Forgot to mention that I spotted the UST Tommie Cheer Squad waving their pom-poms at the runners between mile marker 22 and 23 of the TC Marathon yesterday.  I guess when your football team is that bad you'll cheer for anything!

Was that all they were waving  ::)  .  Also did OAS finish yet?

Stanbob: Yes OAS finished in something like 5 hours and a 1 minute.  He was pleased as he said he "trained like St. John's practices" for the Twin Cities Marathon.

BTW: FYI, OAS is attending the PLU @ Linfield game on October 20.  Look for more gushing about his beloved Cats and for them to shower him with gifts in exchange for more coverage.  Funny thing is that no amount of publicity will help the Cats get in the playoffs this year (see: PLU, Whitworth, and NAIA Southern Oregon)

Chewey: No Stiftungsfestivities this week.  GAC sucks!  Pregame is at Patricks which is an institution in and of itself.  Make a point of corralling up Brice and attending the Stiftungsfestivities before the UST game.  TDT will be in attendance and early.  First brew is usually cracked pre-9am.  Also, my sources tell me that your Linfield comments have ruffled some feathers in McMinnville.  Nicely done, apparently they don't want to get "into a pissing match" with us!  Ha, could be that pathetic record again this season.

Stanbob:  Don't worry about it.  This week has Monkey Stomp written all over it.  The Gusties are overmatched and I smell a beatdown!!!

Didn't you make this prediction for the Carleton game?

Touchdown Tommy: I expect this game to be over by halftime. Alex Kofoed is firing on all cylinders and some long-time Johnnie football followers are saying this team may be special (See: potential to head to Salem). The Johnnies have been executing flawlessly and when they do this very few MIAC teams can beat them. The Knights are led by a John Gagliardi disciple, but as Kurt Ramler's mentor always says "You win with good players". Carleton still has a long ways to go to competing on a regular basis with the MIAC elite. They don't have the athletes to stick with the Johnnies for 4 quarters. Ramler has the Knights' program headed in the right direction, but he faces an uphill battle. Recruiting good football players who are also elite academics qualified for acceptance into the MIAC's most selective college is a daunting task. St. John's 55, Carleton 10.

That one didn't quite turn out that way oh wise president.  If the gusties don't spot a big lead like they did to bethel, I think it could be a close one

Just outta curiosity, when was the last time GAC beat SJU?  I am with Esq, I remember when GAC was a top-tier team in FB.  They always seem to play the J's tough for a quarter or a half, then fall apart.  If the wind blows on the hill the result could be close.  Otherwise, STOMP STOMP STOMP.

Wonka:  F' the haters, man.  Keep preaching!

For those of you from Ole-ville who are still around the board and are pissed that the game ended a little abruptly following the facemask penalty, we have our final word on the game up at www.johnniefootball.com.  Once again, I really hope everyone who made the trip up enjoyed their stay.  Let's do it again for the West Region Championship, eh?

Brice and I should be in attendance at UST for the festivities.  I'll have to come up Friday night so we can get there early and be drunk by halftime.  If we get arrested, we'll be in Ramsey County and won't have to appear before Johnnie Red who'd throw the book at us for sure.  Plus, I enjoy participating in Brice's motor vehicle traffic/congestion-defying escapades in the STU parking lots.

Don't know why my comments would be incendiary to Linfield fans; I enjoy getting their dander up though.  I always like to rib them in good humor but I have great respect for the program and I like the fans that post here.  I must admit to having enjoyed their eating crow a few times.  That said, I don't know how we would have done against them with that QB they had.  Though I'm no doubt annoying to them and the whole board generally, I do admire the Linfield program a great deal.  My 5 favorite Johnnie games/experiences are:

5.  Beating Bethel in 2001 for the conference championship when they were so cocky and then got pummeled.

4.  Beating Linfield in 2002 and unleashing Kent Crowley after much ballyhooing by their fans about how "you won't run against us"

3.  Beating Bethel for 409

2.  Almost beating Mount in 2000 and walking over to MUC's side of the field at halftime and seeing several deer in the headlight stares.

1.  Beating MUC in 2003 and watching Elliot run on one leg.

I don't know if anyone will beat MUC for awhile so I have to soak up the memories well.  There have been so many good games against great MIAC teams and other conferences that it's hard to pick my favorites.  We have been fortunate to have had so many.

Chewey,

Just an FYI, the game is with UST is at SJU this season.  Don't want you fellas driving around Summit and Cretin looking for a coveted parking spot on the 27th of October.  So make that Stearns County where you could appear in front of Judge Finsleft  8)

I believe SJU has taken Bethel to the woodshed twice in recent years when they were highly "touted" or ranked (5th and undefeated both times I think) 34-0 and 37-0.  Ho hum ho hum.

Bye bye Yankees. Bye bye Torre?

Fins,

I think I'd trade Torre for Gardenhire.  Thoughts?  I tend to think Ron is a mental midget.

OzJohnny93 - I must have missed the memo that this was the New York Times rather than a simple message board. Should I cite my sources for you next time as well? :-*
