Anyone notice that the Bison are up to No.1 in I-AA? They're going to kick the s*** out of the Gophers.

And sadly, that's the best they can hope for is to be #1 in the polls at the end of the year.  No playoffs for the Bison until next year.

I see I got dinged on my karma for asking if the Ole game was cleaner...nice...its not like I posted a rumor about someone that I had to justify...

I've had a couple days to digest the happenings from Saturday.  Here are my thoughts:

SJU was fortunate because:

1.  STO did not start going vertical with their passing game.  Gervais was sitting on the outs and short patterns, and any double move would have been trouble.  I believe this was in large part because STO was afraid that the rush would not give them enough time.  SJU made adjustments, and took that part away.

2.  STO did not run the ball more.  The spread option run was very effective, especially with the double team on Gunderson the entire game.

3.  Injury to #2.  He was the real deal...

STO was fortunate because:

1.  I believe SJU could have exploited the edges more.

2.  SJU did not move Kofed around more.  We all know he is best on the move, and it seems to me that STO was not doing the job keeping contain.  Controlled roll outs with short-intermediate passes could have substituted for a non-existant running game (until 4th that is).

Link to Johnnie/Ole video. Almost 10 minutes of highlights - nice! Both of Weber's catches are there, though a little obscured.

Fantastic video.  If you look closely, you can distinctly see both Mr. Shoes and I offering our fanboyish congratulations to Brian Weber following his touchdown.

Yes, very nice video. We were a little excitable at that point, eh TC?
Nice day, huh?

Franks article in today's Daily Planet is about Gagliardi's quest for #450.

"I think I'm still here now. At least I hope so. I'll have to check for certain to make sure I'm not an apparition."

Still love the sense of humor :)

Mr. Shoes and Chris,

First off, thank you for posting the photo yesterday for me. :)

The Bison are in deed #1 in one of the two 1AA polls, even though they have less first place votes than #2.

Coaches
1. NDSU 8
2. Montana 15

The other poll in 1AA is the Sports Network poll, it carries more weight and would be comparable to the d3football.com poll ( ;D Plug for Pat)
1. Montana (55)
3. NDSU (24)

In addition to what Chris stated about NDSU being not eligible for the playoffs, they should not worry about Montana staying undefeated with quite possibly the dumbest offensive coordinator in college football ???

Ritz...good catch on the Linnemann piece in the next chapter of the book.  I went back and read two chapters last night and can hardly believe that was eight years ago.

Wow 2 Johnnie celebrities come outta the woodwork in the last 12 hours (Chewey and Brice).  Hey Chewey, is that Red Hot Bennie hot?  :D :D :D

Great pics Brice.  Which reminds me I've got a pic or two of you clowns on the plane coming home from Spokane @ approximately 2:45am...

I received a call from Kilted Rat last night/morning about 12:30am.  He was quite pleased with the game and just barely coherrent.  He said he owes his left nut to Buckman for the in-game updates.

I said I owe him your left nut. I may need mine someday ;D

Not gonna argue with being barely coherent!

There is also the AGS poll. http://www.collegesportingnews.com/article.asp?articleid=86057
(the 4th poll there is the historically black colleges..not a factor in NCAA playoff consideration)

if NDSU remains in the top 5, they will be the first FCS team (nee I-AA) to be that highly ranked and not play in the playoffs. If they run the table (including beating MN), they likely will finish no lower than #2. Really sucks this is their final year of transition. They are playoff-eligible in 2008.

Even though Montana is #1 and NDSU is #2, I am looking forward to the playoffs when App. State gets back into the picture.  Plus, I don't know how they lost to Wofford.  Is that even a school?

A bonus for MT fans is next year they are planning on putting in another 2,000+ seats at Washington Grizzly stadium making it around 27,000 seats.
