What a ballgame.  Congrats, Rockies.
Great job by Holliday of not making a second effort to touch home- ump was waiting for him to make a move.

Well, if the primary options went to Texas or Oklahoma, then I bet the secondary options who went to Trinity were pretty darn nifty. Unless we're talking about Trinity Bible - and then I could probably make their offensive line. Right now. At age 41. With no practice. Praise the Lord.
Contrary to popular belief, the lions average about 265 on the O-line and 220 on the D-line.

A group of Trinity Sophmores---Pick 11 random Johnnie Sophs and wonder out loud who might win.

11 random on campus? Well, I think any random sampling of 11 college sophomores will get a supply of sportos, motorheads, geeks, sluts, buds, wasteoids, dweebies and ***heads, and the odd righteous dude. Doesn't mean that 11 are football players, though.

Besides, size don't mean nuttin'. Someone could weight 265 and need to stay away from the buffet. In the NCAC, I've seen a lot of large linemen that were pillowy soft.

I never stated that we were a better school than Carleton. The rankings prove that they are. As you can see here by the top schools in Minnesota, as rated by The Princeton Review.
http://www.princetonreview.com/college/research/regional/regional_results.asp?state=MN&region=MW

I started all of this due to a negative comment about our school. I returned the favor, I did not think this would spiral out of control like this. And while you can say that the statement I made can be a precursor to an alibi after a loss you could also say there is such an uproar because of some truth in it.

All I'm saying is if you want an inflated GPA, go to SJU. If you want a REAL education, go to St. Olaf.

Says the Ole to the Johnnie Doctor as commented on by the Johnnie Lawyer.

Out of curiosity, what do the Carls think of their neighbors to the north then?

I'm envisioning chadbrochillseventeen sitting in his parent's basement trying to think up a more impressive job than doctor or lawyer as he realizes that Computer Gaming Sales Representative at Best buy isn't quite it.

"Mom, what's a better job than doctor or lawyer?"
"Astronaut?"
"Awesome, I am an astronaut."

And another thing KiltedRat. Say I were a Computer Gaming Sales Rep at Best Buy (which I'm not by the way, I'm still a student) would that make you a better person than me since you are a doctor? Or you Johnnie_esq, since you are a lawyer? Maybe you should think before you bash other people's professions just because they may not be as 'socially outstanding' as your own. I may have made a comment that was outlandish, yes, but I certainly did not belittle someone else's livelihood.

Mr. Broccoli,

Does going to a better school make one a better person?

I had no idea a college degree was required to be a Computer Gaming Sales Rep at Best Buy.
So, what do you do at Best Buy?

Hey, I got fired today.  Do you think you could hook me up at Best Buy?  I have my degree,
so I could do that Computer Gaming Sales Rep gig.  I'm sure Frank Rickard and Willy Wonka
would be willing to bring me up to speed on the current state of the art in gaming.  I was really
good at Pac Man back in the day.

I had a Math professor who worked at SJU after St. Olaf, and he had some great comments about the SJU students.  He was astonished at how bad most of the students were at SJU.  He would assign problems that he knew most students would never get correct, but he always noticed that the SJU students gave up almost immediately.  He joked that the reason he could not teach Calculus is due to the fact that it was at too high of a level for the students.  I laughed so hard at hearing his horror stories about getting various students to work at SJU.  As soon as he got the chance to leave he packed his bags immediately.

I also have friends who knew plenty of Johnnies.  They would often testify that SJU was the only school that would take them due to their severe lack of academic ability.

I am not saying that all students at SJU and CSB are horrible students, but having talked with people familiar to the school I think most people would argue that St. Olaf is a better school academically.  I will admit to knowing a few students from SJU that have shown to be amazing students.  I will also argue that SJU is trying to improve its academics.  St. John's partially suffers from a reputation as 'jock school,' and that will hold them back.  There are other schools in the MIAC that suffer from the athletic reputation.

Also on Augsburg it is important to note some of the goals of that school.  Augsburg offers programs for working adults and strives to serve the inner city.

I'll bet you won the election unanimously.

What are you talking about?

Ritzy,

Which was higher?  Your golf score at Izaty's or the # of beers you put down.

Sidenote: TDT is wondering.  How many of you Oles are making the trip to Cville on Sat morning?  The banter appears to have been hot and heavy today already reminiscent of the old days between the Johnnies and the Tommies (Jake Barkley, Andrew Hilliard, Joe Moline, all posted back in the day).  Will you be accepting Judge Johnnie Red's invitation for the Stiftungsfestivities?

There's a lot of bad students at every school. I met a lot of dumb people at St. John's. I'm sure there's a lot of bad students at St. Olaf. Since moving to New York City, I've met a lot of people who went to Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc. A lot of them are really dumb too. I know a Columbia professor, who has told me stories about how bad some of his English class students are. Which obviously means St. Olaf is superior to Columbia (perhaps on the football field, they are).

My wife works with a family whose kids go to one of the elite private schools in the city. One of the kids had to write a 20-page paper on the French Revolution...in the third grade. Their academic standards are probably higher than St. Olaf's. Who cares? You can get a great education at any college (the best journalism teacher I ever had was at a community college), and it's the overall experience that you'll remember. All I know is, when St. John's wins this week, it proves it's the better school and the people there are superior    ::)
