Horan's Heroes

Hey all!!!

I'm new to this post forum and I'm anxious to talk football with all of you. This will definately prove to be an interesting MIAC season. Don't you agree??

Welcome maniac,
First things first you might want to think of a different screen name, the board already has a miac maniac.  Since he covers every sport in the miac and I am guessing you may not.  You might not be a miac maniac.

However, it's always good to see more support for our cobbers!

Don't forget about the poor people in the Iraq and South Africa too. It's not just US Americans who don't have maps such as.

Hey I was in Iraq and worked with south africans,   The Iraq has heard of New york an Texas but they don't know where they are.  But then again they cant point out places on their own map. The South Africans just dont give a crap

Alright Nation (a name i'm awfully fond of) I'll try this name out: A spin off of one of those old shows I was stuck watching since I didn't have cable growing up. I can definitely respect a name.

One more thing... did you know that a few years ago, a few members of Concordia's student body began attending every Cobber game decked out in maroon and gold who are called Cobber Nation? At first, I was wondering which one of my buddies you are but after reading your posts, it's clear that you aren't one of them. Love the name.

Soli Deo Gloria!

Wow, the Cobbers might be in 2nd place now for most PP supporters.  We should really do a roll call and have everyone state their allegiences.  Who wins--Johnnie fans or non-Johnnies fans?

LAB has already let the cat out of the bag, he will be our guest contributor this week at www.johnniefootball.com leading up to the Augsburg game.  His piece provides a ton of good stuff thanks to his unique perspective as a recent player--what it's like to play at Clemens from the far sidelines, some inside info on the holes Auggie has and what they'll do to fill them, and what gosh-durned good guys the Johnnie football players are.  Be sure the check in Friday morning for his perspective.

I'll start a little roll call!   Cobbers  baby ;D !

This weekends game should be fun.  I believe that Horan and the staff will have the gang ready to go.  I'm going to pick the Cobbers to defend the homefield and stay on the emotional high from the first two games.  I also believe that this is the game where Cory Johnson will lead the backfield with some big numbers.  He has really been held in check yardage wise over the last few weeks. Hopefully the air attack game stay crisp and the TO's low.  Cobbers 28 Roy-als (w/cheese) 21.

Although I'd love a close game, I think the margin could be greater than 7 points. The Royals QB has proven to be a problem to the cobs secondary because of his mobility and vision but without Porta to establish a good running game, I wouldn't expect a huge performance. I have confidence that the defense will hold them to less than 21. I haven't looked at the Royals defense closely enough to predict the cobs score but when all parts are working in the offense, there is no doubt that big numbers will be put on the board for the cobs.

In that small sampling, the non-Johhnie backers outnumbered the pro-Johnnie crowd 22-20.  This ignores kcreds, BlueDevil Bob, raiderguy, DutchFan2004, etc., who are Johnnie-wanna-be's.  We should check again at the end of the year to see how many Royal, Cobber, and Ole fans stick around.

And with that, another lunch hour wasted...

LAB, we usually have the Stiftungsfestivities going by 9:00 a.m. with the grills started by 10:30 a.m. We are located in the parking lot above the scoreboard end of the field. If you want to bring something, consider some shrimp and sauce for dipping. Everyone loves that.

I will be bringing along some pork patties from Ruck's meat market in Belle Plaine on Saturday. They have gone over well in the past.

The national alumni association board of directors will be joining us for the tailgate. That will be an additional 30 attendees. We will need more brats and buns, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The bandwagon still has a few open seats...I've heard TDT wants on desperately, but Willy won't let him on.

The thought of pink-clad TDT trying to jump on anything with a bunch of dudes is just sick and wrong.

However, I'm pretty sure he could help spruce up the bandwagon with goodies from his mom's plastic if we get desperate. How about we reevaluate this decision after Saturday, Frank?
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.
