TDT-you know the reason for Friday football originally?? So that the farm boys would be able to work the farm on Saturday-thus lots of Friday games in Wisconsin, Minny and Iowa.

When I was a youngster, the Catholic schools played on SUNDAY afternoon usually.

How come they play high school games on Saturday's in California?  That seem strange, because I believe almost everywhere else in the country people play Friday nights.

No lighted fields.  Testy neighbors.

That happens in Illinois with the Chicago Cathlic League-a few games a year. 20 years ago we played two or three on Sunday.

Meanwhile I've got the TV on in the background here and Syracuse - who is pathetic and probably worse than the Gophers - is destroying Louisville in Louisville 38-21 in the fourth.

It's the same throughout the Bay Area unfortunately.  Serra High School in San Mateo (Barry Bond's alma mater) put in lights but the neighbors put up such a stink that they can only have one night game per year.  It reminds me of the problems we had putting a child care center into a church in Berkeley back in the 70s.  UC students came to complain that children playing outside during the day would disturb them because they stayed up all night studying (sure ) and needed to sleep all day (now when did they go to class?  ).  The CA motto: "I've got mine - you get your own - if you can and it doesn't inconvenience me."
