By the way, is anyone else tired of hearing about how "awesome" Johnnies tailgating is?  I get it " The johnnies are the best at everything".
Dude, you REALLY need to experience the festivities.  Because when you do, you will realize that all the talk about how great it is doesn't even do it justice.  I've been all over the country and never had a better burger, everybody chips in other side dishes and beverages, and the company/cameraderie is great.  Of all the people who wouldn't be welcome there (a Bethel guy who took great joy in beating SJU twice), I was always made to feel at home and have many friends there.  Contrary to what we were lead to believe at BU ;) :D, the SJU faithful are good people and fantastic football fans who just happen to support one of the finest programs college football at any level has.  Don't judge 'em 'til you've had a burger with 'em.

Best of luck and safe travels to all the teams and their fans this weekend!  Gunga galunga!

Now, this Bethel guy has figured it out.  This, in my opinion is a great post considering the Johnnie/Bethel relationship.  I, too, got to experience the "Tailgate experience" as an outsider and was made to feel very welcome and this Johnnie group of crazy guys is really something.

FYI- Stoutguy was the one who chased away the parking lot guy wanting the $3.00 to park the picnic table.  :D

Well, now that we have the fantasy picks out of the way, what does everyone think the real scores will be come Saturday. I will venture 42-7 SJU win and 24-21 Bethel Win-as much as it pains me to do so.
The Stifty is awesome-even if I only get there once a year and at UWW. :'(
BTW-that picture of TDT, getting ready to meet with Fins for the ST. Paddy's day celebration on the tall ship. Not sure how the look went over for landing an overnight guest of the female persuasion.

I'm not sure what CC did two or three years ago matters at this point. But, based on last season's clear-cut stats, CC is clearly head and shoulders above the Gusties despite having no starting QB, being gifted their opener by a retarded coach and then pounding some team from Dickinson State ::)

Indeed the Cobbers are using a 2 QB tandem, only because the first week nelson had some leg cramps and in the 2nd week I am not sure why larson was in the game.  However, it has led to one victory and yes one win that was a thanks to Damon Tomeo who is pretty much dumb for passing on 4 straight downs.

In agreement it doesn't matter that CC came back to win a thriller in 2004, but then drop 2 last quarter losses to SJU.  It's in the past...looking to the future now.  Dickinson State has to have lost some key players especially after winning their conference from 2002-2005.  Sounds like modern day Twins.  Winning some division titles, then dropping off the radar in the standings.

One last point about Dickinson state is the previous week before getting beat by CC 41-7, they lost 18-10 to the #7 team in the country in NAIA standings.  I am not sure how good NAIA teams are compared to D-III, but they do give scholarships.

During the West Virginia/Maryland game last night, the announcers said that WV's fullback, Owen Schmitt, played a year at UW RiverFalls before transfering to WV, walking on, and eventually getting the starting spot.  He had a few impressive runs, and it was said that he'd make some pro teams happy.

I still think the only good thing to come out of Wisconsin is beer and cheese.

Wonka--heard that Diercks and wife are coming to UST on saturday.
I'd post a lot more if I had a real job

CC Backer

Well Saturday is approaching fast and like the rest of MIAC I'm excited for the opener.  I think this could be a very competitive year in the MIAC, and although it is still early there is a hand full of teams that could give SJU a run for the conf. title.  This week's game in Moorhead should be a fun one, the last two meeting between the Royals and Cobbers in Moorhead have been split.  It is Family weekend at Concordia so the crowd should be a good one, anyone in the area looking for a great college football atomosphere should head to "The Jake" for a 1pm kickoff!!  Good luck to the Cobbers!! Kee those W's coming.

Mongo: Is it possible he is of some relation to Pete Schmitt of UWW fame and the Washington Redskins camp this year?  BlueDevil Bob, StoutGuy, Flash, FredFalcon: please advise at your earliest opportunity
