd up there!

Huff will miss at least three games from the info I have heard, maybe more. Fortunately, they're not three big games, but the ankle / leg he hurt was the same one he hurt in baseball his senior year of HS, and the reason he's a fifth year senior. He was on the hands team - and I have noticed him on the hands team every year he's been at Wabash. However, it could be a more serious thing, too.

That field at Gustavus was great. I'll be sure to return!

MIAC poll of the week:

Who wins next weekend?

Notre Dame or Michigan

Notre Dame.

I was able to take in the new GAC Stadium on Saturday.  It's quite excellent, with a TV in the concession area playing the game so you don't miss the action.  I have to say it's probably the best stadium in the conference, rivaled by SJU. The only downfall: Only 3 urinals and two stalls in the men's bathroom, which wont do well when there is 7,000 people there for this years GAC vs SJU game.  (GAC Homecoming)   May have to go frat-house style and pee in the sinks.  Not that I've ever done that.
I'd post a lot more if I had a real job

Amazing... SJU and GAC must have hired the same architect.... the women in attendance really have to pay as the line at times extends 40 feet.

Congrats on your opening!

Even this plan has a flaw, as the sinks are lining the wall where the door is located. Decency demands a left-hand hold, if you know what I mean.

GAC looked pretty solid yesterday against a sub-par opponent. Stolp threw for a lot of yards, but he was very inefficient. It took him 42 throws to pass for 296. He didn't have a pick, but he had about dozen that were either 5+ feet off target or passes Willy's defenders got their hands on. His two TDs to Chad Arlt were wide open and he missed a few others on what appeared to be the same play.

It'll be no secret that the way to stopping the Gusties is to double up on Arlt, though Williamette clearly didn't get that memo (15-221-2). RB Mitch Anderson ran very well in sneaking his way to 116 yards, but commitment to the ground game without ever playing a tight end or fullback could prove interesting.

On defense, GAC was victimized by big plays. The biggest were directed at/through CB Isaac Perry. I wasn't watching him real closely, but a recent DB grad said he "always has his eyes in the backfield." I suppose that would explain the unique 15-yard trail technique on a PA pass in the second half.

In summation, Tom Brown is Peyton Manning, the GAC-Will game made the MN/ATL game seem well-executed offensively and the new facilities are spectacular.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Fins - compared to all of your other game recaps this one was by far your best! ;)

Appreciate the props, fellas.

I'm all about football. ;)

I love the new stadium...the new offense is different, but I could grow to like it if they are playing well.

smedindy-  I kept an eye open for you, but I guess we didn't cross paths.  I was sitting beneath the scoreboard for most of the game.

Here are some pics from the game:

I was always opposite the scoreboard! I was impressed by that.
