Face mask. Mark calling for blood. Brian more subdued, but says it was an obvious call.

Hell of a way to end the game by the Oles.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

They're in kneel down formation. Sort of anticlimatic, but a perfect ending. Oles  certainly deserved to win as much as the Johnnies.

Touchdown Tommy

Yea what a terrific game.  Olaf played well.  Can't wait to hear reaction from those at the game...

Good game Oles!

Congrats Johnnies! Talk about skin of your teeth! ;)

What a great game. Kofoed played a solid game and had two great drives at the end. What a big win. STO, nice game, now make your run for the playoffs. SJU focus on next week;s opponent.

I'm definitely getting too old for games like these.  Much prefer the rout.  Have a good weekend everyone.

I've got to admit that Olefan's claims of academic domination have sadly had an effect. As a guy who was accepted to both schools, perhaps I made a mistake. Who knew you could find such
intellectual depth
in the course offerings at STO?

The synopsis is a bit incomplete, however. Chapter -15: "How to Lead the League in Personal Fouls -- The Smart Thing to Do" is strangely missing.

Allow me to quote myself ... YOU WROTE THE BOOK MEIDT!

Although that last personal foul sounded like it was just a desperate lineman grabbing at anything and getting the facemask. Still, perfect timing. I grew up listening to the guy who does the St. Olaf games, and he's clinically depressed right now.

Ha you don't get a better shot to win in Collegeville.  What a way to finish the game.  5:30 to go and the Oles never see the ball again.  That is the Championship Way.  Well done Cardinal and Blue.

My limited net access had me sitting in the car listening to the Olaf announcers on the radio for the final 7 minutes after multiple updates from my sources. Sounds like I missed a doozy.

Gusties got down 21-rip early before rallying back to have the ball with a chance to tie late in the fourth. Instead, a 3-and-out allowed the Royals to send home the clincher.

Baby Biggins - How did that chant you loved so much last week go again? Someone smash, Bechdol kill? I trust you'll have that updated with a facemask call for next week's game against the Royals, who now appear to be the biggest threat left to SJU for the title.

Juicy STO Rumor Alert!!!
Our favorite non-gangsta Horace Gant was supposedly suspended from practice all week for, well, let's just say an incident with a female student on Olaf's campus. I'm glad Meidt had the balls to run the punishment through something that actually mattered, like the biggest game of the year.

Wait, what? Gant played the entire game? Weird...I'd never have expected that ::)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Wow, how about those Auggies ....

A few thoughts.

Congrats to the Johnnies. A win in typical Johnnie style up there, they made the plays when they had to. The Oles should have won that game, without question. I'll stand by my statement that the Oles have more talent and are better at almost every position on the field. The Oles haven't learned how to close out big games. The Johnnies are there week in and week out and make plays when they need to.

The Oles averaged 3.7 yards per rush and should have done it more. There was a few opportunities to control the clock and the game in the redzone at the end of the 3rd and we didn't do it.

And FYI for those of you who had to listen to it on the radio, that last face mask penalty -- although the correct call, was extremely unfortunate. Kofoed was already on the ground and Bechdol touched his facemask. Definitely a call that needed to be made, but did not have an effect on the play and was not dangerous. The end of the game would have been far more exciting if we would have had one more shot with the ball.

Congrats Johnnies and I hope the Oles take care of business each week the rest of the week so we may get another shot at the Johnnies in the post season.

I don't know if I would characterize snapping Kofoed's head halfway around: "touching" his facemask. Also, the statement that "the Oles have more talent and are better at almost every position on the field" is pretty bold.
