TDT is actually watching this redic Boise State versus Nevada game.  61-61 in the 4 OT.  This team sure plays some magical games...BTW: 57, 20 of 21 is downright amazing.  I am cheering for the Rockies.  Could be ending the season just like we started it...with Snow filled ballgames in Cleveland and Denver.  Murphy's Law

I watched the BSU/Nevada game as well.  It was quite good, but the announcer (not sure who he was) brought up a good point:  When a game goes into 4 OTs, is it putting players--especially the larger players--at risk of injury, dehydration, exhaustion, etc?  One could make the argument that the college overtime system is tainted due to this.  I like the college OT system better than the NFL sudden death, but not if it is putting players in danger.  One answer is to make teams go for a 2 point conversion in the first OT.    Any thoughts?

Are we talking gunshot danger or what...?   :-\

TDT - I hope you didn't hurt your arm what with all the patting yourself on the back.

I was just kicking Frank while he's down.  We are buds.  No worries.

Hope you get your wish TDT. Amazing thing is that, while the Rockies are primarily a hitting/defense team, they are winning with pitching/defense and they lost 2 starting pitchers just before the run started.  :'(

57 - I am always up early.  :P

And, I attend every Devil home game. If I don't show up, everybody just goes home.  ;)

Having a hard time getting on the Rockies bandwagon. But man they are hot.

I find myself pulling for the Indians.  :-X

I'm thinking Duffman would have eaten up that Pierskalla kid.

I must agree the GAC stadium is a great one...but it does not beat the ambiance of Clemens...the stadium might help with recruiting but they have alot more work to do than just recruiting...

First the offense is awful, I can't believe they nearly put 60 on Hamline...how can you get any rhythm when you stop late in the clock to change the play or just look at your coordinator on the sideline?  The defense was ok...but lacks the foot speed to stay with J's especially on the outside...and GAC linebackers are not swift enough to stay with guys like Saladin or backs out on routes.  Alex played well but there were some missed opportunities...

I think the Hamline game could get as ugly as 2003...74-7 anyone?

I like it a lot better than NFL also.  A few thoughts.

Part of this is a coach's responsibility.  Hopefully they are going to put in their best players at the time at the end, so you would think that a fresh reserve would be better than a dead-tired starter.  Did not see any evidence of this last night though.

You could also put in a bit longer breathing time between possessions.

Also, instead of having to go for a two point conversion after two OT's you could go to a kick off, much like soccer and only award one point to keep the scores from getting into the tripple digits.  Start at the 25 and move 5 yards back after each successful kick.

One of the things I don't like is including any OT performance in statistics, but not sure how to get around that.

re MIAC Pick-'Ems:

Cobbernation, I hope you understand this aggression will not stand.  It's shaping up to be quite the race to the finish--if the Wittenberg/Wabash game were one point closer, we'd be tied right now.

Everyone, AO (a delusional Northwestern fan) is currently winning the MIAC Pick-'Em quite handily.  PLEASE put more thought into your picks!!!

I am going to win and you will be left in tears.  But then happiness comes along knowing your johnnies will be in the playoffs again this year.  I might want a case of newcastle now!

I forgot that you own the ball. If you don't go they can't play. 8)

If the rockies win on Monday, their ways of winning 22 of 23 games will propel them into the World Series.  What are the chances of them being favored in the world series vs. an A.L. team?

Sfury-Prybil (sp?) I think was the kicker back then. One of the best games between CST and SJU was the year before the '86 game, the 1985 game was early in the year, but had title implications, as the two best teams were facing each other. CST had a lead into the fourth quarter and had the ball, up by two, with under two minutes remaining. SJU either had no timeouts or just one. CST then displayed their usual football savy by running out bounds twice to stop the clock. SJU gets the ball back and with a few seconds on the clock, kicks the game winner (from a decent distant, 30-35 yards?). SJU goes wild, wins the MIAC and advances to the playoffs, to be defeated by Occidential. So coming off that season, yea 1986 was a dissapointment.

Here are my thoughts coming out of the Johnnie game....the entire day is one I would like to forget...

Got to win the NLCS first. Pitching a rookie tonight that didn't last 3 innings last time out and then have to face Webb the next night - isn't over til it's over :-\
