Wow! I got goosebumps reading that. Great articles!

But hell, in a few days you're going to have to do it all over again. ;)

The 4,700-word column is what keeps Keith from being more of a midweek presence on the message boards.

And yes -- what SJU fans have, I hope they do not take for granted. I was telling a friend who is aware of D-III and supportive of the site that if I ever need a pick-me-up for football, a shot of adrenaline to keep the sites going, that a game at SJU would do the trick.

I guess Kieth "The Mount Union of the Message Board" McMillan had good reason for his absence.  That article must have taken a "while to compile." Well woth the wait.

Nice work Keith! I do appreciate your kind words about my alma mater. Walking into that stadium for the first time on my campus tour nearly knocked me over—and it was empty.
Nice day, huh?

I haven't read Keith's article yet but I think it's great too.

By the way, there ain't one person in the sea of 12,000 that takes anything at SJU for granted.

Ditto, ditto, ditto on all the acolades on Keith's article.  I bet there are more people listening on the web broadcast every week than attend games at some D3 schools.  As someone who has lived away from MN for 7 years at various times, whether here or at my PC, SJU football is the highlight of my week in the Fall.

I don't know if any one else has seen this yet or not.  Smith Center, Kansas put up 72 points in the first quarter of a high school playoff game to set a new record for points scored in a quarter.  They ended up winning 86-0.  Through 9 games this season, they have outscored their opponents 640-0.  Here is the link.

Great front page pub SJU...congrats.

Thanks Keith, for keeping us fans of other teams, informed on such great situations.

Makes me want to have my younger son "Johnnie Up!" when it's college time for him.  :)

Keith, you nailed the Collegeville game day experience as well as anyone could in writing. Well done.

Now, add to that the friends we make on this site and meeting them there, or other D-3 sites to watch a game and you've got the whole D-3football.com experience.

Good job d3football.com. team :)

Okay, so that's what he was working on.  A fine job indeed.  (And here I was afraid he hadn't enjoyed it.)

Believe me, Pat, I don't take it for granted.  We don't live nearby and I'm not a native (unless going to camp in Brainerd one summer counts), so I'm not exactly sure how it has all come together.  Superficially it would have made more sense to have urged #2 son to stay out here on the left coast - it certainly would have been easier to get to see his games, and usually to do it wearing just shirt sleeves.  But a few trips to this board (a well deserved tip of the hat to d3football.com), followed by a trip back to see SJU itself and to meet John and some of the other coaches (not to mention the beers and eelpout ale shared with Fins in the gee-rage) - and we were hooked.  It's still not easy or cheap to get there, and I do tire of the redeye flight, but I've never enjoyed myself more at a football game - which includes some pretty nice and historic D1 venues.  And as always, it's the people who make the difference.  (Geez, I think I'm gonna cry here - :'( :'( +k to all!)

Now, if we can just dance past Bethel ...  ;)

Go Johnnies!

Hi everyone in Minnesota,

Great piece on the homepage about a St. John's home game.   It is all true.    Any NWC fan should try to get to a St. John's game if their team is traveling there.     St. John's fans are incredibly friendly to outsiders.     My wife enjoyed their very potent Bloody Mary served in 22 degree December weather.

I look forward to another Linfield trip there.   Just a different score.

again, echoing what everyone else is saying....It is an amazing place. Last years bethel game was my first time to a fooball game at SJU, and it is unbeatable. Setting, atmosphere, overall experience...

Hey, stanbob, I can't get enough of ribbing some of the WIAC folks.  Specifically, Bobo.  It's like watching Naked Wild On after the wife has gone to bed; you know you should stop, but you just can't.

I know what you mean Oz, had a few last night and that stuff started eating on me so I had to go back and vent a bit.  Maybe it is just me, but I fail to see anything he presented that made any sense at all.  Matter of fact I am drinking some Aussie wine tonight and may have to go and revisit the WIAC update board.   ;)
Everyday is payday in paradise.
