Fins,

That description of open a can of Hamms.  Are you sure you didn't go to seminary some where?  That was almost as good a sermon as I have heard.  If not seminary then you must have run for office some where or should.  Words spoken like that you should be mayor some where.

Dutch, what you say here is very true.

finsleft's ability to speak about Hamm's in such a moving fashion comes from:

A) Knowledge of the subject matter.

B) Passion for what he is speaking about.

C) God given skill to so eloquently use the English language.

As far as being in public office, since we have a GodFather in JR and a President in TDT, I nominate finsleft for Mayor of MIACPP.  8)

Trying to give Mrs. BDB something to do?  Or are you angling for a key to the city?  ::)

JR-  Are we on for the south end of the field then for 10am Saturday?  Do we need anything...brats, buns?

Thank you for those kind words. Let me say that, if nominated, I will run, and if elected, I will serve.

Yes, Mrs. BDB and I go way back, and her efforts got me very close to achieving my dream of saving the world.  ;) I am forever indebted.

Speaking of politics, I just had the pleasure of having a cup of coffee and visit with my old friend, mentor, boss and Johnnie, former Congressman Rick Nolan. I cut my teeth in college working on his campaigns and spent some great days working on the hill in DC for him. That's where I learned to sail, first in a small O'day on the Potomac, then we up-sized to a 23 footer and moved out to the big water on the Chesapeake. Fun times!  :)

Has anyone read Keith's Around the Nation rankings of the conferences? I thought it would engender some heated discussion. For example, one of the reasons the MIAC is rated as low as it is, is that they are 2 - 2 against the IIAC, which is rated lower, but both have excellent non-conference records. I realize this is more of an art than a science, but when you look at non-conference records, the arguments that follow - don't seem to follow.

The MIAC is much better than 9th. To me, the WIAC and OAC are the only 2 conferences that are clearly superior than any other. Over the past 5 to 7 years I've seen a few NWC games and besides Linfied and the one great year that PLU had, the NWC from top to bottom is not as good as the MIAC. I don't know much about the east coast conferences, so I guess I have a hard time measuring them. I agree its hard to rank conferences, but I would guess that the top 4 to 5 teams in the MIAC (Olaf, SJU, BU, Cord, GAC) [we'll see how good GAC and Olaf are this weekend], would finish in the top half of all the conferences ranked between 3 and 9. I agree that from year to year the MIAC can be pretty weak in the middle, with only 2 superior teams; however, from some of the scores I've seen in other conferences and the domination by some teams in there conferences, its hard to argue that other conferences don't have the same problem. Personally, I'm a fan of the MIAC and think it has the best atmostphere of any D3 conference which can lead to better programs. Keith and Pat see as many D3 games as anyone so they probably know best, but maybe there is a little of the classic "east coast bias" going on.

Here we go with a change for the Stiftungsfestivities for Saturday. The tailgate party will be located at Sechlar Park. Directions are as follows:

Coming North on Hwy 3 - take a left on Hester Street in Dundas. Take Hester Street across the river to Dundas Blvd (Cty Rd 78). Take a right on Dundas Blvd. Travel this road for approximately one mile to Sechlar Park Road, which is on the right. This road will take you to the park pavilion.

Coming East on Hwy 19. Take a right on Armstrong Road, which is just past the St. Olaf campus. Travel this road for approximately a half mile to Sechlar Park, which is on the left. This road will take you to the park pavilion.

We will be joining a tailgate party put on by the Owatonna alums. Starting time will be 10:00 a.m. As always, Oles, Knights and especially Gusties are cordially invited to join us for the Stiftungsfestivities. Frankrickard, bring along some brats and buns for the tailgate. That would be much appreciated. Be there or be square. ;)

I suppose another question to ask is how may Oles went to Dundas to get inebriated when they were at St. Olaf?

The L&M in Dundas WAS a fine establishment. I had a many a night of walking back to Olaf from Dundas, its feels like a much shorter walk when you've had a few.

East Coast Bias? Not with the WIAC, ASC, and NWC up there.

What hurts the MIAC is Hamline (161st in MOV Massey last season), Augsburg (169th in MOV Massey), Carleton (102nd in MOV Massey) and the up and down of St. Thomas and Concordia - Moorhead.

In 2006, the MIAC was ranked #9 in Massey as well.

Take it from an NCAC fan, top heavy is no way to be. The MIAC needs to have everyone step up.

Everyone else just doesn't understand the MIAC.  The thing is we beat each other up so much during the conference schedule.  We are the best bar none.  We don't always do great in the playoffs(bethel) because the regular season is SO tough.  Plus we have 400 pound linemen and rodents as running backs.

Oh wait...thats the WIAC...

I could care less how strong the MIAC is.  Last I heard there's no walnut & bronze handed out to the toughest conference. :o

Sounds like a plan.  I'll hit up Schmidt's Meat Market in fantastic Nicollet, MN to pick up some brats.  Any idea if aloholic beverages are allowed in the park?  Willy needs to know.

This is quite true. But the WIAC has to talk about SOMETHING, right?

Halftime
SJU 21- CAR10
end of 3rd

I believe that is incorrect.  You were 1-3 against the IIAC this year.  UST 0-2 Central and Loras  Bethel 1-1  Lost to Buena Vista 1-2 and beat a 1-3 Simpson team.  I think that has to say something.  A contender and former MIAC champ has a loss to BV.
