Anyone who frequents this board knows that I'm the world's biggest Alex Kofoed Fanboy.

That's the understatement of the year.  You are to Kofoed what The Prophet was to Elliot.

Except TC's fanboism to Kofoed is nothing like his unhealthy crush on one Nick Gunderson.
Nice day, huh?

Hey Johnnie fans!

Can someone compare the 02 Johnnie team to this years team?  Who do you think was better and why?

It seems that the 02 team may have been more explosive....true?

Thanks !

2002 for one HUGE reason: Blake Elliott.

Anyone who frequents this board knows that I'm the world's biggest Alex Kofoed Fanboy.  As such, I have a spreadsheet containing everything he's done since he stepped foot on Collegeville turf four and a half years ago.  That made it really easy to compare his home and away performances.

TC,
I'm worried about you. You really need to get out more...... WTF ???
Be careful Section, he might have some numbers on you too. ;)

This year's team doesn't have DuffMan -  :o

I'll take that, as I just said having reviewed the 2002 audio-SJU had a great team that year, but the #1 QB got hurt early and his sub, Denne, took over the team. With Elliot and Riegelman and Nelson, an extremely explosive team. On defense, the core guys that went on the defeat Mount the next year, All-American Hood, with McCambridge and Goltz. SJU was a very good team. Redlands had a good QB and a good short passing game that year.
This year, the offense is good but not like 2002, but capable of putting up big numbers if clicking. The D is certainly not like 2002 and that will be a big key to the game.

Bad news Johnnie Faithful.  >:(  The price of hops has tripled in the last 2 months. Predictions are that the price of our favorite bevy will increase significantly - especially craft brews like Fat Tire.  :-\

When I heard on the radio that the price of fuel was going up, I thought they were refering to gasoline! ;) ;D

Since I played on the 02 Redlands team I have been asking the same question about the 02 redlands team vs. this years....I can't state that they were better than us yet (because of my ego) but just by looking at the stats they just might!

I wonder whose picture he has framed on his nightstand...or maybe it is a lifesized poster?   8) ;)

Redlandsfan, if that is the case, then my thoughts yesterday would hold, SJU by 10. I know turnovers are part of the game, but if SJU does not have 6 in 2002, SJU wins by 21-28 points. That was Denne first playoff start, I believe. No such luck for Redlands with Kofoed.

And I do have too much time on my hands and, as such, I reviewed the audio from the 2002 game, so guy name Bielat made a few tackles, go figure.

That was the best game that Bielat fellow ever played.  He had 2 sacks and recovered the fumble that set-up the game-winning touchdown ;)

SJU09

2002's team was better than this year's squad.  In 2002 you had big play guys on both sides of the ball (Blake Elliot, Jeremy Hood to name just two).  This team in my opinion is not as strong as last years team and the offense is probaby the weakest St. John's has had in the playoffs since 1999. Again, just one man's opinion.

And that team had PLU put away... :'(
PLU dominated Rowan at the Stagg shortly thereafter.

The box score link on GoJohnnies.com isn't working. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it was someone with the initials NB and who wore #30 in the '03 Stagg. How close am I?
