Wow! Good thing your first game wasn't at Augsburg.

A friend of mine has a nephew playing at Millsaps College and this morning told me about their first game.  Millsaps was up 20-3 at halftime againt Mississippi College when early in the 3rd quarter Coach Dubose (former head coach at Alabama if you remember) took out his starters and played the 2nd and 3rd teamers the rest of the way - even as Mississippi College made a 3 touchdown comeback in the 4th quarter to win 27-26.  This has created a huge row over on the SCAC board that is worth reading (a number of Millsaps followers are defending/rationalizing the coach's decision).  http://www.d3sports.com/post/index.php?topic=4753.2805
According to my friend, the coach told the team he wanted to see everyone play so he could see who was going to make the traveling team.  Whatever the reason, it seems to have cost them a win.  Go figure. :-X

Looks like he can start ordering smaller buses. :D

Alright Nation (a name i'm awfully fond of) I'll try this name out: A spin off of one of those old shows I was stuck watching since I didn't have cable growing up. I can definitely respect a name.

One more thing... did you know that a few years ago, a few members of Concordia's student body began attending every Cobber game decked out in maroon and gold who are called Cobber Nation? At first, I was wondering which one of my buddies you are but after reading your posts, it's clear that you aren't one of them. Love the name.

Soli Deo Gloria!

HH,

Very clever name for one.  Yes, I do know that a group of people get decked out for home games.  I started posting as cobbernation just over 2 years ago and know a couple of the guys.  It's a great catch and works with any team.  Except bethel.

I will post a prediction score for the CC/BU game tomorrow.

And he probably doesn't have to worry about a fan traveling base either!

This is how it all started for me...

A father asked his 10-year old son, Fins, if he knew about the birds and the bees.
"I don't want to know," Fins said, bursting into tears. "Promise me you won't tell me."
Confused, Fins' father asked what was wrong.

Fins sobbed, "When I was six, I got the 'There's no Easter Bunny' speech.
At seven, I got the 'There's no Tooth Fairy'  speech.
When I was eight, you hit me with the 'There's no Santa' speech.
If you're going to tell me that grown-ups don't really get laid, I'll have nothing left to live for."

Also, thanks for the roll call BTW, that is interesting... we really need more Concordia support on PP

Not to mention disappointments later on in life ...

When Fins found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a woman to enjoy it with.

So, one evening he went to a singles bar where he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.  Her natural beauty took his breath away.

"I may look like just an ordinary man," he said as he walked up to her, but in just a week or two, my father will die, and I'll inherit 20 million dollars."

Impressed, the woman went home with him that evening and, three days later, she became his stepmother.

Oh, it's not like I didn't do any advance scouting! I wanted to see the best game close to my apartment at that was the best game. Then the stadium, especially the seating in the grass on the endzones, was the kicker.

I'm definitely heading to St. John's at some point, but this weekend I'll be back in Indiana mowing the grass and hugging my wife and kids. Hopefully soon they'll join me up here!

CobberHogg

It's good to see the Cobbs off to a good start this year so far.  Back on track, that's for sure and a team that I would not want to play when working on all cylinders.  As for this weekend, I can see the Cobbs defense holding steady with the way they have been playing so far.  They are a veteran group of guys, all who have played for over a year.  I see them holding Bethel to under 21, but it's always a tough game between the Cobbs and Royals.  As for the offense, when they are clicking (like they have been so far), they are one of the hardest teams to stop.  With a passing game, there is no telling what amount of points they could put up each game.  The O-line is top notch, and the back are ridiculous.  The quarterback situation is still a bit confusing, and I don't like the fact that he switches Nelson and Larson in as much as he does.  Although, it has seemed to be working, we'll see what Horan does this weekend.  He's a mastermind with things like that, so it's usually good to trust whatever he does.  As for my prediction, I can see the Cobbers taking the game 28-14.  Good luck to all MIAC teams this weekend...and let the fun begin.

I'd say the women's bicycle section of the K-Mart in Wayzata.

Wait, what? Mr.Shoes actually contributes to JohnnieFootball.com instead of merely building the site? You don't say...

Really, check it out. I didn't believe my eyes, either.  ::)
