We attended the St. Olaf/Bethel game today and scouted Bethel.  It was a much more competitive game than SJU/Hamline.  STO did not play very well and looked like a totally different team from the one that played SJU.  Bethel looked good and SJU had better get its game on when it goes to Bethel.  They must stop the run.  Bethel's passing game is good but they clearly rely more on the run.  That #5 is a good replacement for Porta.

Chewey;  Good to read you and Bryce are still spending quality time together.  Now get your rear end up to Collegeville for some quality "Stiftungsfestivities".   :-*

And by the way.... RHB is Hot.

KR,

How is doing the DR thing going.  You have been on a one track mind with football lately.  I haven't seen any of those humorous Dr stories lately.  Matt is studying all the time.  Lots of tests.  Hope all is going well for you.

It's been going great! I have a few good stories saved up, I just haven't taken time to type them out yet. I'll try to post some in the coming days.
Tell Matt I remember those days and they eventually come to an end!

KR: My post got deleted before.  Do you have Betty pics?
Not on my computer here, but at home. Unfortunately I won't have access to it for 2 weeks.
Betty was a very classy girl :)

KR, my former Johnnie roommate has done rather well. He is certified in three different areas of medicine and just became an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado.

Sounds like he's done very well for himself! Only 216 more days until I graduate!!!

Shoes,
I remember the USTD T-shirts fondly. I believe they were made my senior year or the year after. Classic!

You don't happen to have any pics of the highway sign, do you?
Also, PM me your e-mail address and I have a "special" pic to send you that exemplifies my feelings about Tommie-Johnnie week
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

This was in the comments section on the St Cloud Times write up on the Johnnies game, I felt it was quite worth sharing:

"I listened to this one on the radio and it sounded like they were a little flat. They'll have to play much better from now on, no more cupcakes on the schedule.

I went to St. Olaf yesterday for the Bethel game and the Royals look pretty good. St. John's may have to beat the Tommies next week to be sure they get in the playoffs.

That was the first MIAC game I've ever seen that didn't involve St. John's and it was quite a learning experience. First of all I can see why everyone wants to beat the Johnnies, everything about the program is so much better than anyone else's. The Oles - Royals game was the biggest one of the year that didn't include St. John's and there were only about 1500 people and no passion from the crowd on either side. It takes St. John's to bring out the best, or worst, from the supporters of other teams. Johnny football is the economic engine that drives the whole conference the way it looks."
Everyday is payday in paradise.

I bet they leave the field exactly like they did the last time they played at Bethel.  Look it up: both classy and a stomp.  Ouch.

(Good to see all you Bethel supporters popping up.  At least that couldn't be predicted with any accuracy...  ::)).

Are you really referencing the the game two years ago and forgetting what happened last year?????

What Bethel supporters are you talking about?

Great halftime adjustments by the Johnnies again today.

Now it is on to the SJU/Tommie game.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate and we will have another huge turnout for the Stiftungsfestivities like we did for the homecoming game.

IN!!!

Keith McMillan and I would like to RSVP affirmative for Saturday.

Pat,

Looking forward to seeing you again and meeting Keith for the first time.

Keith,

You will live a D3 experience that is second to none.

Come early.  I'm sure we'll have a large and early crowd for this one.

My wife and I will be in Las Vegas for a bankruptcy convention this upcoming weekend so I won't be at the game.  Brice will be, however.  I'll be at the Brothel game in full force to see the gyro jump by the Brothel faithful and to wait 45 minutes for a pop at their concession stand.  "Onward Christian Soldiers" my eye.  Looking at all of the Bethel FB groupies at the game, I'm sure they dance and more. At least we know Bethel will lose first round if they get to the playoffs.  Sorry Bethel fans, I'm starting the chit chat a couple of weeks early, I know.  I'd like to have the #1 spot in the West and I'd sure like to see UWW lose but a playoff road trip to Mary Hardin Baylor sounds nice too.  Does RHB do lap dances?  It's been awhile since Brice and I have had one.  :~)

Very good points.  If a team plays SJU, there are three times as many fans.  Of course, SJU faithful probably make up a good portion of them.  I've been to a few games at other stadiums where the Johnnies are not involved and the attendance is pretty slim.  With a game as big as the STO/Bethel game this weekend, I thought there would be a lot more fans.  Maybe at Olaf, the great swim team gets all of the fans.  Maybe at Auggie, the wrestling team gets all of the fans.  We're spoiled with the facilities and attendance at SJU so much so that it seems awkward when I go to other places.

Esq-nice analysis.
Looks like I will be in the house on Saturday, as my son's team won and we adavnce to the playoffs.
Look forward to seeing TDT and Pat together, I am sure thay have a lot to discuss. ;D
Veek, will let you know of my plans, but either way 8:30 sounds like the time for a Tommie game.
Ritzy-I am afraid of the new drink, but the Jagger combination two years ago wasn't bad.

The vast majority of the "fans" for the oles are lifeless at games.  It's terrible.

So, with the Olaf loss, is Bethel the MIAC's best hope for an at-large bid for a 2nd MIAC team to join the post-season?  Looking at the possible options, UW-SP finishes the season with Oshkosh, EC, & LAX.  Wartburg still has to face Simpson, Cornell & Central.  Looking at these two teams' remaining schedules, the last regular season games of the year look to be quite important.  IF all three teams win out, I know, a big upset over SJU would be necessary, but might we end up with 2 in the playoffs?  If Bethel wins all but the SJU game, do they still have a chance?  I believe it would be expected that both UWSP & Wartburg would probably lose to the favorites, and therefore, does that put Bethel back in?  I know stranger things can happen, and we games aren't played on paper, and all of the other cliches but, do you think we still have a chance of getting two in?  Of course I hope and want my guys to make sure Bethel DOES NOT get in, but using what the oddsmakers would say, where do we stand as a conference?
Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

BTW- Crowds at Auggie Wrestling events ARE pretty darn good, and lively.  However, there is a huge difference in seating capacity when comparing Clemens and the Augsburg Gymnasium.  I would fully agree, the Johnnie travelers DO drive the economic budget for many other shools in the conference.  I realize it is frustruating for the Johnnie fans to pay more than normal when they travel to away venues, BUT, as an Econ minor- it is simply a matter of supply and demand.  Especially here at Augsburg, seating is limited, and therefore when supply is fixed and demand is high, those with who hold control over the supply have a great incentive to move toward equilibrium!  Thanks Johnnies!

Another question, does Ohio Northern have a chance to get in?  They are the 16th ranked team in the nation (for now, will probably move up with the Olaf loss) but are stuck in a conference with two STUD teams.  Is there a hope for a conference getting a 3rd team in?
