Regarding Adrian Peterson's performance...

As I was watching the game yesterday, I couldn't help but think about another game-breaker from recent years.  The two guys played at completely different levels (one in DIII and the other in the NFL), but what each represented within their given game is strikingly similar.  Anytime this player touched the ball, they could take it the distance while breaking tackles, changing directions, and winning a game almost on their own...

You might already know it, but who is this player of which I was reminded?

That's right - Blake Elliott

Watching that 64 yard run yesterday against the Chargers seemed almost too similar to the Blake run against Mt. Union.

The Auggies have definitely come a long way since the beginning of this season that's for sure.  I was really hoping that they could have knocked off Bethel, and from the looks of it, they almost did.

In regards to the SJU-BU game, I'm gonna say that SJU takes this one.  There is a small chance that they will be upset after losing at home last year, and they might try to stick it to BU.

I know it's been addressed already, but suppose that BU loses by a lot to SJU, and Wartburg loses to Central, what are the Oles chances of getting into the playoffs then?  Might the 30-29 game against SJU make them look better than Bethel?  Maybe the NCAA will want to give them a shot in the playoffs as opposed to the "perennial playoff cupcake" (not my words) Bethel?

Blasphemy!  Sure, he's had a decent game or two, but Adrian Peterson has some work to do before you can compare him to Blake Elliott.

Sorry (not really).  The Oles aren't going to the playoffs.

More proof that Johnnies are delusional.  Comparing Adrian Peterson and his amazing performance to Blake Elliot... are you SERIOUS???  Thats like saying Carrot Top's Comedy Central stand-up is as funny as Robin Williams Live on Broadway.  I think I'm going to be sick...

???

First, maybe you didn't read the whole thing...Let me spell it out for you...I said they were at "completely different levels."  I'm just saying the way they played the game against their competition could be considered similar.  At what point did I say their skills were similar?

It is just enjoyable to watch someone who can single-handedly take over a game.  There are not many players in sports at any level that are able to do that...

I just caught up on 15 pages of reading and learned that

Meidt sucks.  However he does provide fun stuff to talk about.  I wonder if scoring so many points on Carlton will make him feel better about losing to Bethel and SJU for the second season in a row.  Unlikely.

SJU has a major edge with a week off and having lost to us last season.  IMO the game will be decided in the trenches.  In the three games I have seen between us SJU has dominated that aspect which lead to wins.  I was out of town last year but I can only assume what happened at the line of scrimmage.

An X factor could be the injury to Flannery from Bethel.  Although Bangs did run well against SJU last season.

I just got off the phone with a player on the BU team.  It should be said as always BU has great respect for SJU and expects a great game.

I predict 77-14 in favor of the Royals.   ;)  Ok just kidding, maybe more like 34-28.

Any word as to the severity of Flannery's injury?  Where's Scrubby when you need him?

Speaking of people who disappeared at the wrong time, anyone heard from The White Silly lately?  His Auggies' arena offense is really starting to take off.  Also, it would have been interesting to hear his thoughts on how the correct way to deal with a lopsided score is by running more trick plays.  Always more trick plays.

For my 500th post, I'd like to share an actual e-mail exchange that took place earlier today between me and a co-worker (who happened to drop out of Bethel after a year and a half because they didn't see eye-to-eye on, um... "social" issues, to put it politely):

TC: please expand on the "social issues"- meaning "both feet off the floor & no towel in the door" OR she just wanted to smoke a joint in her dorm room after econ. class to unwind ???
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Mike LaBore (South St. Paul) from Hamline lead the Pipers last week in tackles - Any relation to Beau of SJU fame?  If so, why is he wearing scarlet and grey and not Cardinal and White?

Not sure, but Beau is from South St. Paul.

Mike is the youngest LaBore brother.  He followed his high school coach (Paul Miller-- who was at SSP between his MIAC stints) to Hamline.

Out of order, I'll show you out of order! You don't know what out of order is, Mr Task! I'd show you but I'm too old, I'm too tired, and I'm too f----n blind. If I were the man I was 5 years ago, I'd take a FLAMETHROWER to this place. Out of order, who the hell do you think you're talking to?

Flannery's injury is something associated with his hip, but I'm not sure how severe.  It will definitely hurt us if he is out.  Bangs is a decent replacement, runs hard, has decent speed, but he's just not as dynamic as flannery...doesn't have the moves.

No chance at all, in my opinion.  The running up of the score against Carleton is not changing that at all.  That was pretty Bush-League but SJU has been accused of doing the same thing.  On the other hand, one can not just tell one's players to cush off a little and lose intensity.  Bethel is a playoff sausage squad but I think they still get it even if they lose to SJU.  I don't know what it is but that school can not win a playoff football game and Bethel has had some really good teams in the past.

By the way, Red Hot Bennie is hot.
