Hey Duff, do they still have the shooting range in the basement of Rat Hall?

Cool -- what's it called? I'll find it on the campus map and do a self-guided thing sometime.

I'm assuming it's not actually called Rat Hall. :)

Check my updated response.  I put in a link for you.  And it's called the Old Gym or Guild Hall, but it is frequently called Rat Hall, as well.

Hell, I lived in basement rat for a whole year... right next to the girls locker room.   8)

Just had a chance to read Keith's "Around the Nation." A few observations.

1. Best article I've read on D3 in a while, both on the scheduling and Linfield in general.

2. I'm suprised the SJU/Cobb game wasn't a "game to watch" after the last 2 years.

I love Rat Hall-- it is an institution unto itself.  It is one of the most versatile buildings ever-- its history consists of:

- being moved 150 feet
- widened by over 50 feet
- a gymnasium
- a dormitory
- a Post Office
- ROTC offices
- The Record offices
- On-campus interview offices
- a shooting gallery

And most of that was in the past 30-40 years.  I love the old turret style building-- and it will forever be Rat Hall.

Below is a postcard picture of it before they moved and widened it (notice Joe Hall in the background, also later moved, and Engel Hall (now Simmons Hall) next to it-- they just moved the name on that).   I saw pictures once as to how they moved it-- on rails, if I remember correctly.  I wonder if I can still find those.

Joe Hall used to be where Sexton Commons is now, correct?

Interesting fact in the Around the Nation article was that the MIAC's overall record so far this year is 16-4.  That's pretty good to start out but as we continue into the MIAC season I am not sure how many unbeaten's will remain.

If someone asked me where Guild Hall was I would have no idea.

Rat Hall now and forever.

Good memories.

I lived next to Rat Hall senior year - can't remember name of residence building...Greg House I think - so I was literally about 10 steps from the gym. Spent pretty much every night in there playing pickup ball. Always thought it was a great shooting gym.

My uncle played ball at Hamline in the early 70s. I guess they used to have a scoreboard that was obstructed so the Hamline bench couldn't really see it. St. John's was leading, and he heard the Hamline coach ask a ref what the score was, and the ref responded with, "We're up seven, coach." At least he wasn't a homer...

You are correct, sir.

Joe Hall was the one co-ed dorm on campus. :-X

Cobbernation-

We're 16-4 if you remove St. Thomas.  Those Tomcats are a putrid 0-3 having trailed 21-rip in all three games!

Frank or Wonka--Either of you going to the GAC game this weekend?  I'm missing it due to a wedding.  I still don't understand why people get married during football season. At least on Saturdays during football season.  Priorities people!
I'd post a lot more if I had a real job

Well i just made it official, i'll be in Collegeville on saturday for the game.  If history tells us anything it should be a good one.  I'm also planning on attending the pregame festivities with Cobbernation and M&G, I've heard nothing but good things about it, so i'm very excited!!
