Greetings from the IBFC board!  Figured id take a look at what you guys over here in the MIAC are discussing considering we (concordia wis) got paired up with Bethel.  Anybody have any insight into what type of team Bethel is?  Im pretty sure most of us over in the IBFC have no idea who/what they are.  CUW is a damn good defensive team, but they have problems scoring in big games.  And as im sure you all know, the Illini-Badger isnt exactly the Big Ten.  But yea, any thoughts would be appreciated.  thanks guys.

Bethel hasn't made it out of the first round in three tries so you've got that mojo working for you immediately. Get your boys fired up to play some offense, of the passing style, and you'll be good.

They aren't the most hospitable bunch as they wouldn't allow Johnnie fans in early while their own student population was granted entrance to the field(I won't call it a stadium) to grab seats.

On the bright side if you can get a few of your fans together there is a very sweet little tailgate location just inside the chainlink fence off of the Soho lot(you can find it on their campus map).

The BU security left us alone.... come to think of it, I think they were just too damn scared of a bunch of Catholics "enjoying" ourselves around the campfire.... thanks for the extra big kettle Music Man!

Also, thanks to Bethel for the path to the peeing grounds right next to our tailgating location. I've never seen a path cleared into the woods with not apparent purpose other than for me to have a clearing to urinate in with a half dozen of my closest friends at halftime :o

Very thoughtful ;D
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale's vagina.

I think TDT should add the BU Soho lot as the second best tailgating site in the MIAC based on this feature alone.   :-X

Sounds like a good one up in Arden Hills.  Congrats to Bethel.  I think SJU might have a 1 and done playoff run.  They don't seem to jump out at me like they have in years past.  I am not sure how good Bethel would be, but I think they get 1 win.

After watching the UST/STO game this week I realized how wrong I was with last week's comments on the thrashing St. Olaf gave Carleton.  Someone in Minnesota needs to learn how to run out the clock when you are losing.  You don't throw the football unless necessary (get the first down when it is 3rd and long).  You don't go out of bounds.  It is all about keeping the clock moving.  You play to the final whistle.  St. Olaf should have done the same thing to St. Thomas.  We take a knee inside the 5 to show some sportsmanship, but the Tommies start throwing deep on us with a minute to go.  That is crap.  I apologize to the Oles for my comments last week.

Good on Olaf for taking a knee, but you lost me with saying that UST trying to score at the end of the game is crap.  They're down 20+ points with a minute to go, and you don't expect them to throw it?  Would you rather that they ran the victory play in return?  "People should know when they're conquered." "Would you, Quintus?  Would I?"  I don't get it. ???

You run the ball between the tackles.  There are no stunts or anything funny.  I heard someone from St. Thomas say they threw so a kid could get a record.  I still have a problem with that.  Does Matt Penz (broken collarbone early in the game) get a chance to break a record he tied?  Any record where you have to do something that should not be part of the game is tainted.  I am sick of seeing players who are injured get a free pass for some record.  It should never come down to one final play, because there were already chances to make that one final play.  How would you feel if someone broke one of your records on a meaningless play with 5 seconds to go in a game?  There is a great King of the Hill episode on this topic.

Is Adrian Peterson's record tainted then because he got to 296 yards when the game was no longer in doubt?  You're flailing now.  Something tells me if Penz were healthy he would have been given every opportunity to get his record even after the outcome was decided.

Can Bethel win a playoff game?

Inconceivable!

Um, don't you have to know a little about your opponent to say that?

Just got back from the great white north.

First, congratulations to Bethel on the game yesterday and your season. Sounded like your boys were ready to play. Good luck in the post-season (to a point)

Thanks to cousin KR for the text updates. I enjoyed them until the last one.  :'( Funny thing yesterday, I dropped Fins IV off at the place where he can walk in to his stand, then ran to the store 8 miles away to pick up a few supplies. Just for kicks, I tuned into 1330 AM and caught a few snippets of the broadcast. After I left the store, I drove to a high point in the road and could actually hear the last few minutes of the game at N48°17.54364, W093°0.13014  :o

Heard the koolaid ran out early. I'm putting chief deputy LBean on the task for Saturday's game. He will also have the keys to the Fins Luxury Skybox so I want everybody on their best behavior. :)

Too bad you have to hunt for a living.  It should be a good game. ;)

Why play the game, just give it to Redlands.
On second thought, maybe SJU will be the more physical, athletic and emotional team. You guys are really cocky-hope you like your welcome to MIAC football-too bad you will go home with a loss.

Hey...I was reading the posts before mine...you are calling the dogs cocky? Many posts tonight about how St. Johns could win this bracket....little old Redlands will show up....the Bulldog nation is already excited!!!  Its all in good fun...but in 02 we were the more aggressive team....but St. Johns got it done that day...we will see Saturday....I hope its a good one!

Olefan,
You are ridiculous.

I was also annoyed with St. Thomas for passing the ball and calling time outs at the end of the game.  I wanted them to run the clock out because I was cold as hell.  But if someone was going after a record, let him go after it.  The king of the hill episode you're talking about was about a guy who was let into the endzone to break a record.  The Oles weren't going to sit back and let this guy get a record and then everyone gives him a nice little golf clap and there's a hallmark moment as the kid runs off the field to give his mom a hug.  He was going to earn the record...
although, with the year that the tommies had, the only record I could see them setting is most turn overs or most points given up in a season in school history...

Touchdown T checking in for duty.  I am alive and well.  Saturday was stressful.

Just finished reading about 30 pages.  Much has been said and will be said.  Terrific win for Bethel.  They seem to have a great gameplan each season now.  To be completely honest, I was not impressed by either team.  Both teams were very mediocore and I believe this is in direct relation to the relatively broad parity after the Giant from Alliance.  My belief is everybody else is playing for 2nd place.  That really hurts to say but I can't help but be honest.  I know the happiest guy in MN this morning was raiderguy.  Imagine the possibilities of a semifinal Showdown at the O.K. Corral??

Details/Lack Thereof from the Saturday evening festivities in DownTown MPLS to come.  Let's just say I have pics of Frank Rickard and Ritzy in rare form.  Apologize to the Veekster for the call at 2:50a.m. from Frank Rickard as he picked up my cellphone and went wild.  Same to the Mayor who ANSWERED his phone around 3:30a.m. and Frank R nearly shat himself.  Mayslack's will never be the same fellas.

BTW: TC thanks for joining us.  Ritzy will address you shortly.  :o :o
