85-28 Olaf over Carleton.  It was 29-28 Olaf at the half.  The final touchdown came from a Senior who rarely gets to play.  He intercepted a pass and took it to the house with under 30 seconds to play.  There was a lot of off the field drama at this game.

Off the field drama?  Do tell more...

Unless I have missed something in the history books, SJU has never scored 80 points in the history of its storied program (although it did beat Little Falls High School 20-0 in 1922, which might have been the equivalent).

How does St Olaf's backup quarterback only have one passing attempt?

How does St. Olaf's 3rd string QB not even get in the game?

Inquiring minds want to know...

I'll offer what I can though the buddy who I'm getting the info from was already wrong once already today...

Up 56-28, the Ole starter threw a bomb to the Florida kid on the first play of the drive. As the Carleton players walked with the chains, the CC coach stood with his hands on his hips staring down the Olaf coach from across the field. Makes you wish the postgame handshake was miked.

A question — who's on the hotter hot seat right now, the Tommie coach, the Gustie coach or the Golden Domer coach? Makes me almost glad my Cards don't have a football program...

At least we know that the pompous ass*s known as the olettes will not be in the post season where they could likely find the foot on the other shoe.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

64-28 Olaf with 12:41 left in the 4th Quarter...

"Matt Penz pass complete to Horace Gant for 49 yards to the CAR18, 1ST DOWN STO (Drew Ziller)."

Nice work, Oles.
Nice day, huh?

The off the field drama comes from the Olaf student section being jerks and running around the field like the Carleton fans were allowed to do.  Once the Olaf fans were asked not to run on the track they did it again.  As a result they were ejected.  Then they were escorted off campus and the police were called.  It was obvious to the Oles that the fans were getting ejected, and I think that gave the team some extra motivation.  Someone said the students involved are banned from Carleton.  It was an overreaction from rented security.  The fans did deserve to be ejected since they did not follow directions.

Another person fell down a few rows resulting in a serious injury.

I am still undecided on how badly Olaf ran up the score.  The Olaf offense had a horrible first half.  It definitely looked like it could be like the Concordia/Olaf game where the last team to score would win the game.  Most of the points did come with a short field or on turnovers.  St. Olaf was also without several key players.  I did not see Hutchins at the stadium or after the game.  The Oles only had 2 QBs today.  I guess the biggest problem is that Olaf did score 56 points in the second half.  Meidt and many others will have to answer questions about the game in Northfield.  There will be plenty of phone calls and emails to him.  I think he said his first year he received a phone call from quite a few Carleton parents regarding the game.  I would imagine that the number of phone calls and emails will greatly increase after this game.  I guess the biggest problem is that Olaf did not appear to give Carleton the respect that they deserve.

This rivalry has generally been pretty calm, and the last two years have been filled with problems.  Carleton has had fans ejected at our facilities and our fans get ejected at their facilities.  I know the Carleton fans  that got ejected at the game last year did not deserve to ejected.  It is turning in to the club hockey game which is always out of control.  It is rather unfortunate.

29 points is horrible? No wonder Meidt felt the need to put up another 56.

Edit: and according to the drive charts, almost 300 yards.

I think the Nine Man high school playoff games had more people.

I am not hear to speak for Coach Meidt.  I have my opinions about the game and the score.  I am not a fan of embarrassing a team like the Oles did, but it is Meidt's decision.  It is hard to defend him after this game, and I cannot defend the scoere.  If you want to talk to him you can easily get his information on the St. Olaf website.  St. Olaf a few years ago did lose to SJU by 54 points (this one is 57) and Kofoed did play in the 3rd quarter.  The Oles after that game should know better than to do this to their opponent.  It is not a fun feeling for the other team.  I do feel bad for Carleton and Coach Ramler who I greatly respect.

On another note the size of travel rosters should be considered.  Teams can only bring so many reserves, and with injuries reserve players (Olaf had one) it is hard to bring in new players.

Meidt is despicable.  I passed the info on to my wife and she was appalled.  That is total lack of class.  First, and this should be highly thought of.  How do you only bring two QB's to a game.  That is the one position you never take the chance on being short of.  IF his reason for only bringing two was that he was confident he had someone else he could have put in "just in case" then that person should have been in.  I'm not going after Olefan here, just using his first hand experience to further my point.

There is now way the drive starting at 12:41 started with a short field as the 49 yard pass indicates there was plenty of field to use- RUNNING THE BALL!!!!!!!!

Tom Porter, Bob Gelle, Dave Hauck, Don Canfield, Paul Miller, must be ashamed of being associated with St. Olaf College.  I've already left a message on my Dad's voicemail trying to vent my total disgust at the current Olaf program.  The Ole football teams of yore were a bunch of smart, classy guys that never had tons of talent (with the exception of the Steve Ryan/Bryan Sprout era).  Unfortunately, this current program talks more trash than any other team in the conference and obviously that comes from the top on down.  There is no way someone like Don Canfield or Tom Porter would have ever done anything like what Meidt did today, and it saddens me to see a program that once was viewed as a class program turn into the bunch of trash-talking, respectless bunch they've become.

I'm sure Meidt won't ever read this, but it should be known that Olaf's image in this conference has taken a HUGE hit in the eyes from someone that always respected and secretly loved the Black and Old Gold.  I cannot ever side with this disgusting group and the horrible leadership that runs it.

My opinion, not my dad's.  But something I will tell anyone associated with this current trash of a regime.
Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

You should always long arm your fish when taking pictures.

Long-arming is for folks that need to do that in order to make their fish to look big.
