AO,

Isn't it time for you to use that Auggie-Wartburg score to proclaim Northwestern better than any team the IIAC has to offer?

Go sit under a sprinkler somewhere and maybe it will come to you ...

stanbob

He could sit under the sprinkler here, even though it is 25 degrees, it should be back above freezing by May though.

Frankrickard, I think you misread what I said. "If this kind of crap is indicative of life at Gustavus, I pity you people." Obviously, I don't think Willy is a reflection of an entire college. However, when he presents himself as a vocal alumni, his asinine comments reflect poorly on his alma mater. I think there are many people (probably including yourself), who don't deserve to have this guy representing them.

And if this were the way everyone "discussed" issues like Gant's absence, it would be a pretty slippery slope into constant mud-slinging. That kind of rumor and innuendo has no place in a football discussion. It's bizarre that you should invoke the memory of the Duke Lacrosse case while defending someone who employed the same tactics that destroyed those guys' lives. It isn't just what he's saying, it's what he is inferring. And it was patently offensive.

And Pat, I didn't mean to offend, but this is the way reputations are formed, and I think you'll agree that no one deserves to have their character and integrity assailed in that way. If people like Willy continued to use this great resource for the purpose of spreading innuendo, it would be well advised, at the very least, to shut them down.

Wow...

Freebird...I never said I was the voice of reason. In fact I deliberately asked whether or not I was out of line in being so upset by this and even offered to shut up about it if I was. That's so nice of you to assume that though. Maybe before you call us clowns, you should take the time to fully read the posts so you don't make yourself look like one in the process.

Stanbob...I didn't mention the young lady because nobody is spreading rumors about her on here. She is also a friend of mine and if someone started posting things about her with nothing to back it up, you better believe I would make a fuss about it as well. How's that for woodwork? Oh, and my username last week? It was Guest just like all of the years before that. I've read these forums for a while without being a registered user and never had any desire to post until I saw this subject.

Frank...I agree that we shouldn't judge all Gusties for the actions of one or any school by the actions of one for that matter. I don't think all Johnnie fans are pricks and I definately hope to God that you all don't think that everyone from STO is like OleFan.

True.
We were clearly the national champs in 2006 as Northwestern MN beat
Augsburg who beat Hamline who beat Carleton who beat Bethel MN who beat Buena Vista who beat Cornell IA who beat Alma who beat Albion who beat Butler who beat Dayton who beat Robert Morris who beat Central Conn St who beat Georgia Southern who beat Western Carolina who beat Eastern Kentucky who beat Western Kentucky who beat Southern Illinois who beat Indiana who beat Iowa who beat Iowa St who beat Missouri who beat Mississippi who beat Vanderbilt who beat Georgia who beat Auburn who beat Florida

An All-Division playoff would definitely make sense.

I didn't ask you to name her, I asked if she was making it all up to keep him from practice or whatever.  As friends of both, this one must be hard for you,

I like the pics of the facemask from the stands.  It looks nasty, and definitely a good call.  I am fine with that penalty from the Oles perspective.  Bechdol was hustling, and he just happened to get the facemask.  Penalties when a player is not hustling or loses focus drive me nuts.  I cannot stand the dead ball unsportsmanlike penalties.

Also, I don't know what I said to deserve being called a prick by a fellow Ole, but I apologize to everyone I offended the past week.  If there is something that I have done to you personally let me know.  I will gladly admit to my mistake(s) and seek your forgiveness.

I wish everyone the best of luck the rest of the season.

How long are you going to sit on the waffle iron hammer?

OleFan...I never called you in particular a prick I just said not everyone from STO is like you. What I was referring to was the "doctored photoshop" comments and how vaguely inferring that someone would alter them to prove a point is a little extreme. I'm not saying you accused anyone of doing that but just bringing that up can be enough in a situation like that. As a whole it just seems a little out there to me but I'm no photoshop pro so I guess I can't really say.

Stanbob...haha I'm not sure what you mean. I've never heard that saying before. Can you explain?

stanbob

Since you seem to know both parties (of the alleged incident), was wondering who is in the right, surely one of them is.

My 2c on the STO event (I can't even remember the guy's name... Mainly because I don't think I should.  Gant?).

I trust STO, unlike Duke, to handle this situation properly.  I don't think our discussing it here will do anything but fuel unseemly rumor mongering.  My position with this is the same as it was with our own situation earlier in the year:  if something unseemly happened, STO, much less the football team, would be better without that person on campus.

And with that, I say no more on this.

Ah....I figured that's what you meant but I wasn't sure. Unfortunately, I can't say because it's just not my style to discuss other peoples affairs especially in a public forum like this. If it were something that was made known to the public from the start I might consider talking about it. I know that could be considered a copout on my part but I personally just don't believe it's right. Sorry.

Oz...well said.

The Duke case was a disaster.  Quint Kessenich had some great comments regarding the case.  His big one was that there were other violations such as underage possession.  The impact on the lacrosse community has been huge from that event.  I have heard that Coach Pressler's book is very good.

Just having a look at the Top 25 poll, drifted to looking at STO's schedule and boy and I'm looking forward to the Bethel/STO game in two weeks.

The Royals have two weeks to prepare and STO will be charged since they must win to make the post season.  Actually, the Royals pretty much have to win as well (though they could beat the J's and still make it with the autobid, I suppose).  Should be a real rip-snorter.

Now, here's the dilemma: who do I support?  I care about the game so I can't help but cheer for one team or the other but it's a real Hobson's choice.  Hmmm.....  something for me to dwell on over the next 10 days or so.
