Thank goodness Mrs. Warthog and I were at a wedding in the Twin Cities on Friday night and chose to stay to do some shopping for a while Saturday.  Had this not happened we might have gone to Waverly and witnessed the most embarrassing Wartburg loss since Cornell beat the Knights six or seven years ago.  Regardless Augsburg is to be congratulated.

The real reason for my post is another issue.  We were listening to the second half of the St. Johns/St. Olaf on AM1170 as we were heading back to Iowa on I35.  Not only was it an exciting game, but the radio presentation was top notch.  My congratulations to the Johnnies network for an exceptional broadcast.  I have listened to D1 broadcasts that have paled in comparison to the job done today by the St. Johns' radio crew.

Oh for crying out loud, the excuses weren't supposed to happen until Monday.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

What a great game today.  STO has one hell of a team, no question about it.  Their O-line played fantastically today.  If they continue to play this well the rest of the season I think they can make a run in the playoffs.

It was great seeing such a large crowd at the Stiftungsfestivities.  I even shared a few libations with TC AFTER he divulged that he had picked STO to win by 2.  He obviously was still pulling for SJU and I hope that he has now learned his lesson. ;D

The personal foul call at the end of the game was the correct call and it appeared to be unintentional to me but it wasn't a "touch" as others have said.

Go Johnnies!!!
Go Johnnies!!!

Augsburg is really not as bad as St. John's might make them look.  Looking at the previous couple of Augsburg-Wartburg games, the auggies have kept it pretty close.  29-26 in '05 and 27-24 in '04.

Tough way for the Ole's to lose today.  Would have been nice if officials looked past the face-mask as incidental contact after the play was dead.  Never want to see a game end on an unintended personal foul.

Yeah, it should be like hockey.  Close game in the 4th quarter, let everything short of manslaughter go uncalled.  Somebody might get hurt, but oh well.

Of course, there's another way to prevent a game ending on a personal foul.  Don't commit one.

Bad news: I missed the game this morning.

Two-fold good news: Johnnies won and I finally got around to googling for a real media stream ripper so I can copy the games to my iPod and listen to them in the car on Monday (or in the case of tomorrow, the air).

On this mid-season shimmy by the Johnnies... In 2003 we saw the back to back weeks against the Royals and the Tommies that were pretty rough.  The J's came really good after that, so I'm still holding out a bit of confidence.   They are (hopefully) still working out the kinks.  I figure the form you hit is week 8 is the form you take to the post season.  Of course, week 8 is Hamline, but if we can get some good rhythm going you never know...

I always try to maintain the perspective that we compare every year against the greats of years past, while the other conference teams just want to beat us this year.  I'm just really grateful I picked SJU for school ... I was considering MAC at one point.  Gads.

I wasn't at the game.  The indication I got from reading about the penalty was that it was not malicious.  Do you really want to win on a "safety first" penalty?   Little accidents that don't affect the actual play shouldn't decide games.

That said, the Johnnies played well to come from behind 2 straight weeks and keep their playoff and conference championship hopes alive.

So, short of that penalty, STO would have won?  If that is the case, then the more appropriate question might be: why would STO want to throw away the biggest game of the season on a no-impact, after the play, senseless afterthought penalty (as it has been roughly described)?

I think you're pushing the barrow up the wrong hill.  Turn it around and go the other direction.

kubiack, are you about twelve hours ahead of Minnesota time?  I remember during standard time that Kuwait was twelve ahead of Alaska time.

Naw only about 9.5 hours ahead here in Afghanistan  it wierd that they add that half hour on guess were inbetween time zones ???    But OZJohhny has me beat it's like Wednesday where he's at. ;D

Hey I thought this was the big Karma circle jerk and yet I have lost Karma and I didn't even say anything bad about the Johhnies.  Actually I didn't say anything about the Johhnies.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.
