Still, let Gardy manage the Yanks and let Torre manage the Twins this year...I think the records would be close to the same. Joe has had players to work with.

Touchdown Tommy

Nicky Poo would be down the road.  Ron has a frightening love affair with terrible utility players.

Stanbob: Reference what I told Frank Rickard earlier.  Also, ironically Carl "Moneybags" P is worth 3.1 billion.  I believe this is more than The Boss (American Shipbuilders) but I am not 100% positive on this.  So just cause ya have it doesn't mean ya spend it and vice versa.

Barnburner in Buffalo, the clicker has been getting a workout tonight.

Nice kicking.  That Dallas kicker must have played his high school ball in Texas, eh Ole Fan?

Fins - I have to thank you again for the koolaid this past Saturday.  It was very tasty and refreshing.  The limes and salt were nice additions, too.

The chief rent-a-cop came by when he saw Fins throwing away a Jose Cuervo bottle of margarita mix.  He told us to make sure that we kept things out of site.  It was an empty bottle of mix!  It never did contain any alcohol.  I was so afraid after that incident that I kept my bottle of Jack Daniels barbeque sauce in my truck.  If security would have seen that I most certainly would have been escorted off the campus.  It is reassuring, however, to know the level of security that we have during our pre-game festivities.
Go Johnnies!!!

Anyone notice that the Bison are up to No.1 in I-AA? They're going to kick the s*** out of the Gophers.
Nice day, huh?

Where is that game at this year, back to the dome?

At the dome on Oct 20th. 12:00 start.  Probably a 12:01 finish when the gophers are down by 21.
I'll give Brewster 3-4 years to bring in his own players.  Hopefully MN can go a bit higher than the Music City Bowl.

Seeing that baseball season was coming to an end, the Johnnies were steamrolling, and hunting season was still a few weeks off, Fins decided he could rake in a little extra dough to help cover tuition for the boys, so he made a pitch for a little extra work.  Given the writing skills being honed here and at Johnniefootball.com, he sold the paper over in Fargo on the idea that he could be a male "Dear Abbey" for the lovelorn.  He decided to write under the byline, "Hey, JR" (hmmm, I wonder where that "JR" thing came from).  He didn't expect the first person with a problem to be female.  Here's how he handled her:

Hey, JR,

I hope you can help me here.  The other day I set off for work leaving my husband in the house watching the TV as usual.  I hadn't gone more than a few hundred yards down the road when my engine conked out and the car shuddered to a halt.  I walked back home to get my husband's help.

When I got home I couldn't believe my eyes.  He was parading in front of the wardrobe mirror dressed in my underwear and high-heel shoes, and he was wearing my makeup.

I am 32, my husband is 34 and we have been married for 12 twelve years.  When In confronted him, he tried to make out that he had dressed in my lingerie because he couldn't find his own underwear.  But when I asked him about the makeup, he broke down and admitted that he'd been wearing my clothes for 6 months.  I told him to stop or I would leave him.

He was let go from his job 6 months ago and he says he has been feeling increasingly depressed and worthless.  I love him very much, but ever since I gave him the ultimatum he has become increasingly distant.  I don't feel I can get through to him anymore.  Can you please help?

Sincerely,

Sheila in Minot

Fins gave this some thought and responded as follows:

Dear Sheila,

A car stalling after being driven a short distance can be caused by a variety of faults with the engine.

Start by checking that there is no debris in the fuel line.  If it is clear, check the jubilee clips holding the vacuum pipes onto the inlet manifold.  If none of these approaches solves the problem, it could be that the fuel pump itself is faulty, causing low delivery pressure to the carburetor float chamber.  I hope this helps.

JR

Yeah, well, hunting season is just around the corner. ::)

Wonka--keep posting.  If people can't figure out that this is meant for discussion and not CNN, it's their problem.

TDT--I disagree with your "monkey stomp" prediction.  Our disagreement must be settled somehow (other than the game), so I suggest a drinking contest.  I know Frank will be in.

I don't know.  It was a nice kick though.  I am waiting for a coach to call timeout and have the kicker miss the FG, then make the second one.

TMerton- Where do you get your info?  I love the little tidbits.

I am really excited about this weeks Concordia/Olaf game.  We know St. Olaf is fighting an uphill battle from now on, but it should be fun.  The unfortunate part is that the winner has to keep the ugliest trophy I have ever seen.

Not really. It's my problem, because this all comes down on my head if there's a problem. This is why we have the Terms of Service in place. I have to enforce them to protect the site.

We'll take that under advisement -- however, I don't think I can hold you responsible if his next "rumor" is false. I'll be held responsible if that happens, so I have to enforce as I see fit.
