Since we're talking Carlies...word on the street is junior WR Matt Frank may be out for the season with an injury. He was All-West Region last year and a preseason All-America Second Team pick after finishing second in the nation at 112 ypg in 2006.

If that's true, it's a huge blow to CAR's hopes of moving up the MIAC ladder. But Bethel should be breathing a little easier with his absence :-*
Now if we can only find out if there Off. Tackles can still throw the deep ball?  Didn't see that coming last year. :(

Tough break for Matt Frank and the Kinghts if that is the case.  I wish him a speedy recovery.

Good luck to everyone in the MIAC this week (except for the Cobbers, I guess)!!!

Word is Spreading about Matt Frank's injury.  I heard from someone at Carleton that Matt had set PRs in every metric during camp this year.  Then one day during camp went up over a DB and came down awkwardly and had to be airlifted to the hospital with internal bleading.  How quick things can change.  That's part of the game and the risk that every athlete takes when they step on the field.  I wish him and anyone else that has to go through injuries like this the best of luck.

That being said, Carleton is really going to struggle when they start playing the conference schedule.  They might surprise a few people, but I know they have high hopes for success.  Probably a year or two away from finishing between 3 and 5 in the conference.

Conference Prediction:

1.St. Johns
2.st. olaf
3. bethel
4. cobbers
5. gustavus
(talk about going out on a limb with that bold prediction)

By the way, is anyone else tired of hearing about how "awesome" Johnnies tailgating is?  I get it " The johnnies are the best at everything".

I am surprised nobody posted this yet...

Looks like a UST student was reading a little too much Crime and Punishment.  Raskolnikov is now in a bit of trouble...

Not to paint all Tommies with one broad brush, but it looks like nobody from Cretin Avenue is succeeding right now...  ;D

Silly johnnie_esq, Tommies don't read.

Shoes, did you actually mean Tommies don't read or Tommies can't read ???

Home vs. a bad Williamette team

I wouldn't say bad. After seeing Manchester, Hiram, Earlham, Oberlin, Kenyon (pre-2004), and some Denison squads, I know what bad is.

Any team that goes 2-7 is bad in my book and that's what Willamette finished at last year.

Well, there's 2-7 and then there's 2-7! Going 2-7 playing a WIAC schedule (or Willamette's) doesn't make you bad - just less decent than the other schools in the conference. Going 2-7 in the NCAC, though...you be bad.

(And I'm an NCAC fan...)

No, huh-uh. But thanks for stopping in to ask.
Frankly, after last Saturday's tailgating experience in River Falls, I'd rather be almost anyplace else.

It is a tough break for Matt Frank.  Best of luck to him.

Since I had a brother play there, I follow them a bit more and I know how much a part of the Carls he is.

For the rookie poster, well ... he seems well informed

Anyone see St. Olaf winning in Collegeville this year?  Or too early to tell?  I think this will be their strongest team in the last three years?  They returned every all-miac player from last season.

Is this the same all-MIAC team with 3 1st team QBs, 4 RBs, and like 5 WR's? That's 1 toop many on the field already and we don't even have any linemen yet!

Even Ray Charles can see St Olaf doesn't stand a chance of winning at SJU and you can take that to the bank. Hell, take it wherever you want for all I care.

I seem to recall a certain moderator clamoring in the not too distant past that SJU needed a fan site along the likes of MtUnionFootball.com

Well, I'm probably done posting or having internet access for the weekend for that matter. I'm counting on the regulars to ensure a victory this week against Auggie Tech.

If anyone needs me, I can be reached on a beach with a Corona in my hand from 5PM tomorrow (Pacific time) through 6PM Sunday... this time, with sunscreen on!!!

Will definitely make it to one game at St. Johns this year.  I'm not a St. John's football fan, but it's not really a football season if you don't get to watch at least one game a year at that stadium!  This year will be my 5th in a row.  Any suggestions on which game to make it to if you have to pick just one?
