Back in Illinois now. :(
Good to see everyone at the Festivities yesterday.
Thanks to JR for another great tailgate.
Veek, thanks for the seat and had a great time watching SJU, but a little troublesome on D.
My take on what I saw on D:
#10, small and couldn't find the ball all day. That TD in the corner of the South endzone, bad, never turned around to find the ball. The TD or big gain at/in the North endzone in second half, looked like he though the ball would get their quicker and/or the receiver wouldn't try-wrong on both accounts.
#6-What was with that cushion in the first half? At least 8 yards before the snap and then back another 3-4 on the snap-that is why those 8 yard plays were open. SJU did adjust nicely on the last UST drive of the half, by having #6 play bump coverage, through off the Toms.
The shotgun, with the single back getting the handoff, like Hamline, work great for UST. That is something SJU needs to work on big time.
I am sure that Jerry and Gerry will have things solved in two weeks, but SJU needs a solid D to make a run.
O-play a good game, some mistakes, but some nice calls when it mattered-like fourth and 3 in the fourth quarter.

SUMMIT!!!!!

You're a Tommie, your opinion doesn't count ;D

I stand corrected Mr Maniac; In the view from Cretin Ave on Thursday you did indeed predict the Johnnies by 31-14.  Rumor has it you backed off that prediction a bit by game time.  On the other hand, you also had this observation:

"The running game can be UST's Achilles Heel, but Jake Casey and Scott Brink are both explosive enough to keep the defense wary. If the "D" backs off the run, they can – and will- make teams pay for that mistake."

I'd say that 133 yds in 21 carries by Mr Casey helped open up their passing game a bit.

Jimmy G. mentioned on the post game that he was concerned Wimmer might be out until the first or second week of the playoffs and I heard some other commentary that these types of injuries have sometimes been season ending, so let's hope for the best.

Yeah, I was afraid of that.  But I initially thought shattered forearm, so I guess it is better than that.

Keith,

Just wondering if you enjoyed your first game in Collegeville.  Not a real pretty game, but I'm hoping the ambiance was enough to make you enjoy your stay.

I incorrectly had a feeling that the Johnnie defense would make a statement going into the bye week. >:(

After watching the game film (video) I would venture to guess the Bethel coaching staff will be licking their chops :o

My prediction would have been SJU 56 UST 7, not because I thought our defense would dominate, but because I underestimated the Tommie offense, based on the one game I saw them play against Gustavus.

Even though I did not think our corners were able to cover the Tommie receivers very well, Sauer made some great throws.  I think this was the first head to head where he matched AK.

Yea, last year the ROCORI boys faced each other in St. Paul and AK11 got the best of him that day. Both are great QB, just one has had a better supporting cast.
