No way the MIAC gets three teams, especially if two of them are two loss teams.  Olaf being in the Top 25 is very deceiving, to say the least.  If SJU wins this Saturday, BU is a VERY long shot to get into the show and Olaf lost by 21 to BU so there's no way they could be in too.  Not enough slots to go around, and Olaf has proven that they're not ready to see that level of football anyway.  That Olaf coach's offense and a bunch of Florida kids playing in the cold and snow sounds like a monkey-stomp waiting to happen.

If BU loses and by some miracle get in at 8-2 it would almost certainly mean going on the road to Whitewater or SJU.  Does that sound like fun to anybody not from SJU or UWW?  Not this guy.  BU's playoffs start this Saturday, and assuming they win will hope they don't  get screwed in the bracket like they did last year (what a travesty that was).  Hope Flannery is a go for this Saturday too since it's going to take the best BU can muster.

I guess I don't understand how Bethel got "screwed" last year.  Yes, they had to go on the road, but their options were to play 1.) a conference champ or 2.) the WIAC second place.  The committee gave them the benefit of playing a second place team instead of another conference champ.   Did Bethel deserve to play SNC? Hardly.  With two WIAC schools in the 8, chances are pretty good you're going to have to beat a WIAC team to advance anyway.

As far as hosting, there was no magic MIAC last year, since our non-conference record wasn't all that good thanks to GAC and UST getting beat by IIAC teams.  This year is better, save Bethel's loss to BVU.  As far as head to head, Bethel beat SJU but lost to Carleton.  UW-LaCrosse beat D1-AA S. Dakota State and lost to UW-Whitewater.  I don't call having UW-L host then a travesty.

This year, if BU beats SJU, it is possible (based on regional rankings) that BU could face SNC.  If BU goes one-and-done in that matchup, you may see a movement to have the Royals expelled from the conference!

You're making me question your Johnnie-ness.

Repeat after me:

Bethel sucks, Olaf sucks, Hamline sucks, Augsburg sucks, Carleton sucks, Concordia sucks, GAC sucks, St. Thomas sucks.

Maybe I am just to new?  Having been around Johnnie Football since August is maybe to short a time to gather in the confidence required to hang around with you. When talking about sucks, I will say Bethel's field sucks.  I cannot see how a grass field can be justified in Minnesota.  My very first post was about the Johnnie D + special teams= Salem.  Both need to do well on a field that sucks.

Bethel has proven themselves against MIAC opponents.  They are striving for the next step.  Olaf needs to win the big ones in conference.

I think now that Ramler is at Carleton they should be put on Suck Probation for awhile to see how things turn out.  See if Ramler earns the suck back.

OAS - I've seen other reporters use the "UNNAMED SOURCES" gambit. You could have done the same.

The difference is that "unnamed sources" means the comment was on the record, but the source requested anonymity. An "off the record" comment cannot be legitimately used as a source of information. By making that comment off the record, the "source" is explicitly saying that it should be treated as little more than a rumor.

That said, I want to know what oAs is hiding, too :D
Nice day, huh?

How 'bout some classic BU/SJU memories?  A few of mine:

2001.  BU comes into Clemens thinking they're cock-of-the-walk.  After a thorough half of getting beat like red-headed step-children, the way they were hanging their heads walking into the locker room was priceless.

2002.  I wrenched my ankle pretty darn good on the wonderful astroturf at the 'dome.  After the game, Mike Johnson comes over to congratulate me on a kick return or punt return, mistakenly thinking I was Blake Elliot.

2002.  I was crutching my way through the innards of the 'dome after the game when I run across Steve Johnson, who says, "I hope my boys didn't do that to you."  Ummm, no, I injured myself.   ::)

2005.  Enjoying the game with a delightfully intoxicated Kilted Rat and his wife. :D

I save my WIAC hate for the playoffs when the rest of the MIAC is sitting at home. ;)

Oh, geesh.  I'm on the verge of 4000!  I'll keep my mouth shut till I think of something great!

2) The starters from STO weren't sitting by halftime like Koefed and the Johnnies because STO was only up by 1 point at halftime.

Actually the Johnnies Starters were still in as well for that nail-biter...
Um YA YA!

Hmm ... OAS hasn't even shared these with his editor, and I don't even know who he talked to.  :-\

I know we were planning to write about a particular adverse week a particular MIAC school had, talking about both the good and the bad, but the school refused to even comment about the bad, so we're not writing the story. We're not trying to write puff pieces. But that school isn't related to STO/CAR ...
