Touchdown T checking in for duty.  I am alive and well.  Saturday was stressful.

Just finished reading about 30 pages.  Much has been said and will be said.  Terrific win for Bethel.  They seem to have a great gameplan each season now.  To be completely honest, I was not impressed by either team.  Both teams were very mediocore and I believe this is in direct relation to the relatively broad parity after the Giant from Alliance.  My belief is everybody else is playing for 2nd place.  That really hurts to say but I can't help but be honest.  I know the happiest guy in MN this morning was raiderguy.  Imagine the possibilities of a semifinal Showdown at the O.K. Corral??

Details/Lack Thereof from the Saturday evening festivities in DownTown MPLS to come.  Let's just say I have pics of Frank Rickard and Ritzy in rare form.  Apologize to the Veekster for the call at 2:50a.m. from Frank Rickard as he picked up my cellphone and went wild.  Same to the Mayor who ANSWERED his phone around 3:30a.m. and Frank R nearly shat himself.  Mayslack's will never be the same fellas.

BTW: TC thanks for joining us.  Ritzy will address you shortly.  :o :o

We all can't be the recipients of d-1 caliber athletes.  Our best shot is to get a bunch of d-2 fallouts.  MUC is right in the heart of FB country.  If one is not going to get much playing time at Penn St., OSU, Youngstown State, they may as well go win a championship at MUC.  I presume MUC is a pretty good school?   Don't they actually have to be smart to go to school there?  Do they have "pin the tail on the donkey" majors there for the FB players?  I guess I'm going Mac and Carleton on MUC.  I know that's what the Mac and Carleton people say about SJU.  MUC gets way better athletes across the board.  With the evisceration of D-2 by the NC00 and with people not really wanting to play for the remaining d-2 teams, perhaps we'll get some more athletes.  I can imagine that a lot of good kids are not going to be able to pay a lot at the d-1AA level.   I can't imagine a lot of kids would want to play for what's left of d-2.

By the way, has Gags talked Mike Grant into letting his kid go to SJU?????
Chewey,

Go post this on the OAC board and see what they say .... :)

Thanks for the warning Shouldabeen71.  I have a great deal of respect for you, TDT,  JohnnieRed, and a few others on this board, but I am not going to bow down to the SJU gods anymore.

You mean you have been bowing down to the SJU gods until now?  Only the mad SJU Photoshop skillz!!!1!!1 kept you in line?  I can't wait to see what you're like when you're antagonistic.

With a good St. Olaf football team done for the year, I guess this allows me to go on my soap box and preach for the bowl games in the Division 1 bowl series.

OK, OF is taking the Mickey out of us, as the Aussies say, and is enjoying the reaction he gets from each ridiculous post to the next.  He's in the spare bedroom right now surrounded by Cherry Coke cans and mostly empty pizza boxes as he sniggers about the reactions he generates.  Life hasn't been this good since he planted worms in the girls shower back in 8th grade.  He is proving to be a better hater/troll than AO because it seems as if he actually believes his delusions.

You sure don't have to support the Johnnies, but if you're aiming to be a ridiculous charicature of a Johnnie Hater then good luck to you.  Just know that you're going to have some stiff competition from AO.

After yesterday's game I started to feel a bit for the Johnnies as I thought their fanbase may have taken a hit.  All the negativity also can't help a team trying to look at a new chance for glory in the post-season.  This was tempered a little bit by my memory of the 35 year old Johnnie fan chanting, "second plaaaace  second plaaace"standing 2 feet from the royals huddle just before BU took the field for the second half.  I should say that he did put some coin in the Bethel coffers a few moments later as I saw him purchase a bethel winter hat to keep his poor earsies warm- he did what he could to turn it inside out to hide the BU logo of course.

Just because I've pulled for every team in the MIAC to beat the Johnnies, doesn't mean I hate the johnnies.  Undefeated teams are fun once in a while(and make for some terrific matchups as yesterday was), but decades of dominance over the majority of teams in the conference, resulting in the breeding of fans who expect to beat everybody by 30 and make sure you know about it makes it hard to not hope for that team to come down a bit.  The patriots are probably experiencing a little bit of that resentment right now (spygate probably didn't help).

