Dear Johnnie, (Karl, Tommy, Olie or whoever) I am here at work busting my tail so you can do normal things really well.  Your mother and I are not investing $13k a semester for you to take one off just to sing in the choir for another Christmas.  Instead how about graduating early?  Your mom and I can take a trip to Alaska, I here they have cold ice cream up there.  

I love MIAC football as much as anyone, but D3 activities = very few professionals.

I went to college the same number of terms that everyone else at my school did (just took one off in order to take it in the fall instead), so it did not cost any extra money.  I have the same amount of student loans that I would have if I were to have not taken a medical redshirt.  But that being said it's not for everybody, I paid for most of my education myself through financial aid / student loans, so I didn't have the dilemma of having someone else footing the bill.

With the attention paid to Choir at St. Olaf, including scholarships, TV broadcasts, articles, etc. you would think there was an AP poll for Choir. Not a point of pride for this alum.
