Don't know if anyone has already discussed the Massey Ratings, but since the topic came up earlier about getting rid of the QOW index, I was wondering if the Massey was a small % factor?  Esq. do you recall if the J's had ever been at the top before?  Link at...

Unfortunately, those are the less-accurate Massey Ratings, the ones that he has to produce to appease the BCS. His actual formula is the one that is under the MOV column, where the 1 is next to a familiar team in purple.

The Jays have topped the Massey before, though it is a bit difficult to parse that fact here.  But I don't think they have since then, however.

I'm not a huge rankings guy, especially numerically defined ones, so it is what it is.

Oh, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. 14% of people know that-- Homer Simpson

Sfury-I second Duffman's praise-well done. It was nice that SJU was one of the first to stream on line and I have been able to follow them for many years. The early days were something when you talk "buffering," as SJU had maybe 3 connections available and if you weren't connected during the pre-game forget it.

Heading out to Boulder today to see my daughter and the Colorado-Kansas game tomorrow. Hopefully the Buffaloes will give the Jayhawks a good game.

Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

Sorry, JJR - my father was a Jayhawk.  Have a good trip.

Veek, congrats to you and your bride on the new Johnnie in the family. Hope all is going well.

Sounds like the weather is supposed to be nice here in Minnesota tomorrow, which should only benefit the Johnnies when they visit Piperville.
JR let me know how the local support is out there these days.  Last time I was there for a K-State game against CU, the students showed up about 5 minutues before kickoff and left at halftime.

Oh, and speaking of Kansas, I saw one of my favorite license plates there - "SHTHPNZ"  :)

Congratulations on the Jayhawk success this year.  What's the reason for their improvement? I lived in KS for 6 years and followed K-State in football, KU in basketball and WSU in baseball (see a pattern there?).  Looks like times are a changin.

I second all the compliments to sfury on his article on johnniefootball.com.  And here's my favorite sentence:

"And don't forget about johnniefootball.com, currently available at johnniefootball.com."

Where'd you say that was again?  :D ;D

Thanks guys. Glad I could contribute at...johnniefootball.com.  :D

I'm actually headed out now for the weekend so won't be able to follow tomorrow, but I don't think I'm going to miss any drama. Although I still remember the taunting phone call I received from a cousin whose boyfriend was a running back on the 1994 Hamline team that beat the Johnnies.

I don't follow KU football so can't really say.  I do know their coach was Bob Stoops' first offensive coordinator at Oklahoma and is supposed to be something of a offensive wizard (and is one of the few head coaches who needs to lose more weight than Charlie Weis).  As for KSU football, it's all a matter of perspective.  When I was growing up and following Big 8 footall, KSU was the signature team for football futility and almost always last in the conference.  Checking their records online, I see that between 1940 and 1989 they had 19 seasons in which they didn't win a single conference game.  Their winning goes all the way back to ... 1993.  Bill Snyder did indeed work wonders.

I must say I am quite impresssed with the new website guys.

I'm not sure what impresses me more...the site itself or that you all found a way for Touchdown Tommy to actually contribute to something so professional and impressive