All that said- I look forward to SJU destroying Redlands and Central.

Gentlemen.  Just like to interrupt your regularly scheduled programming of Johnnie and Royal talk to tell you that after spending years of reading message after message (or opinion after opinion) on the MIAC Forum, I finally caved in.  Glad to be on board.

But which team do you back?
I bet he's a lurking Gustie. +k

wow, your sanity definitely needs to be questioned after that post Olefan.  Nobody likes that bowl game setup.  Why else would there be such constant discussion about changing D1 to a playoff setup like D3 has.  Last year on the BCS selection show they asked every coach in a quick interview if they would like to see the format changed, and if I remember correctly, every one thought bowl games should be dropped, and a playoff format put in place.  Are you just advocating this for D3 because your Oles are out?
G&BBU and Oz, I saw this coming with OleFan.  I went to school with a fellow who stayed up too late at night taking speed and had some other very questionable components to his support system.  It all came to an end one semester when he wrote a Poly Sci paper that pointed out the parallels between his life and that of Jesus Christ and announced his intention to devote the rest of his life to volunatry public service.   In the future I think we need to be very gentle with and supportive of OleFan.  ;)

We should have the Stiftungsfestivities going this Saturday by 9:00 a.m. Remember that the game starts at noon. Redlands fans are cordially invited to join us for the tailgate. We are located in the parking lot above the scoreboard end of the field. Bring a culinary delight from California to share.

And how about those Badgers??!!!!! If anyone has a spare ticket for my Badger son for the game with the Gophers this Saturday, please let me know.

JR-I think some of us will be there by 8:00 a.m., so will hold your spot.

I took a look at the NCAA stats through Nov 3rd games and the two teams are pretty equal on paper, within maybe 30 yards of each other on offense and a few yards on defense. Looks like Redland has a very good QB and so does SJU, especially at home. The biggest factor may be the quality of play in each league as the MIAC is traditionally srtonger than the SCIAC. Should translate into a 10 point win by SJU.
And stop with the 2002 talk already, this is a different team. One big factor going into that game was the fact that SJU had the prior week off, so it took time to get the wheels going. This time, no such problems after the tough loss to Bethel.

2002?  If I remember correctly, we still won :P

Bring on the Bulldogs!

Saturday looks to be a pretty nice day.  So far, they're predicting sunny with a high near 40.  Of course, in MN, that could change in a hurry.

A tradition unrivaled...

I have been around Johnnie Football for 3 months.  John has been Johnnie Football for 55 years.  I like our chances on Saturday.

How many consecutive losses have the Johnnies suffered in the last decade?  We have coaches who will rebound and give this 2007 squad a gameplan that will be successful.  I look for crisp offensive play and mistake free special teams.  I am sure our opponent has a great team, we have a great team (9-1) we have John.  We have the Johnnie D.  They have been solid every game.

Good luck to both the Royals and Johnnies, maybe a rematch with 15,000 people watching MIAC football.

Johnnie Red

sju56321, I should also be there by 8:00 a.m.. Just wanted to make a general announcement for those who don't wake up every morning at 4:00 a.m.. :P

Justadad, I would sure like to see a rematch too, but the additional 5,000 would have to be watching on TV or the game would need to be moved to the Metrodome.  Anybody out there one of the thousands who stood in the corners 5 deep?  What could you see? Also, anybody know anyone who got there and left because of the lack of seating and decent standing room?

BTW, on a positive note, the young ladies selling concessions were very sweet kids.

Pretty much nothing.  I was a bit ticked off.  Not a good venue for a big game.

I was really looking forward to hosting you guys for a 3rd straight year.  ;)   This will be a different play-off run for the Hawks for sure.  I prefer the opponent I know to the one I don't but the west has complained for years about being stacked so the move makes sense! Good luck to the Johnnies this weekend.  Send the west coast team back home with a loss!    8)
