You want to know what just occurred to me (other than the fact that the Red Sox are the best team ever to grace the game of baseball) ?  I don't think that a single Johnnie fan has uttered the phrase "monkey stomp" on the board this week.  You all MUST be nervous for that to happen.

Oh, but wait 'til you read my prediction on johnniefootball.com. I uttered it.

Wouldn't a Red Sox vs Rockies series be great?

Emphasis added! The Sox are exactly like the Yankees, but with fewer titles and more annoying fans. The Indians will prove the supremacy of the AL Central—and make me feel better about the absolute beatdown they gave the Twins this season. The Rockies...I just think the Rockies going would be cool. I'm excited to see how long this insane hot streak they're on can last.
Nice day, huh?

Just stumbled upon this messsage board...you guys seem pretty cool.  Especially Rocco.

Big game in Collegeville this weekend.  Where do you all meet?  I'd love to introduce myself to the group.

Does anyone bring water?  I need to hydrate myself for the marathon on Sunday!!

Oh, as for the game, that Ole offense is sick.  I saw Horace make one of the sickest catches I've ever seen at any level last week.  I think the Oles prevail 24-13.

And a hush falls over Collegeville...

Growing up with Fortman and watching him kick for many years, I can assure you he is the real deal.  Though, with the recent posts by OleFan, I am shocked that there is not any comparison to a Texas HS kicker anywhere.  ;)

A little thought on my HS's kicking game:  I saw a JV kicker split the uprights on a kickoff, but decide college was not for him.  (Sleeping through class while a recruiter is observing you is not good.)  The punter that year played for Texas Tech, but he was average.  The Varsity kickers the years ahead of him were clutch, but 30 was the limit.  One did make the UT squad, but his name is still banned from being mentioned on HS websites because of his severe lack of abilities.  Another one played at Notre Dame last year.  Before that most of the kickers played D1 ball.  I know one was just a kicker in HS, but also punted at Kentucky.  Previous to him was an OL that had a good leg.  He helped lead the offense to the 40 yard line, then put one through for the winning score.  I think having the Raven's Matt Stover as his kicking coach certainly helped.  Oh that lineman's name happens to be Phil Dawson.  Watching Fortman though you can tell he is a very strong kicker, and probably could play at a higher level.

I have not seen anything pointing to the kickers of my high school in recent years.  I am just shocked that you see fewer and fewer soccer players on football rosters, but that probably comes from soccer and football both being fall sports.  If I remember right, Nick Browne at TCU led one of the LT football teams and the soccer team in scoring in the same year.

Shouldn't olefan be starting all of his stories with "And one summer when I was at band camp........." ?   ;D

That has to be the longest post on kickers ever here, aside from the ones where Johnnie fans complain about theirs.

Seems like everything I've read so far concentrates on how the Johnnies' D will do against the St. Olaf offense. But what about the Oles' D against the Johnnies' O? At home this year, SJU's averaging over 50, and the last two years, the Johnnies have scored 35 in the first half and 30. Will anything be different tomorrow?

And no matter how good the Oles' offense is, how many times in the last 10, 12 years has an offense destroyed the Johnnies' D? Mount in 2001, Trinity in 2002, seems like that's about it. WW scored a lot in 2005, but the tons of turnovers played a big part in that.

ROR: I told you guys earlier this week to have no fear.  OAS was picking against the J's.  Surprise Surprise!!!!

I met a future Johnnie at a band camp one year.  His first choice was St. Olaf, but blowing your own horn is not a recognized instrument in the St. Olaf band.

I met a few girls at band camp who could blow (in their instrument).

A lot of the guys like to beat it (the drums) all day long.

I hope those are to your liking.  Remember to tip your bartender or Johnnie Red at his festivities.

I don't think it was a Johnnies are gay joke. Seemed like it was talking about SJU arrogance and..uh, masturbation.
