I am going to go with 2TD as my mark.  I have not seen SJU a lot, but I get the sense that especially at home they like to jump on you quickly.  After the quick burst they can start to put in new players while the other team loses energy.

My main point is that if you look at the past 2 SJU/Olaf games then you would know things were decided pretty early.  If Olaf gets a good lead or can hang around late then they have a shot.  The most important thing for either school is to keep the game close and win out.  I think a 1 MIAC loss team goes to the second season.

Mr. Shoes,

Check your dates.... Mount Union was 01 (didn't play them in 02)

I would also add Trinity in 02 with the huge second half comeback.

As for the Carleton game...don't underestimate the internal knowledge that Ramler has of SJU.....one of the best QBs ever, coached with us back in 02....and he is a great coach and will be for years to come.

That is also possible, since SJU has shown a problem overcoming big deficits.

It seems that an undefeated Ole team had some trouble overcoming a "big deficit" a couple years ago...

Don't forget, that was a COME-FROM-BEHIND 63-9 win as the Oles held a 3-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.  The 3 point deficit was the 2nd largest the Johnnies would face in the 2005 regular season (10-0 3rd Qtr. deficit to Concordia).  It's pretty hard to be known for your big comebacks when you never have to overcome a big deficit.

Whoops, thanks 'tooth. I couldn't remember which mind-numbingly long road trip was which (yes, I drove to both Alliance and San Antonio).

As for Trinity, while it was a big deficit, I'd hardly say we had trouble overcoming it. Yes, we lost, but we did tie up that contest before the questionable roughing the passer call kept their last drive alive. That said, "SJU has shown a problem overcoming big deficits." is a conclusion I have a hard time drawing.
Nice day, huh?

Heh heh heh...that game went from making me exceptionally nervous to no sweat in a hurry.

Piperinsider,  who should we be looking for to make big plays for hamline?

A quick look at Hamline's site:
"In the second quarter, first-year Mark Masso (Farmington, Minn.) brought the Pipers their first rushing touchdown in two games when his 10-yard run."
"Seymour had 131 yards on seven receptions in the game. Schmigel tallied 156 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions on 9-for-21 passing in the game."

No running game, interception-prone QB...sounds like a bloodbath.

I knew guys that started for Trinity in that game.  Most of them weren't even primary options in high school.  Hmm...

What's that mean?  That Trinity team was very good.  They were hurt big time, though, at the loss of Hampton for the Stagg Bowl.  Their o-line was one of the best I ever played against.

Obviously he's trying to say that:  St. Olaf < St. John's < Trinity < Texas high schools.  I don't know why he's making the argument, either, but Mount Union better not take Odessa Permian lightly come playoff time...

Yes, and Chris Richard was a backup at Florida.  He's going to make millions in the NBA.

Duff- Better than Albany and Alex in '98? ;)
I like to picture my Jesus singing lead vocals for Lynard Skynard with like a band of Angels behind him, and I'm in the front row HAMMERED drunk!!!

Right, and I'm sure every member of Olaf's Florida pipeline was the primary option at his respective H.S  ::)

I think the matchup I am most excited for is one that will get no press. Tolen vs. Salvato. Both these guys are huge and very good. Salvato has the experience but I have yet to see anyone who can block Tolen. Other matchups may be prettier but there will be no bigger slug-fest than between these two.

My ankle was in a cast for that Alex game, and I was stuck on the offensive side of the ball versus Albany due to my ankle :P

What were you, 11 or 12 back then?  :D ;)
