I seem to recall a certain moderator clamoring in the not too distant past that SJU needed a fan site along the likes of MtUnionFootball.com

Indeed. That site's been around for years and hasn't been promo'ed as much as johnniefootball.com has in three weeks. :)

By the way, is anyone else tired of hearing about how "awesome" Johnnies tailgating is?  I get it " The johnnies are the best at everything".

I promise I hate SJU more than you. However, I also promise that the Johnnies put on the best tailgate in the MIAC.

This is coming from a die-hard Gustie fan who has been welcomed into nearly a dozen of JR's stiffyfests as an avid Johnnie-hater and then gone on to cheer against Gags and his crew a few hours later. I'm sure Frank Rickard, another Gustie, is more than willing to back up my sentiment.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

When I try to access <johnniefootball.com> I get the message "The application Safari quit unexpectedly." Is the problem with my computer or with the website? It had been working perfectly until yesterday. Anyone have any suggestions? I hate to be missing all of the good content on that site

Does TDT have a secret alter ego? Can we get the Johnnie Dream Team on this case?

OOT: You might try emailing mr.shoes@johnniefootball.com for further assistance...

Closed Circuit to all my Johnnie buddies: Don't take the bait from Wonka.  We know a good thing and don't need reassurance from a Gustie troublemaker.  He is panhandling for +Karma, might I suggest sending him in the opposite direction...

Kilted: That place doesn't exist.  I just did a Google search.  Update: No correct answers yet.  Make sure to get your guess in before 2pm EST finsleft!!

Guess who!  The youngest member of the stiftungsfestivities, not even old enough to drink but that doesn't matter.  I get high on life.  Looking forward to another Johnnie win on saturday!

Willie??  Say it ain't so.  This place has lots of "adult" chatter.  BTW: You selected a poor moniker.  The original Freebird is a Bethel student/grad.  Enough said.   8)  8)

Wow, busy day on the board.  Where to begin?  How about... here:

Wait -- you have a Web site? Hadn't heard! :)

Yeah, you can find us at www.johnniefootball.com.  One of our unwritten goals--though it was openly discussed on multiple occasions--in starting the site was getting recently graduated former MIAC players to take thinly veiled shots at Bethel's football program.  I'm proud to say we've acheived our goal only 3 weeks into the year--and before the first MIAC game!  Check out www.johnniefootball.com to see what Lone Auggie Backer had to say about the dirty, dirty Royals!

Are those the same all-miac players from the teams that have lost 100-30 against SJU in the last two meetings...

Nicely played, freebird.  Do we need to make room for you on the bandwagon?

  • ne victory...in 4 years...is not enough to start spouting off about how good the Oles may or may not be. Hamline is next on the schedule followed by Augsburg and Gustavus...THEN it is St. Johns. Why don't all the Ole fans (including myself) concentrate on these 3 weeks to come before the Johnnies are mentioned.
Besides, not to sound negative towards the Oles, but the Johnnies are returning quite a formidable bunch in Kofoed, Salvato, Gunderson.
Wow, rabid and rational.   I just hope all you new Ole fans stick around after the inevitable trouncing at Clemens Stadium...

In all seriousness, I like the looks of this Ole team.  I hope that they make the playoffs and take after the Cobbers rather than Bethel, if you know what I mean.  With 3 or 4 teams shaping up as potential contenders (pending this weekend's BU/CC tilt and assuming UST and GAC don't take a huge step forward), I just hope the conference winner goes undefeated and the runner-up only has one loss.  That would set the West Region up nicely for MIAC playoff domination.

Northwestern who was beat by Augsburg in the cage in a very close game should definitely be in the top four of the miac

Ugh, we have this same argument every year and you always lose.  How about Northwestern worries about going a whole game without having the sprinklers go off before they concern themselves with MIAC domination?

At the beginning of the season, even though St. Johns brings back some great players, they do not return the most.

St. John's has more All-MIAC players on the bench each week than half the conference has in their starting lineups combined.  How long will it take people to realize that St. John's graduates a bunch of studs every year, and every year they get a whole new batch in?

I think it's a pretty engaging discussion.  On one hand, I really feel what the "Super Awesome" camp has to say.  Then again, the "Unbelievably Awesome" crowd makes some good arguments, too.  I'm on the fence but I'm willing to keep listening.

Anyone see St. Olaf winning in Collegeville this year?  Or too early to tell?  I think this will be their strongest team in the last three years?  They returned every all-miac player from last season.

Is this the same all-MIAC team with 3 1st team QBs, 4 RBs, and like 5 WR's? That's 1 toop many on the field already and we don't even have any linemen yet!

What's so strange about that?  Olaf hasn't started real defensive players in years...

TC--time to take out the sarcasm detector----I was making a potshot at Cobber fans for proclaiming the greatness of the team before playing any MIAC games, when last season they were beat by St. Thomas and Gustavus while barely coming up with the win against Augsburg in OT.  I would make the argument again this year, but my guys aren't giving me too much to go on.  I'd like to see a Gustavus or St. Thomas on the schedule in the next couple years---preferably Bethel really, but we'll wait and see.

Speaking of potshots and your johnniefan site, Duff just couldn't get through a preview of Augsburg without calling Northwestern a traditional cupcake.--glad to see the high class posting on the boards has transferred over to the new site.

on the other hand, cupcakes are crazy delicious.

Dude, you REALLY need to experience the festivities.  Because when you do, you will realize that all the talk about how great it is doesn't even do it justice.  I've been all over the country and never had a better burger, everybody chips in other side dishes and beverages, and the company/cameraderie is great.  Of all the people who wouldn't be welcome there (a Bethel guy who took great joy in beating SJU twice), I was always made to feel at home and have many friends there.  Contrary to what we were lead to believe at BU ;) :D, the SJU faithful are good people and fantastic football fans who just happen to support one of the finest programs college football at any level has.  Don't judge 'em 'til you've had a burger with 'em.

Best of luck and safe travels to all the teams and their fans this weekend!  Gunga galunga!

Unlike red vines and Mr. Pibb, going to bed at 4:30 and waking up at 7:00 is not a good combination.

Tailgaiting at St. Johns is a scrumtrulescent time, they even let outsiders in, even though I think I've been banned for missing out for lame reasons.
