IN my opinion Concordia definitely outplayed St. Olaf.  St. Olaf was lucky come away with a win form that game.  Deontae not playing did hurt the D, but it was ugly.  I did like the decision to go for 2 by Concordia since they were on the road.  St. Olaf was finally starting to stop Concordia during that final drive.

The Ole offense also looked to be missing a few players, and Schmeising needs to get more involved in the Offense.

The penalty stat has to be wrong.  I seem to remember the Oles getting more penalties.  The Oles at times make it an art, and of course they always come at the worst times.

Yes it was up and down for both sides of the football for both teams, but generally a tight matchup.  I agree with the call to go for two at the end as well as did the guys that I talked to after the game.  To a few of the STO fans, a few of you need to take a look at the MIAC motto.. they score sould certainly say that we had a great afternoon of football, there was no reason for the lack of sportsmanship.  As for the calls, there was def more call against the Oles, but that does in no way excuse some (4 in particular) calls that were easily missed.  All in all a great matchup as I said before.. I just dont see how the Cobbs are still being snuffed out of a "others receiving votes" catagory..  our boys are giving us a great season, and obviously besides the SJU score, should be seen as another great team in D-III.  For all its worth, they have my vote.

See you in St. Paul on Saturday

And me, from deep in the north woods, having donned my lucky (pink?) shirt, was named absent fan of the week.

Pink?  Did TDT take you shopping when you went down to visit him?

Touchdown Tommy

Here is a pic I just dug up outta the archives of Finsleft down here chasing some trim at Sloppy Joe's.  No pink Tmerts, just lots of green beads and beers in each hand.

Apologize for the darkness, from TDT's cellphone camera.

One of the great joys in the Navy was getting new movies every time we did an underway replenishment ("unrep") for fuel from an oiler or food from a stores ship.  Unfortunately, at the time we saw an awful lot of Audie Murphy in bad Italian westerns so quality wasn't great  :-[(one decent movie and 3 awful movies was the norm).  And these were the old reel films, which were passed back and forth over the water on a line between the ships.  Occasionally, on a rought night, you'd lose the package of films.  No one was happy then, least of all the captain. :P

Ex-Navy?  Bonus.  I'm ex-Navy as well (pre-Johnnie days).  I remember the relief when my mom sent a VHS of that Robert De Niro movie Midnight Run.  We watched that until the tape broke since it was such an improvement over the usual Navy provided fare.  Or sitting the Coop's rec-room watching one more "Adult Movie".  I still drop a couple lines from The Devil In Miss Jones 4 as we watched it enough to memorize the entire dialog (admittedly, not too many words to remember in the end...).  The nancys from the radar room worked on the action scenes...

It seemed like a lot of holds and blocks to the back went uncalled in that game.  It was definitely on both sides of the ball.  Did you and your fellow Cobber fans feel the same way?

Any thoughts from the Concordia fans about St. Olaf/Bethel?  I would like to get a little bit of a preview.

I have been amongst those with the trash talking towards everyone.  My only comment is that every school has its share of jerks, and y'all met Olaf's version.  Hopefully the next time your experience will be better.  I know a few people did not appreciate the guys with the flags running the whole length of the stands.  I also heard a few comments about the bullhorn.  It seemed a little excessive, but that is probably more a result of Manitou only having one set of seats.

PI: How was Lincoln?  I don't believe we got a report on the trip.  I presume you were down there checking on Nathan Swift and company.  Also, would you be so honored to be the featured Hamline contributor this week on Johnnie Football

As I remember, Midnight Run and A Fish Called Wanda came out within a few months (years?  who's counting?) of each other.  Still flat out two of the funniest movies I've ever seen. (And yes, better than Dumb and Ole-er.)

There's a dude over on the WIAC board just crusin' for a bruisin'. He just teed it up, but I didn't have the heart this late to pull out the big dog and smoke it down the fairway about 295.

Damn Tmert, if nothing else wander over there for the entertainment value  ;)

Everyday is payday in paradise.

Veek

TDT - what the hell happened to your previous post about strolling down memory lane that had an attached picture?  That man was vaguely familiar. ;)

At least that picture was one hell of a lot better than that dark piece of s*it you posted of Fins.  Fins is very photogenic and doesn't deserve to be portrayed so poorly.  Get with the program.
Go Johnnies!!!

Funny how they are already counting on playing MUCk in Salem.  I have a feeling the Big Red will have something to say about that this season...

Ha Veek you rascal.  I indicated an apology for the poor lighting.  Conditions weren't optimal for ROR quality photos inside Sloppy Joe's, about 17 beers deep, and all kinds of talent down to Key West on Spring Break diverting my attention.

I was instructed by that mystery man to take down his photo.  I thought it was innocent enough....
