After the first kick-off I would suspect all the guys that will be seeing the field have blanked out the crowd factor.

That's the first thing you've said that made sense :D

I hate to agree with Oles, but I never noticed a crowd at all while the game was going on.  When you're in a zone, you don't hear much.

Your quite right Duff,  you might hear the crowd coming out of the locker room but after the first couple of hits I never even heard the crowd.  I would have to say that weather is more of a factor that any crowd.

If the Oles play hard, and smart this Saturday, I really think that they can walk out of Collegeville with a W.

Or not.

I think there's been way too much conversation about the game and not enough about the tailgating before the game.  Who's bringing what? ??? ;D

Oh, and by the way, all you Oles are welcome to attend services up at the Abbey after the game.  You'll hardly be able to tell the difference, unless you're ELCA

Not being a MIAC geography major... How far away is STO from SJU and how well do their fans travel. I doubt any of that will matter but I was just curious.

Dear Ole faithful,

All I have heard you folks talk about is how much faster your team is, especially the wide outs.  I don't understand why these rollie oles will be faster than last years rollie oles.

This game will come down to execution and SJU will win

I haven't a clue how well they travel, but I suspect we'll see quite a few in Collegeville on Saturday. As for how far, here you go:

Great observation Freebird.

A Bethel poster extending the olive branch to SJU :)

That's worth a +K  ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Quick question, has anyone noticed that these STO posters never seem to start until later in the morning?  I have been wondering if they all attend the same early morning choir practice as they all seem to be on the same sheet of music, singing the same old song.  The tone is rather drab and monotonous though.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

They must not have class until later.  Ah, the college life :)

In terms of the Stiftungsfestivities, as always, we will have the best burgers in the world along with pork patties, the latter from Ruck's meat market in Belle Plaine. Wonderful koolaid courtesy of Finsleft, brats from Veek and jello shots from Raiderguy. Bring a culinary delight to share. We will be setting up in the parking lot above the scoreboard end of the field around 9:00 a.m. Oles are certainly welcome to join us.

Sad story about the runner from Glencoe who was attending Minnesota State Mankato and got run over on Tuesday in Mankato while out for a run and died. Our prayers are with her and her family.

Kubiak,
Long time no "see."  You're not part of Blackwater, are you?  ;D
I won't say my beliefs on the situation for fear of starting a massive political debate, but I'm pretty sure you and I would be on the same side :) I had the privilege of talking to dozens of Marines over the past month who had just gotten back from Iraq. Based on what they told me, the private security sector has one of the toughest jobs around and the get scrutinized the most as well.

Well, it's official. The Cubs are gonna win the Series, TDT is going to go on a date with a girl, and hell has frozen over; I actually agree with Freebird for the first time and gave him +k. The apocalypse is upon us! ;D
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

Well its Homecoming this Saturday at Concordia and nobody brings back alumni like the Cobbers.  I expect a great crowd for the game and a W for the maroon and gold.  Its nice that we're playing Hamline this year for homecoming instead of the Oles like last season.  Losing a HC game is bad enough but losing it big and to STO and coach Miedt is like getting kicked when you're down.  Good luck to the Cobbers.

Also this week's match up between STO and SJU isn't going to be as good of a game as STO faithful would hope.  I see the Johnnies executing well and winning big!!

Well, I assume that a lot of the crowd I saw at the St. John's - Concordia game were SJU alums.

Oh, and Wabash had 5,242 for its homecoming this past Saturday. And it was against Earlham, who usually brings a massive crowd of 100 or so.

Anyway, good luck to all teams, and have a great tailgate Johnnies!

That rumor Fins started seems to have had the desired effect. ;)

We'll be stopping at Westside on our way from the airport - any special requests?  I usually pick up some Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada and last time picked up some Smithwick's, but I'm open to requests. 8)

bennie - If I may be so bold as to offer you some advice on making best use of your "Package" Pick out maybe two games you really want to see and use the back button to flip back and forth. Since the games usually have a staggered start, you can catch quite a bit when they start 1/2 hour apart. Between periods of one game, you can catch a good deal of the other. If you try to get too ambitious, and catch more than two, with another maybe as a "check in just to get the score, and maybe watch through the commercial," you just get nuts. Then you have the east, midwest, west thing too. Have fun.

Last night I flipped over to watch some of the Montreal Canadians game, not because I am a fan, but because I could. If they use the same broadcast feed for all of their home games, I won't be watching them...it was all in French! ;D

Did anyone watch the Stars/Avs game? They had a funny story about one of the Dallas defensemen. Dallas is kind of known for having quite a few Finnish players on their team, so a member of the Dallas press asked Matt Niskanen how his English was coming. He said it was pretty good, though he does have a bit of a Minnesota accent. The guy is from Virginia, MN. Someone didn't do their homework! :D
