Bias?  I almost forgot that non-johnnie fans are the only ones capable of bias.

I'd be the last one to ever claim not being biased. I just find it humorous that ever since SJU crushed NWC, you jump on the bandwagon of any team you think has a chance of playing SJU tough fasted than an Ole LB jumping on the pile after a whistle. I truly believe you anti-SJU bias to be as strong if not stronger than my SJU bias.

I wasn't making the case that those were the only scores that matter in the league, but they were a good indicator that St. John's isn't exactly the heavy favorite to win the conference that it thinks it is.

SJU is un-defeated, ranked #3 in the country, has beaten Bethel 5 of the last 6 times the two teams played, and 25 out of 28 games overall, and they will be coming into the game rested and well-prepared with a bye week before the game.

Bethel is un-ranked (although in the also receiving votes category), has a loss to 3-4 Buena Vista, and will be coming off a 7PM night game in the dome the week before against an up and coming Augsburg team.

Why isn't SJU the favorite?

Also, I would like to know where you're getting your info that SJU thinks it's the heavy favorite. Gags frequently says he gets nervous before every game including Hamline!

You have a tougher opponent in St. Thomas than Bethel has in Hamline and Augsburg before the SJU-Bethel matchup.

This is highly debatable. As I mentioned above, Augsburg already knocked off the #11 team in the country in their house and today beat Carleton by 22 points (only 2 less than Bethel won by since you love those cockamimi scoring comparisons).

Also, Augsburg is 3-4 while UST is 2-5. Apparently all that is required for 1 team to be better than another is for you to think so. This explains why NWC is better than most high school teams.

I'm hoping the johnnie players are only looking forward to St. Thomas and Bethel can only see Hamline in the headlights, so the potential championship game in arden hills is preserved.
Agreed, however I think Bethel overlooking Augsburg and Hamline is much more likely than SJU overlooking the rivalry game with UST (who sucks).

Regarding the playoffs, SJU likely gets in with 1 loss, not with 2. Bethel's only shot of getting in is the AQ by winning the MIAC.

JR,
Welcome back! So you're saying there is a light somewhere at the end of the military medicine tunnel ;)

Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

AO,

Don't be a flippin idiot....no one from SJU said, nor would they, that a 2 loss Johnnie team would make the playoffs.  Every year you come out of the bushes long enough to make everyone dumber for having read the sh1t analysis that comes out of your head.  I am sure you can make the argument that your beloved Northwestern can beat just about anyone in Div 1,2 and 3.

The big difference between this year and last with the Bethel game will be the loser will not be in a position to share the title (provided both teams pay attention the next two weeks).  Last year, SJU had a share of the title going into the game (due to Bethel's early loss to Carleton).  Bethel will need to win the conference for a chance at the playoffs...they have no chance at Pool C.

Great halftime adjustments by the Johnnies again today.

Now it is on to the SJU/Tommie game.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we will have another huge turnout for the Stiftungsfestivities like we did for the homecoming game.
Go Johnnies!!!

KR,

How is doing the DR thing going.  You have been on a one track mind with football lately.  I haven't seen any of those humorous Dr stories lately.  Matt is studying all the time.  Lots of tests.  Hope all is going well for you.

I guess I'll be there. Have to wash my lucky pink shirt again.

Nice afternoon at Hambone today. Was wondering about the facilities there myself when I saw SJU at halftime gathered in a corner of the field. You just spent millions on your facilities and this is the best you could do? WTF?

I missed the first few minutes of the game, but the score made it look like a better effort than it was. Other than maybe the Concordia game, I haven't seen a wire-to-wire great performance yet this year. Our D looked good enough, but not great, and it seemed like it took them a while to wake up. Some questionable play calling and execution by the O, too. The O line seemed to have some difficulty handling their D line, particularly in the 1st half. And I thought SJU should've tried to open things up with more passes early. And I think it was Zip who pointed out here the need to put a middle linebacker in to plug the holes the Pipers were hitting early.
But then, you have to ask yourself, how can you bitch about a 46-7 victory?

Touchdown Tommy

Geez Fins that is a lot of football talk.  Are you feeling okay tonite?  It was definitely enjoyable to be able to watch the game on the 'net via Hambone's webcast.  Great video quality and the overhead perspective was nice to see plays develop or when Kofoed would miss/not see an open guy.  I thought we were real sluggish today but tough to complain about a 39 pt Stomp.

TDT will be there bright and early with "Bad Boy" Verkuilen. (CC to Pat: Don't bother joining the Stiftungsfestivities you aren't welcome)  Might want to get there early for a seat at the Cage Matches  8) 8)

Fellas: AO is an idiot.  He clearly isn't a sound football mind.  Nobody, even the most passionate Bethel fan, would spew such BS.  I wish he'd stick to the UMAC board.  I hear there is lots going on over there  :o :o :o

Fins...even though I thought we could have played better today, I have to also give Hamline some credit.  They looked a lot better than I expected, based on their record.  Other than one horrible snap and the QB flubbing a couple others, they seemed to execute pretty well and had some decent players.  Never bought a program but I think they have mostly Freshmen and Sophomores?  They impressed me.

Maybe the facilities are not big enough for all teams, but I thought for the St. Olaf game they were more than adequate.  It is an issue once every 2 years, and that does not justify a major expansion.  I was talking with a group from all MIAC schools at Klas, and the building was designed for a new snack area and ballroom for students.  It was going to be used for football, but that was never a focal point.  It was the only place that the school had for the building.  I know the SJU coaches in the past have complained that the facilities at St. Olaf were not large enough for them, but I cannot justify the added tuition for better athletic facilities that might only be used a few times a year for a group that does not benefit me.  I think most of the Johnnies here would agree that it would not be fruitful to build a large state of the art lockerroom for the visiting teams to use.
