Mr.Shoes

I caught parts of the game while watching the Yankees LOSE. Didn't pay much attention to the announcers, though. They are so consistently awful that when the occasional good one comes along, I miss it.

I didn't do any math, BDB. Every post says the reply # above it. :P

Of course, you already knew that...

I agree with the majority of postings about the SJU/STO game. One thing about the facemask penalty. Even if called a 5 yarder, which was the least it could have been, SJU gets one more play, and STO gets the ball on the 5 with :55 left. Except for the return TD, none of their drives were quick hit affairs. SJU was getting their second wind, and I would have been astounded to see the Oles go about 65 yards in less than 55 seconds. How does a 40 something year old like Horace Grant, come back after his NBA career to play college football for STO? By the way, he didn't look like the 6' 10" he was listed at when he played for the Bulls. What? What's that? Oh. Never mind.

Olefan. Regarding the dissertation on the slashing call in LAX. It is my understanding that even if you swing your crosse wildly and miss someone, a slash can still be called because the player is responsible for controlling his stick. Even a light tap should be called in that case. The intention is important, is it not?

57Johnnie

57Johnnie is back and will post later about the great time he had at Homecoming, Stiftungfestivity and 50th reunion but for now I guess I have to splain a little bit about the Ole penalty since nobody seems  to know anything about football.
First thing is that you Oles are right. Just because Bechdol just about tore Alex's head off has no bearing on the call. Since there were ONLY 3 flags on the ground it had to be a marginal call.
The next thing was that some folks in the stands wondered whether the Johnnies would get a first down. I had to splain that St. John's is a Catholic school and yellow is the color of the Papal flag. When there were 3 of those yellow flags on the ground it meant that Alex was supposed to genuflect 3 times and hand the ball to the Referee. Now anybody that was at the game knows that is exactly happened.
I hope this puts an end to all this nonsense.

Well played, 57.  How was the big reunion?

You are very correct!  If you are interested in officiating lacrosse we would love to have you.  We need guys badly.

SUMMIT!!!!!

The latest Massey rankings should put smiles on many of your faces, as it says that SJU is #1 in the nation.  But any celebrating of that should be muted by the fact that MUC is down at #9, a spot BEHIND St Olaf and only six places ahead of Bethel.

The MIAC fares well, though, with 6 in the top 35.

AO-- check out who is ranked #148...well behind ALL the MIAC schools.

Fantastic. We had over 50 from the class attend. The sad part is that we have lost 60 already includind 4 pretty fair football Johnnies: Chuck Froehle, Gene Fujan, Dean Hall and Harry LaRose.

Mount Union is actually No. 1 in those rankings using the more accurate version. The only reason the watered-down rankings you're looking at even exist is because the BCS people are scared of margin of victory.

Mt Union   5   0   0.482   (9)   -0.53   (84)   1   OAC
WI Whitewater   4   1   0.560   (6)   0.00   (13)   2   WIAC
Capital   5   0   0.654   (4)   -0.26   (45)   3   OAC
M Hardin-Baylor   5   0   0.224   (24)   -0.68   (115)   4   ASC
Salisbury St   6   0   0.525   (7)   -0.35   (62)   5   ACFC
St John's MN   6   0   0.821   (1)   -0.14   (28)   6   MIAC
WI Eau Claire   5   1   0.444   (11)   -0.13   (25)   7   WIAC

Yes, use the Massey ratings with MOV, though it's rather hard to view, really. BCS ruined all the fun for everyone!

I LOVE THE MASSEY RATINGS!!   Augsburg, #31!  According to it, we've had the third most difficult schedule in all of D3!  And, last Saturday's win over Wartburg moved us up 51 places!  AND, we're the 5th highest rated school in the MIAC!  Wow, so much for my 4 wins in 3 years at Augsburg.  Heck, we're one spot ahead of undefeated, nationally ranked UWSP!  Wow, look out for Augsburg.

Seriously, though, I'm glad that others are actually seeing that we're getting better.  Still not great, but getting better.  That's a relief.  Haege will do good things here once he gets a few more years of getting better players and good young men on the squad!  Again, I love the Massey ratings!
Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?
