Wonka--when are you and Anders getting to UST?

Frank--have you decided where you're going to be Saturday?
I'd post a lot more if I had a real job

I almost feel like Frank should be put on Momma TDT's "payroll" for all these gems he keeps finding while successfully avoiding work as a 27-year-old college grad. This had to have been up here within five minutes of ESPN posting the story. Consider Wonka impressed.

Mongo - No plans yet. When do you want to meet? Noonish maybe? Maybe we could even talk Harris into allowing us into the UST tailgate, which would give us a chance to compare the two most evil parties in the MIAC.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

It is way too soon to be discussing a game on October 6.  Lots of things can happen in 3 weeks of football.  Olaf has a good team with a lot of talent, but they have to take this one week at a time.  I know that is cliche, but if Olaf wants to have a good season then that is what it will take.  Focus on Hamline this week.  Give Penz some confidence, let the running game get moving a little better, and get the defense some more experience playing as a unit.

Anyone see St. Olaf winning in Collegeville this year?  Or too early to tell?  I think this will be their strongest team in the last three years?  They returned every all-miac player from last season.

Are those the same all-miac players from the teams that have lost 100-30 against SJU in the last two meetings...

Apparently you can vote every day so vote early and often - like Cook County

  Pat,

Yes there were a lot of freshmen in the lineup that day (at least 9) but one victory ('04) over the Johnnies in 4 years (including the smashing we took the year before the class of 2008 was on campus) is not enough to start spouting off about how good the Oles may or may not be. Hamline is next on the schedule followed by Augsburg and Gustavus...THEN it is St. Johns. Why don't all the Ole fans (including myself) concentrate on these 3 weeks to come before the Johnnies are mentioned.
Besides, not to sound negative towards the Oles, but the Johnnies are returning quite a formidable bunch in Kofoed, Salvato, Gunderson (all pre-season AA's and I know Gunderson and Salvato were last year too). When the game comes, I am hoping for a fun (and much closer) game then in the recent past. Until then lets try to steer clear of bringing up such events that are, in the scheme of college football, so far away.

Noonish would be good.  I'm also checking if a certain NCAA record holder of M. Diercks would be interested in going, and P. Severson.  They probably have to run it by the wives though.  If Frank doesn't come, we question his manhood.

You need me to bring an extra flask for you?  Maybe that's what it will take to get into the UST Tailgate.

Sucks to be a Portland Trailblazers fan right now--Oden out for the year.
West Virginia @ Maryland tonight.  I dont care about either team, but those Tuesdays and Wednesdays without pro or college football are brutal.

I count four offensive starters from that day still on the roster and one defensive starter. Not bad, actually.

Ok Ok I agree with the whole week by week thing if you're a player -- but we have the convenience of not being players anymore and can look ahead. There are not any Hamline supporters on this board to get riled up and its always exciting getting the Johnnie faithful going.

In the past 2 years, the Oles have not faired well against the Johnnies. Going into both games, I believe the Oles and Johnnies were undefeated. To be honest, leaving both those games I've been very frustrated with the lack of adjustments made by Olaf. After each game I felt we had equal talent in the backfields, but have been manhandled up front and been out scheemed.  One thing that is to note is that I think Olaf is the only program to have a class graduate going 2-2 against the Johnnies in the recent past. The class of 2005 (2004 senior season) beat Johnnies in 2001 and 2004 -- regardless of whether they played as freshman, I don't think there is another class that has gone 2-2 against the johnnies for a while. That has nothing to do with this year -- but its fun to talk about anyway.

As much as I've tried to wipe it from my memory, Bethel beat us in '99 and '00. Both were in Arden Hills, though, so STO's '01 win in Collegeville gives the Oles one up on the Royals.
Nice day, huh?
